Aug. 19, 2008~ First "No Procrastination Challenge" ~
Today I am starting a Anti-Procrastination Meme. I really didn't expect to have 3 meme's but sense I had sooooooo much fun with my friend Shani and our anti-procrastination challenge that I HAD to share the fun with YOU.
This is where you pick something you have been procrastinating on and need a extra nudge and encourgement on. Sooo, you share it on your blog with us and a time frame you woud "like" to get it done. ( doesn't mean you can't get that time frame extended if you need it) Then come here and sign Mister Linky so we can visit you and encourage you in your Anti-Procrastination Project.
Okay another discription is ( from my friend Shani)
"To participate, choose a project that you have been avoiding like the plague, snap a before picture, write a little bit about it, post your photo, set a time limit, then head over to Mary's to be held accountable. Yes, posting a photo of it is absolutely necessary. Otherwise, that mortification that is 90% of your motivation is absent. Trust me, you are not alone. "
Hee he...I thought this a PERFECT definition and HAD to include it for you.
Okay...here is my Anti-Procrastination Challenge.
We have been in the "House That God Built" for a year and a half now. I have a "temperary" storage space aka future upstairs bathroom. I REALLY want to get it all cleaned out because my Handsome said if I did. I would get my bathroom that will have my claw foot tub ! I LOVE to soak in the bathtub for my sanity time and theraphy and I am determined to get this done! I haven't had a good tub time sense we moved out of the rental. Time frame ???? I really want it done in 1 to 2 weeks.

Here is the before pic
Please scroll down and see todays Tightwad Tuesday Post too.
Aug. 18, 2008~ Tightwad Tuesday~ Electric Skillet Cooking ~
I am hoping to change over to more Electric Skillet Cooking soon. It is a lot cheaper than cooking in the oven. Plus it doesn't heat the house up as much. It is even better (less heating of your house) if you put it outside on your deck if you have a electrical outlet out there.
Aug. 18, 2008~ Busy Monday with Handsome at Larid Creek Farm ~
Today is a usual busy day on Larid Creek Farm during harvest time. This morning started off nice with a walk with Handsome.
Then picking and sausing transparent apples. I also picked almost the last of the raspberries with the boys. I am very happy with how much raspberries we picked. I will be able to jam a lot for the winter. ((happy dance))
We are also trying to squeeze in a couple more swims before summer ends.
I had to let you know about a NEAT contest my friend Rosina is having !
she has a copy of Pirateology ~ A Pirate Hunter's Companion by Candlewick Press. It's written from a pirate hunter's point of view and is packed with all sorts of little tuck ins. There are ships logs, navigation, written letters, all sorts of pockets to open and find treasures, knot tying lessons with leather ropes to practice on and so much more. It will keep them reading for hours if not months! It's also perfect for reluctant readers as they make it so much fun to explore the life of a pirate that they just have to read it *grin*.
Now for all of you mama's out there! She's got a fun 8" x 8" scrapbook kit for you :) It includes a 4 ring chipboard binder that is a completely blank canvas so you can decorate it to fit any type of photos you want to put in it, acid free page protectors, double sided patterned paper, textured card stock, alphabet and number stickers, 2 sheets of die cut chipboard and ribbon. This would be perfect as a school album for all of those great photos and artwork I just know you are going to collect this coming school year!!
Contest closes at 11:59pm PST, Friday August 22nd.
Aug. 14, 2008~ Show and Tell Friday~ Pretty Pickles and Flowers ~

Plus, I was having a hard day the other day. And while I was on the phone with my Handsome I said. I NEED some flowers to pick me up. ((sniff, sniff))
Guess What !?!
He brought me some home. ((heart melting and surprised.)
.
.
Thank you Lord for my Handsome.

Aug. 13, 2008~ A Not So Wordless Wednesday~ A Rainy Day At Larid Creek Farm ~
Well Good Morning ,
Life has been very full. I remember as a girl that I would look forward to rainy days ( in the Greater Seattle area) b/c it slowed things down and you could cuddle up with a hot cocoa and a GOOD book. I am longing for one of these days right now. This is the time a year that I am in the garden helping my Handsome and MIL or preserving the food. I am also trying to get the house more in order and some projects done. And..... then there is the issue of our lesson plans for the year !
I start to feel paniky and overloaded and crave a slow rainy day to piddle around and rest my soul. I need to find a way to have that amongst the business. I know that God will pull all the pieces together. I need to just plug away each day. I need to set a timer for 30 min -1 hr a day and work on my lesson plans and know it will all come together. I need to keep reminding myself this.
I have been craving time to create. A time to get back to my art. Last night I was at a friends house for the appreciation night for those who volenteered at the VBS/Jerusealem Market theme. She and her husband had it so we watched "Fiddler On the Roof" underneath the stars on a BIG 8'x12' screen. Talk about NEAT-O time. We also got to see shooting stars during the movie up in the night sky !!!
If you haven't seen that movie in a long time or at all I really suggest too !! I did feel sorry for the old father b/c of how he viewed God and his life. But he loved God dispite his poverty. If you can know God loves a poor person too and know you are blessed even if you don't have earthly wealth you can have the BEST life ever. I think it is probably easier to follow God as a poor person than a rich person b/c you don't replace God with your things. You don't get self relient. You HAVE to keep your eyes on him for your sanity. Thank you Lord for my life. It is a VERY GOOD one. PTL
Well I am going say BE BLESSED in the LORD today. (((HUGS)))
Aug. 11, 2008~ Tightwad Tuesday~ Saving Seeds From the Garden ~
Saving Your Own Seeds Form The garden
We save as many seeds that we can from our garden for the next years garden. Here I am supporting the parsely plants while they are going to seed.
1. find a pole that is a foot taller than the plants.
2. Then chop bottom of the pole into a rough point. Pound in the pole till it is this tall. ( where I am holding my hand. [0= Here is Luke pounding in the pole. ( I love it when my boys help) Here I am stringing around the 4 poles and plants. This is what it looks like when you are done.
Some plants like leeks, mustard greens, and lettuce greens only need one pole. These are leeks in the pic down below.
I do plan to show how we save seed for all the plants we do in another post. And the next stage. So do stay tuned.
The second link is the book we used to learn how to save our own seed.
