Faith doesn’t turn 9 until Sunday, but decided to celebrate early while all the cousins were together. It was her idea to have an Olympic theme party. The idea just took on a life of it’s own. The morning started with a fishing derby. Schylar caught the largest and Isaac caught the most (4) and the most unique. We broke for lunch and to watch John McCain introduce us to his running mate, Sarah, who impressed us all. Then the afternoon competition began with the official call to the 2008 Snow Pond Olympics. The athletes proudly marched in waving the American flag to the official Olympic theme song soundtrack We started off with the track and field: Marathon: Schylar – Gold, Ethan – Silver, Carissa – Bronze Pee Wee 10 K: Abigail, Isaac, Ethan, Sky took Gold – Isaac, Alicia, Eli, Kaleb, Megan took Silver – Alicia, Lauren, and Carissa took Bronze. Stone skipping: Longest – Schylar and most skips – Kaleb for Gold; Ethan with 7 skips for Silver and Isaac with 6 skips for Bronze. Sand Castle: The Tots and the Girls tied for Gold with 26 points. Boys took Silver. Noodle javelin throw: Pee Wees: Elynn for Gold – Alicia for Sliver – Abigail for Bronze. Senior group: Schylar just edged out Isaac for Gold – Isaac for Silver – Ethan and Eli tied for Bronze Kayak group: Schylar for Gold – Megan for Sliver – Kaleb for Bronze Kayak individual: Schylar for Gold (32 secs) – Megan/Kaleb/Carissa tied for silver (42 secs) – Ethan for Bronze (49 secs) Synchronized Diving teams: Kate + Kaleb for Gold – Schylar and Carissa for Silver – Kate and Megan for Bronze. If we had a medal for “Most Improved” it would have definitely gone to Megan in this event!! The Little Ones who couldn’t dive did biggest splash, the Pencil Dive, and the whackiest. Isaac got Gold and Eli and Ethan tied for Silver. Individual Diving: Schylar took Gold and Carissa and Kaleb tied for Silver while Kate came in third for Bronze. Schylar, being the oldest cousin, came in with 9 gold medals and was the Best Overall Athlete for the day. There were a few tears, but mostly just lots of fun, teamwork and good sportsmanship as we all cheered everybody on to victory. I’m not sure what the neighbors were thinking. The athletes made one final march in to the same theme music and then the 2008 Snow Pond Olympics came to an end, |
