Movie in the Park

Movie in the Park

There are flood watches out for Kennebec County tonight, but I don’t think the rains have begun yet.  In July we needed rain desperately, but now many want the rains to stop.  It is God who is in control of the rains and He has a plan.  Think on these things.

"You faithfully answer our prayers with awesome deeds, O God our savior.  You are the hope of everyone on earth; even those who sail on distant seas.
You take care of the earth and water it, making it rich and fertile.  The rivers of God will not run dry; they provide a bountiful harvest of grain, for you have ordered it so.  You drench the plowed ground with rain, melting the clods and leveling the ridges.  You soften the earth with showers and bless its abundant crops."
-Psalm 65: 5,9,10 (NLT)  Think about rain with joy and thankfulness.

Well, we’re off to Las Vagas in October.  I hear that gasp!  We have to fly there to get to our friends in St. George Utah.  They live near the Grand Canyon, Bryce Canyon, Hoover Dam and other interesting places that they are anxious for us to see.  Don't worry, he casinos are not on the list, although I will be curious to drive down the strip that I’ve heard so much about.

Yesterday I used my Mother’s Day gift from the girls and got a therapeutic massage.  Girls, you no longer have to stress about what to get a mother who has all she needs.  One of those will do every time.  Elaine even had special herbal oils specifically for Lyme’s.  How about that?  I think we woke up those buggers, too, because during the night I had a few symptoms – cramps in my calves – that sometimes accompany my episodes.  No episode, though, so that was great.

Today it was lawns and raspberries and cooking for the church pig roast tomorrow.   When I finished Crysten and I got it in our heads to get a fancy desert somewhere, pick up a movie and go to Johnson Pond at Colby for an outdoor movie night.

It almost worked.  I forgot that the computer screen can’t be seen too well outdoors, and the sound isn’t really loud enough for that either.  After about 15 minutes into the movie, and expressing great disappointment that our deserts from Applebee's hadn’t been heated like they should have been, we packed up and came home.

The movie is a college production called Secret of the Cave and masterfully done.  It’s based on an old children’s story set in Ireland.  Filmed on location, the scenes are breathtaking. Crysten kept trying to recognize places that she’s been.   It has a Christian perspective and is wholesome for the whole family.  In fact, I purchased a copy on the internet tonight so my grandkids can enjoy it.  Adults will be drawn in to the movie as well as children.

The Movie in the Park idea is a great one, though, but we’ll have to tweak it a little more before we can do it again.  Good times, nevertheless.
