By wisdom a house is built, and by understanding it is established; and by knowledge
the rooms are filled with all precious and pleasant riches. ~Proverbs 24:3-4
• Jun. 12, 2008 - My Homeschooling Scriptures From Step 1
When I prayed last week for my kids and looked up scriptures about teaching my children. My favorite was this one:
Proverbs 24:3,4
"By wisdom a house is built and through understanding it is established; through knowledge its rooms are filled with rare and beautiful treasures."
May I fill my children's rooms (hearts) with rare and beautiful treasures as I increase their knowledge and understanding.
This verse has been important to me in several ways:
1 Timothy 4:8
"For physical training is of some value, but godliness has value for all things, holding promise for both the present life and the life to
come."
1) When I was going crazy over exercising and dieting, God showed my that although being healthy is a good thing, it is not as good as godliness.
2) Although teaching my kids math, science, history, etc. has some value, it is more important to teach them godliness.
One of my goals is this verse:
Psalm 34:11
"Come, my children, listen to me; I will teach you the fear of the Lord."
And this one for me:
Titus 2:7-8
"In everything set them an example by doing what is good. In your teaching show integrity, seriousness, and soundness of speech that cannot be condemned, so that those who oppose you may be ashamed because they have nothing bad to say about us."
And those are just some of the scriptures God gave me about teaching my children. |
