September 19, 2008 Knights and Maidens Morning always starts with breakfast and then 9 AM chapel around here. Today was a visiting pastor and he spoke on Romans 8 – How the Holy Spirit helps us pray. It was very good. Kathy skipped out – skipped lunch, too, and missed the delicious tacos. Nicole was a little blue because Nathan has left for the weekend to go home and see his family. Some of the staff were heading that way, so he hitched a ride with them. Nicole has to go out with a singing group this weekend. After chapel, I stayed behind to do some emailing. I called Jeff and Haley and they drove about an hour to come and see me. I had a goodie box from home for them. As it turns out, they are moving back to Maine at the end of next month. God brought them to NC, Jeff’s homeland, to show them why He wants them to settle down in Maine. We can’t wait to have them back. Before they came I got to walk the loop with Kathy and Michele. Michele walks it every day, but I think she took it a little slower today so I could keep up. After supper we went back to the school for the Knights and Maidens vs. Patriots softball game. There I met up with David and Trisha Troester – who are getting ready to celebrate their first wedding anniversary. David is working a lot laying tiles and doing electrical, as well as finishing up his Masters. Trisha is teaching piano lessons and working on a Bible translation project. They seem very happy but also anxious to move on from their school days and into more practical training for missions. The Risingers play for the Knights and Maidens and knew they had their work cut out for them playing the winning Patriots team. They had nothing to fear. With lots of home runs and some poor fielding by the Patriots, the game was called in the 6th inning due to the 10 run rule. They were really ahead by 11 – Randy being the 11th run. Nicole came home with us after the game to hem some pants for Scott who is wearing them in Erika’s wedding. We also played 31 – the word being “Massey” and Justin coming out on top. As the game wore on Aunt Kathy kept reminding us that she hadn’t gotten her nap and should be going to bed. We keep telling her she’s on vacation. |
