Here's some math u see:
One Big Family
+ Bulk Grocery Purchases
one inside fridge,
one outside fridge,
one outside standup freezer
and one outside chest freezer.
(No, we're not mafia or anything : )
The truth is I could probably use 2 inside refrigerators so I can stop running back and forth for more gallons of milk.
Anyway, here's a conversation from this morning regarding our appliances:
"Bailey, would you run into the garage and get my carpet rake?" (I'll explain later but everyone who still has carpeting in their house NEEDS a carpet rake)
"Mom, there's a giant leak in the garage coming from the outside freezer."
"What???? Well, what temp does it read on the front door." "No, not OUR front door, the one on the FREEZER."
"There's nothing on and no light inside."
Heart is palpitating. We have easily 200 pounds of meat out there (not that I would eat any of it). Husband is out-of-pocket all day, so I'm on my own. Go out into garage (barefoot), follow mass of tangled wires and cords to the wall outlet. All plugged in. Check circuit breakers, nothing tripped. Move 15 foot ladder, move 12 foot ladder, pull fridge away from wall, find other outlet, find problem. After retrieving gi-normous flashlight from hall closet, where we hid from the crazy storm two nights ago, I reset the GCFI switch and hear that old familiar hum again. Yeah!
Bottom line is all the meat is ok because we caught it in time but we lost SIX GALLONS of milk, 1 dozen eggs & some cherry tomatoes. The kids had lots of fun pouring the gallons down the sink. Glug glug glug.
Well, they're waiting for me to read to them right now so, I'm off. Hey, I just realized that Bailey never did bring me the carpet rake.
