21 August 2008 - Bildungszentrum Stadt Nόrnberg
Sorry for not updating. The kids and I have been enjoying our holiday and not done much. The little one have been working on a FIAR book, Mr. Gumpy's Auto Car. Today we cleaned the porch and planted flowers.
But it is now time to start thinking about new classes for the fall. I found some science class at the Bidungszentrum for ages 4-6. They also have some interesting class for ages 6-10 and over 8 that run in the morning. I would love to see who is going to these classes since kids will be in school at this time
This is what looks like our schedule will look like:
Monday-Art
Tuesday-Science
Wednesday-Sport
Thursday-Music
Friday-English
I will have to see what GTH's school schedule will look like. I would like to split them up if I could we will see.

25 July 2008 - Sternschnuppen
Well we went to the City-Point mall to look at the star stuff and was highly disappointed. There was nothing to do just a bunch of rocks. If you are doing a study of meteorites, you might want to check it out. They have display cases going round the 3rd floor(American 3rd), until August 9. Then they will have the puppets. That is another post I will have to put together.
Study notes: I am have an idea of what I want to do for GTH's education during the school break. GKS is working on writing her letters and numbers. GTS is being the klingon he was always meant to be.
Also, if anyone knows of anyone who is coming to Nürnberg as a homeschooling family, have them email me. The hockey families should be here in a couple of months.

23 July 2008 - Put me in coach.
Monday, we went to the MLB road tour.
There are about 6 more dates.

I was out a few weeks ago and I mentioned that we were going to see the German basketball team play. I was asked if I was a b-ball fan. The truth is while in high school I never went to an games of any sport, but being away from home I search more for things that are American. I would never think of putting my sons on a football team if we were in the States, but now I am looking in to basketball, football and baseball teams.

12 June 2008 - Flags
Today went well. We got up and out early enough to get to the library. Books on Japan and oragami for Grandfather's Journey. I think we may have to go back for books on California. I have found a few folders to make lapbooks out of. Lunch did not go as planned but everyone ended up happy.
While out we counted the different flags we saw. I have set up a sheet that shows some of the major flags that are in the EM that we see often. On just the trip to the library and back, we saw 16 Germany flags, 1 Czech, 1 Italian, and 1 Turkish flag. GKS is loving the flag thing. She took the book I got on flags and started to copy them out.
We then put on our Germany t-shirts and went out to the local beer garden to see the game tonight. Everyone ate well. There is a play area for the kids. Hands and faces washed. Teeth brushed pajamas on and all but GTS went to bed. He need to do a little more coloring, but he did take a late nap earlier. While I was typing he decided to take his pillow and cover and curl up on my bed and go to sleep.
It was a good day.

11 June 2008 - Taking a break from rowing.
I had heard about Five in a Row, but was not sure about it. After looking at it, I have started to put together a list of what we can do here. I think it may be do able here. Beginning of May we worked on "The Story of Ping". I got some picture books of the Yangsi River. In the middle of May we worked on "Harold and His Purple Crayon". The last week of May and the first week of June we worked on "Madeline", I got it from a school library that I can use my normal library card at. I will call and ask for "Grandfather's Journey" next week. I also found "Down, Down the Mountain" as the used english book store in Heidelberg.
So we are now taking a break from that for the EM. I have been cooking around the Union and it has been going pretty well. GKS can put together our wooden puzzle of Europe and because of "Madeline" she can identify France and Germany on the map. The kids are noticing all the flags so I am working on something for that. We went to go see one of the games this evening on the public large screen. The kids got board quick, but were not to bad. I have an idea of what to do if we go again.
Off to the library tomorrow.

4 April 2008 - Week ending April 4
We did a lot, but I don't think we go much done.
GTS and GKS worked on a B page. Color a B and b words and then glued B's on the bottom. Art was canceled do we get to go next week. Music was cancelled also. Wednesday was are biggest day. A friend got her aupair from Kenya. In the morning, we took her around the city. Then we snacked and rest at home for about an hour and a half. Then to Turnien(gym). Then a nice long nap for the kids. Then off to the movies. We got home before 9:30 thankfully. GTH didn't have any tests so it was not to bad. We went to see "Horton hears a Who" in English of course.
Education Update: They both know the basic colors. Slow they are figuring out numbers and letter. The funny thing is that GTS knows what a B is, but GKS struggles with giving the name of the letter. But on the flip side GKS was potty train exactly when she turned 2. GTS , at 3 1/2, can not get the idea of using the pot unless he is naked from the waist down. Children are so interesting.
