I’m behind in blogging again. I’m sitting here waiting for the Olympics to come on so maybe I can multitask. Did you see the opening? I wanted to boycott it (can’t stand all the propaganda), but my curiosity got the best of me. I’m glad it did. It was amazing. I’m still asking myself, “How did they do that?” Loved the music, too, and didn’t think I would. Bob turned 60 on Monday but was working too much to enjoy it. I got him a large lobster roll from the Country Store in Oakland for his late supper. Crysten had to work for him. The herd had over 400 cows. They worked from 12:30 – 8 PM, came home for a quick nap and headed out to the same farm again at 1 AM. That evening a man was shot and killed in Albion when he went on a shooting rampage on Main St. When Crysten and Bob drove through town early that morning, the streets were still filled with lots of law enforcement. The next day, Crysten walked like an old lady. She had to squat down for all 400 bovines to get the samples and her leg muscles had nothing left but pain. If it didn’t hurt so much it would have been comical watching her trying to get in and out of her car or a chair. While they were working, I went out to our old camp to visit with the Pooler family from New York. They didn’t have a very nice week to be there. I hadn’t met Annalisa’s Kristen or Cassandra’s Gabriella. They are so sweet. Tuesday was Happy 2nd Anniversary to Cory and Brooke, now serving the Lord in Great Britain. I heard from them recently and they need prayer for some difficult situations they are facing with some of their students. It reminded me of the SOS emails I got from Melissa this year. Wednesday was the annual Taste of Waterville downtown. This is the first year in forever that we could actually take part. Of course, it rained all day and spoiled things. Still, Crysten and I went down for lunch… looked around, saw people we know, then went home. Around 5 the rain let up so we went back to see what the local restaurants were doing. Some had set up along the street. By the time we got our food, the rains were back so we went to the car and ate before heading home for prayer meeting. Crysten brought Faith, Megan and Carissa to her house for the night. Thursday was the only day that Bob had a few hours to go to camp and see the Poolers. We took our lunch. It was rainy and cold, but we had fun visiting and playing Scummy. Crysten and the girls came with us. Bob left for work and the girls and I went to Loralei’s. She served us breakfast for supper. It was yummy. Bo was there, too. From there we went to Erika’s Pampered Chef Bridal shower. Melissa came out of retirement to demonstrate for us. She’s as good as anyone on the food network. A natural. She hasn’t lost her touch, because I think she sold well over $1000 in merchandise for that evening. Yesterday I drove up in the monsoons to visit Marie. Lots of flooding in nearby places. Crysten came over after supper and watched the opening ceremonies until she couldn’t watch any longer. She had to get up early for work this morning. I only lasted until the USA came in and then I went to bed, too. Today I met with two families in Newport to talk about going to Guatemala. They have never done a mission trip before, so they are quite excited. Between rain showers, I managed to get some lawns done when I got home. Yeah, caught up once again… unless Crysten thinks of something I’m forgetting. Off to watch the swimming. |
