Spandex. Hip-hop. A 36-year-old mother of four. I can't think of a scarier combination. Seriously, the last time I tried to stay in shape was before the conception of baby #3 five years ago. Don't know what possessed me to give it another try....
After safely handing off all four of my dear children into their own childcare classes at the "Y", I arrived, already breathless and five minutes late. Apparently, I missed the introduction which I assume was the part where all the youngins went around the room and introduced themselves as "Britney, Britney, Britney, Lindsay, Britney and Britney" I guess I also missed the part where the instructor asked me if I realized that this was not a "Silver Sneakers" class. I have to say that I kept up my stamina just fine, with energy to spare. I just could NOT understand how to make my body do those crazy moves. I've always been head of the class material whenever I'm in a group setting. I think it's safe to say that that ship has sailed. Maybe I should try yoga next time?? I'll keep you posted.
Oh yes, and, to add insult to injury, I stood in the middle of my kitchen when I got home and showed my husband all the moves I couldn't do. (Most of the entertainment in my house happens in the kitchen.) Dinner was good, though. I finally dusted off the wok and we had yummy fish and veggies with garlic and ginger. My husband said he could eat five pounds in one sitting. Of course, the kids hated it.
This morning was very productive. Let's just call it a Teacher Inservice day. We finally moved my husband's office out of the dining room and moved my son back into his old room since Ava doesn't sleep in there anymore. She decided it was too scary so she's on a small mattress next to my side of the bed. Ella (4), who shared a room with Ava for a total of 4 days, was graciously invited by Olivia (8) to share a room with her indefinitely. So, Jonathan's office is now Bailey's old room. Of course, moving within one's home is more complicated than moving into a new home. It's like one of those tile puzzles where you have to move one tile in order to slide the other tile into place. I'm SOOOO grateful for all my helpers. They were awesome. AWESOME!!! Olivia and Bailey took apart the crib and changing table and helped me carry pieces into storage. Oh, and the storage had to be rearranged so that the baby stuff went into the "blackhole" section and the Christmas stuff came to the front. And, in the midst of the chaos, the cat ran in and hid in the far reaches of the attic and all the kids had a complete fit. Can you say claustrophobia?
But, we got it all done...I'm proud to say. I did happen to mention to my husband that by putting the crib, bassinet and changing table in the blackhole, it pretty much means that we're going to have another baby....The plot thickens.
(What's that meowing sound?)
