How often do you have:

Posted in General

One of those days...?  I try hard not to have them at all -and YES - you can avoid them.  I see them coming, and determine to handle the circumstances in a God-honoring way, rather than reverting to the flesh.  No... it's not always easy, and no, I don't always do what I ought, but I sure strive to do this, more and more.

Today was one of those days.  Not only did the Lord quickly bring to my remembrance some tips someone recently gave me to divert the circumstances into productive things - I did just that, and the rest of the day went very smoothly.

Praise God, I think I might finally be growing up.  My mom will be delighted to hear this, lol.

Would you mind sharing the tips that helped you? There sure are days that I could use some tips on turning what could have been a bad day into a good one.

Jun. 30, 2005 - Helpful tips

Hi Victoria,

the specific kind of "one of those days" I had yesterday, was the ever-popular "I'm a kid and I'm going to trash every room in the house" days. My 7yr old, 6yr old and 4yr old are like roving demolition triplets. I have large issues with a clean, tidy, organized house, so dealing with the trash&mess crew isn't always easy for me. Someone once suggested to me that instead of getting upset with them (they're kids, this is their job, to mess things up) declare war on messy rooms, and send in the soldiers to bring things back to order, lol. So that's what I did.

Kids... this is war. Each room, is a mess. You, and you, and you, will clean up this, that, and that, and once that's done, come back and see me for further orders - then I went with them to each room they messed up, and made sure everything was done, and done properly, and checked and re-checked under beds, behind doors, etc. I did it all with a smile, and helped each of them in little ways, and encouraged them all along "okay, this is great, this area is awesome, now let's look over here".

In less than an hour, we had this great big ole house, and the porch, and the yard, cleaned up.

It doesn't always work this way, and I'm just real glad it did yesterday. Now let's see if I can do it again today! lol
