An Apology...

Posted in Updates...

I just want to apologize to everyone for not posting in the past week and hardly the week before.  I've been fervently praying for my friend, Mary...which is far more important to me and GOD
than me posting here.  I thank all of you that have been praying.  It looks very grime.  I'm still praying for a miracle.  I will keep you all posted.  (and I will try to be more diligent on posting)

Blessings!!!

URGENT PRAYER REQUEST

My friend, Mary, who owns my favorite homeschool fellowship board, HSC  and a fellow homeschool mom in CA and is in very very serious and critical condition...I don't want to go into details-GOD knows...I just ask that you would all agree with me in prayer for her complete healing, for peace that passes all understanding to her, and her family and friends.  That her family and friends will speak words of faith and truth according to the WORD of GOD.

NOTHING is impossible with GOD. We must as believers stand in the gap. IT is SO VERY IMPORTANT that we do NOT WAVER in our FAITH. FAITH is... Hebrews 11:1(KJV)
Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen

It is SO VERY IMPORTANT that we...
2 Corinthians 10:5 (King James Version)
Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ

Isaiah 53:5 (King James Version)

But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed.

1 Peter 2:24 (King James Version)

Who his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness: by whose stripes ye were healed.

BFS #8

Part A - Share about your family’s laundry.

Where is it kept? The kids either keep their dirty clothes in baskets in their rooms or they put it in the hamper in the laundry room.

Who does it? I do most of the laundry.  My oldest dd (20yo) does hers and often does ours if she's washing jeans or vice versa.

How does your family sort it?Usually I just say something like who needs colored clothes washed?  or who needs blue jeans washed?

 Do you wash by hand?No

Hang clothes on the clothesline? Not anymore

Make your own laundry soap? Nope...don't have time and not something that really interests me

How often do you do laundry? How many loads each day/week? About 2-3 loads twice a week

Indoor laundry room, in the garage, or laundry mat? Even more fun…share a picture! We now have an indoor laundry room,. In our old house our washer and dryer were out in the garage.  I've had to do laundry in many laundromats...when we were in WA over the summer we lived in an apartment that had a laundry room in the basement.  I would walk outside, down the stairs, down another set of stairs and then use a key to our private laundry room/mat.  It was kinda cool.  When we lived in a motel in MA we use to drive to a laundromat and we would make it a field trip...The ladies at the laundromat were always entertained by us...then there was the tent/campground...Needless to say I am very grateful for an indoor laundry room. PTL...it is my favorite room in the house, because I really like wall paper border in there.

Part B - Do you have an area in your life that you know that the Lord is tugging at some heart strings that needs to be cleaned up? Yes, I've been dealing with forgiving 70 times 7...Christians and non Christians...

Have a testimony of your past struggle(s) that might help another homeschooling mom? Share a piece of your heart (dirty laundry) that you are seeking a good washing or how it got cleaned  up. Sharing with one another is a great way to have your post feel human and real. For this part of the assignment I'm going to refer to an assignment last year...I think it will help many going through some of the struggles I've gone through in the past...

bfs part 1

bfs part2

Part C - FIND a scripture this week that pertains to this assignment to help you with your laundry and share it this week.

Psalm 51:7 KJV
7 Purge me with hyssop, and I shall be clean: wash me, and I shall be whiter than snow.

Lots to say...

Posted in Thoughts...

Have you ever had lots to share, but you don't know where to begin?  I'm there today.  I want to share things about our friend, Jesse.  I want to get my BFS assignment done.  I want to share some things the LORD has been sharing with me and about Campmeeting with Perry Stone at our home church from Wednesday night...so much stuff to share, and I really don't have the time to do it or know where to begin.  Do people actually read my stuff? Does it really matter?  Am I making a difference in anyone's life?  These questions and a whole lot more are going through my head.

Until I have more time...Blessings!

A honey of a movie?

Tonight we saw Bee Movie.  I have to say I really thought it was pretty cute.  At one point (if you see the movie that's almost a pun) I had tears running down my face, because there was something that struck me so funny.  I think I had everyone laughing because of my laughing... There were some things I didn't like about the movie...unfortunately I don't think we can avoid that unless we just don't go to the movies...but I think those things were over my kids' heads.   Here's a Christian review.

Persecuted Church???

Posted in My OPINION!!!

I know I said in my last post I was going to share about our friend Jesse...but I think I'll wait a day or so to gather my thoughts about that...instead I want to share what our Pastor talked about today in church.  He is teaching about the 7 churches in Revelation.  This week he shared about the Church of Smyrna. (Revelation 2:8-11) This is one of two churches in Revelation that nothing negative was written about.  Here's a church that truly was persecuted.  We as US Christians whine and complain about our churches being persecuted and we truly don't even know here in the US about persecution.  We think because the government has taken prayer out of school we are persecuted...Did you know that according to Wilkipedia (under the word religious persecution)...It is estimated that over 1.5 million Christians have been killed by the Janjaweed, the Arab Muslim militia, and even suspected Islamists in northern Sudan since 1984. ???

Can you even image?  I truly can not!  It's funny because last week at church the youth are doing the Sarmaritian Purse Shoeboxes.  Our family decided to do 3.  Yesterday we went shopping.  I think it was some what of an eye opener to my children and myself about how truly blessed we are to live in a FREE country.  Some of these countries live in condition we had over 200 years ago. Maybe they live in even worse conditions than that.  We as Americans forget HOW truly blessed we really are!  Not only do we live in a blessed society physicallyand PTL a modern society, but overall I think we live in a blessed society religiously...yet how often we forget that (I'm preachin' to myself mostly).

Not sure what else I need to or want to say about this...I might be coming back and editing (adding to it) this later...

Blessings!

A loss of a friend...

Posted in Thoughts...

My dh called me yesterday.  I was at my dad's house visiting.  DH called oldest dd's phone to find me (I don't have any reception at Dad's) I guess dh thought dd was at work.  When dd answered dh was crying. (My dh doesn't cry...or shall I say very, very, very seldom) Dd asked what was the matter.  Dad told her.  Dd gasped and started crying too.  I get on the phone and I couldn't even understand dh...then he calmed down and said Jesse had gone hunting with Carlos (two of dh's friends from a previous direct job up in WA...we were there for almost 2 years and have kept in touch with both families) and had a massive heart attack and passed away.  OH MY!  The details were very sketchy...because we found out from an email from another working buddy.  My dh says I want to go up the viewing is tomorrow. "Do you have a problem with that?"he asked. "No"...he hangs up, I guess he spent time getting more info and a flight and flew out this morning at 8 am after driving in from Houston (flights were cheaper form Austin).  I took him to the airport at 5:30...

Dh got a chance to talk to Adrienne, Jesse's wife yesterday...told her he was coming up.  Of course she said it wasn't necessary.  He told her He knew Jesse would want him there to be a strength to her and to some of the other mutal folks they know.  (like Carlos) Adrienne told dh words that really comforted him..."You know Jesse loved you.  Even after you moved he talked about you often."

On the way to the airport another mutal friend called, told dh about the arrangements, etc...dh is still speechless and so sad-I HATE seeing him like that...wish I could take it away and make it better.  (But I know who can, and I'm praying for GOD to comfort him now) Apparently, Jesse, Carlos, and Adrienne were out in Montana on their property deer hunting.  Jesse and Carlos were dragging back some deer that had shot.  Jesse and Carlos were just laughing and enjoying their time together.  Jesse would stop because he would get winded, and say somethin' like I'm not as young as I use to be (I can hear him laughing and saying that too).  They were walking side by side and suddenly Jesse calapsed.  Carlos got him back to the camp, performed CPR, Adrienne took over, Carlos drove out to the main road to get his Onstar to work.  The paramedics came did what they could I guess on the way to the hospital, but he was pronounced dead when they got him to town.

This post isn't turning out the way I thought...I wanted to spend sometime talking about Jesse...but I guess I needed to share all that first...so instead of making this post any longer I think I'll save that for my next post and just ask you all to pray for comfort and strength to Adrienne and all of us that loved Mr. Jesse!

So Tenderhearted

Posted in Family Stuff

(Warning...NOT for the fainthearted)

Yesterday, the kids and I were driving around the corner to go pay some bills in another town.  We went down the hill and around the curve.  There was this yellow corvette in front of us, stopped in the road.  I realized he stopped because there was a small doe sitting in the road.  She apparently had been hit by a car.  Her mouth was bleeding and she wouldn't move.  The yellow corvette guy finally went around her and then I slowly passed.  I called my dh and asked him who I needed to call-the local police?  They have an Animal Control.  The doe needed to be moved out of the road so she wouldn't get ran over and make a mess.  (That part of the road is rather ddifficult to see, so the possibility of someone hitting her was very likely) I call the police explain who I am and the situation.  The dispatcher said Animal Control had gone home for the day, but they'll send an officer out.

Sometime during this whole situation, my youngest dd, broke down and just started crying...."Mommy, I don't want that deer to die" awww bless her little, precious heart...she's so tenderhearted.  I could understand this coming form a 4 or 5 year old, but my dd is now 10.  I explained after we had turned around to make sure the doe didn't get hit, while waiting for the police that sometimes it's better for the deer to die than to suffer.  Glad I did...when we wnet back the doe had got up and she was hobbling bad. Her hoof was kinda just hanging on.  It was rather yucky...(thank goodness I told my dd not to look) She had hobbled into the woods next to the road. I got out of the car to keep an eye on her. The policeman came and I showed him where she was.  I was hoping he'd put her down instead of making her suffer and continue in pain.  I think she had blood coming out of her nose too.  We left...

My dd was still crying...which then I started crying.  I tried to explain to dd well at least it wasn't a person...it would be better if the policeman put her down than for her to suffer...this wasn't going well...I was still crying..."How do you think Mommy felt when she ran over the birds?"...not helping!!!  Then I thought of my friend ~C...and how she would be laughing over us crying over a deer... (if you go see ~C's blog, you'll know what I mean...) and that sorta cheered us both up...at least for a little while...

then there was before bed again...

that girl will NEVER be able to work as a vet or a medical person...she'd break down too often!

A New Day...

Posted in Thoughts...

How is it said in "Anne Shirley"? Today is new with no mistakes in it...Something like that...Ms. Stacey says it to Anne...That's one of the reasons I love each and everyday!  This is the day the LORD has made I will rejoice and be glad in it!!!!  All the things from yesterday are gone, I can't change them...but today is new and I can make an effort to work on my mistakes...and besides I can do all things through Christ!  How bout you?  Is there anything weighing you down?  Do you have something you need to forgive yourself for?  Something that God has and will forgive you for?  Ask HIM...tell HIM...See what a difference your attitude will be, knowing that GOD is there waiting with open arms. Start each and everyday remembering it's a new day, but you know what?  If you mess up this one, just go to OUR FATHER, ask for forgiveness, and move on...there's no condemnation for those in Christ Jesus!  I hope each person reading this has a blessed and properous day!

Seven Facts about me-TAG!

Posted in Just for fun

My friend, Trusting Daily, tagged me...well not actually.  If I read it on her blog she said considered yourself tagged....so here goes....

Seven Facts about me that you might not already know...

1.  I love to read maps (I wonder why...not because my dad was a navigator in the Air Force or because I travel so much, ya think?)

2. I love to read cookbooks (Yeah, I bet that's real surprising since I love to cook)

3.  I appreciate ballet and the opera-even though I hardly know anything about either.

4. I love to sing...and those that know me know I'm making a joyful noise.

5. I love to play in the snow and miss it lots, but don't want to live in because I can't drive in it. (my younger childhood I was brought up in the North, we moved to TX when I was 12...learned how to drive in TX...I can drive in snow if I have to, as long as the roads are cleared)

6. Green is my favorite color because it reminds me so much of the outside and all tthe beautiful things GOD's created.

7. I love to fish!

Okay your turn...you're IT!!! (unless of course you've already done it)

I ain't NO Fried Pickles Momma, minestrone soup and a whole lot more...

It's early...I couldn't sleep...not that I'm not tired-so I probably go back to bed in a little while for a bit.

Last night the girls and I watch "Sweet Home Alabama".  There's some stuff I don't like about the movie, on the otherhand there's some things I just find hilarious.  (Yes, I know morally probably not the best movie to watch, but I'm not a movie critic and I'm the one that will have to answer to GOD for my bad tv choices...and other choices...) One of my favorite scenes is when Andrew's mother comes for a visit to Earl and Pearl's house. Earl invites her in for a drink and Pearl says something like,  "Well come on in, I just made a hot fresh batch of fried pickles. They just come out the grease"  Now I know in the south fried pickles are indeed eaten...but I'm not sure how often they get served as soon as the city folk come on in.  Needless to say, I find that quite funny and so last night when we're watching the movie the girls and I are comparing characters to our own family...sayings or doings that resemble something one of us might do or say...when we got to that line, I piped up, "Well I ain't NO fried pickle Momma!"  and the girls and I had quite a good laugh!  So if you come to my house, I doubt you'll get the traditional southern fried pickles as an appetizer.  You might get homemade chips and salsa or rotel cheese dip though!

***

I realized last night my blogs not a whole lot about homeschooling...probably for 2 reasons...

1. We use School of Tomorrow aka ACE, not a whole lot to talk about there...I could talk about what the kids are studying if anyone really wants to know....

2. We spend a lot of time learning outside the house...well where else would we learn, we're never home!   So we try to make every adventure a learning experience. I'd rather blog about that!

***

As mentioned in the title of this post, Minestrone Soup...

I have a great recipe I got off of one of my favorite homeschool sites...CHFWEB, so I thought because it's starting to finally get chilly out for us Texans...and I know it's cold where some of you other folks are...

Minestrone Soup

1 Tablespoon vegetable oil
1/2 cup onion
1 large garlic clove, minced
3 1/2 cups chicken broth
1-15 oz Great Northern beans, drained and rinsed
1 1/2 cups water
6 oz tomato paste
1 teaspoon Itailian herb seasoning(or basil, thyme, oregano)
1/4 teaspoon black pepper
2 cups sliced zucchini
10 oz. frozen mixed vegetables
1/3 cup small pasta (I use small shells)

Saute' onion and garlic in oil until tender. Add beans, broth, water, tomao paste, herbs and pepper. Bring to boil. Reduce heat, cover and simmer for 10 minutes. Add zucchini, mixed vegetables and pasta. Return to boil, stirring occasionally. Uncover and reduce heat to low. Cook for additional 8-10 minutes.

Freeze up to 4 months.

Almost done...

Posted in Just for fun

Yep, I'm almost done Christmas shopping...okay, probably not really, but I've got a really good start.  I'm more than half-way done with my kids, got my dad covered, my sister covered...I think that's a pretty good start!  Last night I called my dad and his wife A...I asked A, "So A, What would you like for Christmas?  I'm close to being done and your one of the last people I need to shop for".  She as usually cracked me up by telling me it's only October! "Yes, I know that A, but I can't get done if I don't know what you want..." I told her...and then said she could let me know in the near future...as long it's by the day after Thanksgiving...because I love Black Friday...anyone wanna join me????

Rain, Rain go away....Detailing and baseball...

Posted in Just for fun

We probably need the rain now...but over the summer...while I was gone...thank goodness...we had plenty, so we might not be in need of it afterall...

I'll be driving to Houston to visit dh.  I think while I'm there, I'll go visit a few friends...and get my van detailed.  Oh it's in need of a good cleaning and I just don't have the energy or time...well maybe I have both and just don't feel like doing it.  We practically live in the car and so often it needs a really, really good cleaning...one that even I can't do. So I'll probably break down and pay to have it done.  It's needed it so desperately since we've been back from all our summer adventures...I'll probably end up checking out some apartments while there too, so dh doesn't have to keep forking out bucks for a hotel room...

Well my dad's Indians didn't make it to the World Series...what a bummer.  The Red Sox did and we like the Sox, but they already won the World Series a few years ago, so we were hoping the Indians would go...

Let's see in other news...

I had ants taking over my kitchen...pesty little critters...the other day while here on the computer my #2 dd called out, "Mom there are ants all over the counter and in the chips!"  She wasn't joking...I'm surprised they hadn't figured out how to pick up the bag and carry it off!!!  Thank goodness dh sprayed and now we have no sightings!!! They were fire ants too-ick!   Not to mention we had some nice little scorpions too-YUCK!!!  Hopefully with the cold and spray they're gone too...

Oh, and Dad did take the girls to the movies the other night when ds and I went to see the Newsboys..they saw the new movie with the Rock...can't think of the name right now, but all of them said they enjoyed it and dh said he didn't remember hearing any bad words or there weren't any bad scenes.

If you come by, I really enjoy your comments...so please take a minute and leave one and let me check out your blog!

Blessings and until next time!

Incredible!!!!

Posted in Just for fun

Yes, I'm here to report that the Newsboys concert was incredible!!!  I was REALLY impressed with how they gave the salvation message after 2 songs and not at the end of the concert.  It was one of the best concerts I've ever been to that really ministered the WORD.  I've been to a lot of Christian concerts and they seem to always minister the WORD...but I really liked how the Newsboys did it!
