Sarah, Please Go Home

Sarah, Please Go Home

Am I the only one that thinks this?  It sure seems like it.  Most of my otherwise rational friends are so excited about Sarah that they are forgiving her for abandoning her responsibilities to her family at a time when they are facing two major upheavals.  I don’t get it.

Is God making an exception to His standards because we are in exceptional times?

Does this scenario give us a better platform for promoting full time motherhood?

Is God using Sarah’s choices to bring glory to Himself, and if so, does that give us license to endorse her candidacy?

Will the culture learn from this why it’s important for mothers to be mothers?

There is much to admire about Sarah as a wife and mother.

There is much to admire about Sarah as a candidate.  But when you combine the two Sarah’s it creates an oxymoron for me.

The TV pundits cannot understand why anyone would attack Sarah as a working mom or imply that she has had a contribution to the moral failing of her daughter.  They want Sarah to be the one to show us that a wife and mother can “have it all” and live happily ever after.

“No one criticizes Barak for being a working dad,” they insist. “People just don’t want to see a strong woman succeed,” they conclude.

But did the political distractions/demands in Sarah’s life inadvertantly make provision for the flesh to fulfill its lusts in Bristol and Levi’s lives?  Something caused this to fly under the family radar until it was too late.   Was this a consequence of Sarah’s choices?  No one wants us to ask these questions.  “It has nothing to do with her ability to serve in public office” we are being told vehemently.  “Do NOT question Sarah’s choices.”

“People see different things when they see women and when they see men,” one of the FOX News gals cried out.

Ladies, this is not by accident.  God has put this in our hearts.

So God created man in His own image; in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them.  Gen 1:27

In the day that God created man, He made him in the likeness of God. He created them male and female, and blessed them and called them Mankind in the day they were created. Gen 5:1-2

Don’t fall into the trap that demands that there be no difference between men and women.  Those of us who love our daughters don’t want to the culture or the church to go down this road.  It leads to broken marriages, total disrespect, unwed mothers, singleness, military combat, and other undesirable consequences for our precious young women.

Being a woman or a man is an honorable position.  Each requires different responsibilities and obligations.  Because we are created in the image of God we are called to a very high standard of conduct and personal growth - complete uncompromising obedience and commitment to His Word and His work.

Sarah, please go home.  Your little guy will need so much of you if he is to reach his full potential.  It will not come easily to him, but it can come, and no one will want it more for him than you.

Sarah, please go home.  Your daughter will need so much of you in the days ahead as she prepares for a wedding and the birth of her baby.  There is so much you will need to teach her.

Sarah, please go home.  No matter how convinced you are that there are people “out there” who can substitute for you when the demands of your job require it, it’s not true.  There is no substitute for the sacred trust that God has given you.  Please let sweet Bristol’s indiscretion be your wake up call before it is too late.

I’m Susan Blount and I approve this message.

Susan ... Very astute questions that I believe need to be asked and faced... No one can estimate the power of an engaged and committed mom, and I have found that the task is all-encompassing in the best of times... How well can the position of the Vice-Presidency be attended to by a woman who should, and must, have her hands full?

Sep. 4, 2008 - thank you

Hi Susan,
Thank you for what you wrote, could not agree more!
Maybe you saw, but Edwin just updated his Facebook and wrote that he thinks that "Palin should go be the keeper of her home"....so you know what we believe and how we feel! How sad that some believers are having such views that are so against God's command for women. Again just another step towards exactly what you wrote...lots of broken homes...very sad. Thank you for writing this, I likewise approve what you wrote. :) All we can do is pray and speak up!!
Much love,
wish we could chat in person....
Liz

Thank you for so clearly articulating my thoughts! As much as I love her stand, I cannot bring myself to vote for her...if only she were a man. I know that is not a popular statement in this day and age, but it is the God given roll.

Sep. 4, 2008 - Take another look at Sarah. Who else running would do better?

Posted by SchoolinRhome

Sarah can be a good mom and work with her children still right in the same place as she. Many homeschooling moms work jobs. Many at-home homeschooling moms spend little time with their kids even though they hid behind playing the role as a homeschooling mom who does all for their kids. What are YOU doing with your kids while you blog or do any hobbies or go out. Are they ALWAYS with you. She can share the role with her husband and her older children as all of us homeschooling moms do. She would do much better for this country than anyone else out there. She is not sacrificing her family. THey are a loving and supportive family that got this far together. It wasn't her mission to set out this plan for her life. She got into PTA and then got into the mayor postion and kept fighting the corrupt system(s) as she found them. No family is free of faults or problems.Of course she didn't want a child getting pregnant but she handled the situation the right way! She is a multi-tasking mom and she does a good job with it. Some couldn't do this but then there are many GREAT multi-tasking moms out there. They are very active and very nurturing moms still making a difference for good!
Al Gore's son made horrible decisions while GORE was in office. He was arrested many times for driving while intoxicated- why was this not hyped up so! Look at Sarah's good qualities! Look at what she supports.
Read this wonderful blog post! I think you will like this mom's article!

Please stay informed! Pray for the Lord's will!

Sep. 4, 2008 - Not perfect- but a great candidate!

Posted by SchoolinRhome

Do you scutinize your homeschooling moms around you this hard? The families in your church family- are they making all the BEST decisions for their families? Do you tell them if they are not. She will support more things that will help more families in America than anyone else out there! She is NOT perfect but she is sensible, can mulit-task, DOES care for her family and can get things done no matter who she is up against. She isn't afrais to give GOD the glory and stand for her beliefs! WHY wouldn't you endorse her? She isn't EXACTLY what you want- but who would be??? No one is perfect. Her family has stayed bonded through all in the past and this won't tear her family apart- give her some credit!

Why does Sarah get the blame from you with Bristol's decisions, but not Todd, Sarah's husband? Do you believe Todd bears as much responsibility for raising his children as Sarah? Does being a Christian parent guarantee our children won't make undesirable decisions?

Jesus said, "Judge righteous judgement."

Oct. 19, 2008 - I was the Anonymous in the other post, sorry

I agree with SchoolinRhome. I also homeschooled my children/teens for years. Went to a homeschool FIC church where everything was picked apart and judged by "man's" standards.

That is not the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

We will never live up to an exemplary life that pleases God. We can only thank God through our Lord Jesus Christ for His exchanged Life.

How we walk that out with Him is the truly humbling journey each of us must walk. His Word will give us the Light we need for our path, but we must be diligent to study it in context and with a spirit of teachableness, not presumption.

I'm voting for the McCain/Palin ticket because she has inspired me to press on to do those things for which I'm called to do, just like I believe God has called Sarah to do in such a time as this.
