JD can see!We were noticing that JD didn't seem to be able to see things far away and we were concerned for him. So we had his eyes checked: It turned out that I could hardly see at all; I needed glasses! I selected these brown, oval glasses and now I can see more of this beautiful part of the country in east Tennessee. First off, I noticed the beautiful rolling hills and the hay being harvested. And I could see the colorful fall leaves! Oh, and the ground dried up so I got to take a spin on the dirt bike!AAAAAAAAAHHH! ![]() Fun Stuff with JDJust a few things JD has done so far hanging out at AGR. I was having a little trouble waking up, but then I discovered NOS. After breakfast I got to play dominoes with Jess, Kit and Nicki The dog that lives here is much bigger than Rusty. We went to the college cafeteria (Dining Facility is it's proper name) for some lunch. I like pizza. The best part was dessert: some great apple cobbler. Unfortunately this student thought I looked like a snack. It's really too bad that it's a bit rainy and the track is muddy. This motorcycle looks like it's gonna be a BLAST to play with. I hope it clears up soon.![]() Traveling JD arrivesJagdish is a boy traveling doll. He's traveling for the very first time and we get to be his first hosts! Here is JD meeting some of the girls who live in the Dolls' House. ![]() JD happened to arrive in time to share lunch time with Rosa, the new girl. ![]() Wednesday is piano lesson day, so JD got to play a little on the piano himself. ![]() The song he learned just happened to be his favorite Queen tune. ![]() Being that Maggie had to go the Hospital this week, JD gets to have his own room in the TreeHouse. ![]() We hope that JD and Rusty will have a grand time with us here at AGR. ![]() RosafinaOur newest girl arrived yesterday from New York. She is a Josefina, but since we already have two Josefinas, we call her Rosafina. She's a modern, Hispanic girl. Meet Rosa![]() Rosa needs some workRecently, I found a BIN $20 Josefina on ebay. So she came to live with us this week. She needed a lot of work. She had one eye that was broken, her torso seemed to be narrower on the top, and she had various paint and dirt marks as is common with play. Rosa's ebay photo.I took off her limbs so I could clean her torso and fluff. I discovered that a previous owner had tried to restring her by filling her arms with plaster and bungee-ing her arms together. That's why her upper body looked so narrow. Her arms were being pulled towards each other at the shoulders! I cracked and removed all the hardened plaster and restrung her properly. As I mentioned, one eye was broken and I've never done an eye transplant, but figured it wouldn't hurt to try on this dolly. I got the eye out, glued back the broken piece, and, with a great deal of effort, got it back in!Here's the eye outside of Rosa's head: ![]() Finally after working on her most of the day, she's a new girl! ![]() Now we have three Josefinas. They are all beautiful in their own way. Josefina (1997) Rosafina (2000) Kayafina (2002)![]() AGBA - SeptemberWe took Willow down to Atlanta to the American Girl Boutique & Bistro last month to have her ears pierced (among shopping, of course) and had a wonderful time. Here are a few pictures of our time there. ![]() The display window that's facing the mall. ![]() The ceiling in the store. Pretty creative. ![]() Willow in the salon chair at the Hair Salon. ![]() Willow visiting Kit in her new kitchen. ![]() Kit, Willow and Ruthie in the tree house. ![]() Willow's new earrings. We had a fun time, as always. The AGBA is always a fun place to visit. ![]() Dolls' Tree HouseThinking that our girls needed some more room, and that a tree house would be fun, last weekend we created our doll sized tree-house. ![]() The rooms are each 24" long by 20" tall by 18" deep. They stand on a real tree stump and have real limbs branching out each side. There is a swing on the left side for the girls to swing and a play yard for the pets on each section near the top. ![]() This sits in the same room as the Dolls' House so it's kind of hard to get far enough away to take a good picture. Anyway, the girls seem to love it. ![]() Little Miss Playthings!During the months of July and August, BeanBunny hosted a photo contest called Little Miss Playthings. There were five different categories of photos to be taken and members of the AGPlaythings forum got to vote on each round. At the end of all the rounds, my Miss Darcy came in 1st Runner Up! We are so excited for her and she is very proud of her accomplishments. Bean made the winner and the runners up these adorable LMPT t-shirts. Darcy's arrived today. ![]() The tiara is from the 2003 Radiant Rhinestones Accessories set, but Miss Darcy has claimed it as her own. Congratulations, Miss Darcy! ![]() School Days!
![]() Ivy LingI hadn't planned on getting all the Best Friend dolls for our Historical girls. However, I ran across a great deal on Ivy and brought her home. I made her this tie-dyed shirt because I really didn't like her meet top. ![]() ![]() DustyWe went to some of the yard sales at the 127 Sale over the weekend where we found and adopted our first Bitty Twin. She's a 2003 blonde, short-haired (retired) girl. Meet Dusty!![]() To the Beach! We took some girls on vacation with us to the beach in Delaware
![]() ![]() Mini-Girls' HouseA couple of months ago we bought an unassembled, fully wooden doll house kit at a yard sale. There must have been 1000 pieces! After several days, 40 some hours, lots of glue, paint and wallpaper, we completed the house. You can see the front of the house in Kealoha's last entry here. And here's a picture of the PC glass-eyed mini-girls in their new house: ![]() As you can see we don't have much furniture yet. And really the girls are a bit off scale to the 1"=1' doll house. We made them their own bunk beds because they wouldn't be able to lie down in a scale, store-bought bed. We bought the fire place, sofa and ottoman at an antique store in Indiana. The house is still a work in progress, but we (and they) love it. ![]() Kealoha's Goodbye!Okay, so now it's time for me to head to my next host's home. I've had lots of fun in Tennessee. Here are a few more pictures of some of the things I did here. ![]() I got to visit the Sunsphere. It's a 266-ft tall structure that was built for the 1982 World's Fair that was held in Knoxville, One of the exhibits at that World's Fair was the introduction of the Rubik's Cube at the Hungarian Pavilion. I got to see it as it's still on display at the World's Fair Park. It's six-foot square! ![]() I even got to buy a small, my sized Rubik's Cube to take home with me.
Oh, and I got to play with the mini-girls' house too. It's so sweet and the mini-girls love their new home.I'm going to miss it here at AGR, but I'm very excited to be continuing my travels. ![]() Goodbye new friends in Tennessee! Love, Kealoha ![]() ![]() Kealoha sees the Kit movie!![]() We had a wonderful time and the movie was FABULOUS! ![]() Love, Kealoha ![]() ![]() Kealoha has some fun!Yesterday was middle-brother's birthday and I got to go with AGR's family to Pigeon Forge, Tennessee where they stayed at this hotel with it's own waterpark! It was lots of fun! ![]() Then we went to NASCAR Speedpark where you get to race go-karts and do lots of other thrill rides all day long. ![]() Here is me with a real NASCAR. You don't get to drive this kind at the Speedpark though. ![]() The boys drove this kind of 'car' all day long. ![]() We stayed 9 hours! I was very tired when we got home, but I had lots of fun! ![]() ![]() Kealoha rides!![]() Then I tried the go-kart. ![]() And after all that excitement, some of the girls and I played in the REAL tree house for a while. That's Kit, me, Charis and Kaya. What fun we had today! Love, Kealoha ![]() ![]() Kealoha goes on a trip!Just as soon as I got to Tennessee, AGR and family went on a trip to Indiana! As every good trip should begin, we started with Krispy Kreme: ![]() After a bit of a drive in Tennessee we arrive in Kentucky: ![]() After a few hours in Kentucky, we finally arrived in Indiana! ![]() There are lots of things to see in Indiana, but mainly we saw this: ![]() We went to Indianapolis and got to spend some time at the world famous Indianapolis Motor Speedway: ![]() And of course while we were up north we had to have some White Castles. ![]() I had a fun road trip, but I'm glad to be back in Tennessee where I can get to know this state better!
Love, Kealoha ![]() ![]() Kealoha's First DayI arrived at AmericanGirlRescue yesterday and was so excited to finally see the Girls' House in real life! It's very grand. The 26 other girls who already live here welcomed me warmly. ![]() Look at this girl who lives at AGR. Doesn't she look like me? That's Lily Flower on the left and me on the right. We could be twins! I was very tired after my journey from Colorado, so the girls let me sleep in their brand new AG bed from the Wyndham Hotel in Chicago! It's very comfortable (although VERY pink!) ![]() I think I'm going to have fun here in Tennessee! ![]() ![]() KealohaWe have a new visitor here with us at AmericanGirlRescue. Traveling Kealoha (GT#4) is originally from Oklahoma. You can read about where she's been so far on her blog: Kealoha's Adventures. ![]() ![]() { Last Page } { Page 1 of 5 } { Next Page } |
