The Triplets

Kathy and Michele went for an early walk.  I think I fell back to sleep.  Randy and Justin have gone off to mow the church lawns.  As if Randy doesn’t have enough lawn mowing to do during the week!  They do it to raise the money for their trip home at Christmas.  Justin’s happy about it because he gets to help.  For safety reasons, he’s not able to help his dad at the school.  He sure would like to, though.

Today we joined some of the college students and Nicole at Broad River for a BBQ.  The weather seemed unseasonably cool, but nice.  It’s a beautiful spot with lots of walking trails along the rippling waters.  We left rather early from the others to make our way to Greenville, South Carolina.  On the way we looked for some cheap gas but when we found it we were only allowed to take 10 gallons.  On the trip home we had to stop at over 5 places before we found a station that even had gas.  We paid $3.69 a gallon as opposed to $4.09 just across the NC line.  Even at that, it took $150+ to fill the tank.

Before we arrived at our destination, we made a pit stop at Krispy Kremes.  I had to call Crysten and rub it in.  She loves that place.  Unfortunately, the light wasn’t on today.

We had a great visit with Brent and Wendy.  Wendy looks tired and will need our prayers once the babies get home.  She has a sleep disorder that keeps her from falling into the deep sleep pattern, so she never wakes up rested.

Brent has done a lot of work on his house since I was there for their wedding two summers ago.  It was like a Ty Pennington walk through.  He’s done a fabulous job on the place.  And the babies’ room is right off the deck and full of bright cheerful windows.  It’s so inviting.

Anna Kate and Matthew are now taking breast milk in a bottle.  That is a huge step for them.  Andrew is still dealing with fluid on his brain and an infection.  The brain bleed has stopped.  All of the triplets are breathing on their own, but Andrew is the one who seems to need our prayers the most right now.  He’s the one they get the most calls about, but he’s also the one that has surprised the doctors most and seems to be a real fighter.

In order bring them home they need to accomplish three things:  two full days of breast milk only and no tube feedings;  they need to fit in a car seat without it causing them any breathing problems;  (If you could see how tiny they are… but Wendy is determined to use what it takes to make the trip home possible for them)  and they need  to be able to keep their body temperature stable in a crib setting.   Anna Kate and Matthew may get home in three weeks.  I pray it will be so.  Andrew will need more time unless he can surprise everyone once again.  They are praying that he will not need a shunt operation and that the fluids will soon take care of themselves.

I stumbled across your blog by searching google for Gregg Harris. May I encourage Brent and Wendy? I pray for healing, strength and courage for them and all of you. As we've witnessed many times since our triplets were born 4 1/2 years ago, God is faithful and His grace is sufficient for all you face. May the joy of the LORD be your strength and may you be sustained by His wide and deep love that was willing to die for those little bitty ones.
