Tuesday, October 14, 2008 - I Must Look Easy to Bribe

I woke up this morning from a series of trilogy of dreams. I will share the third because that is the one that put a smile on my face.

I was behind the counter in a convenience store. But not a present-day convenience store, the kind I grew up with, a neighborhood store my parents called "the corner store." But (if you had seen parts I & II of the dream trilogy you would know why)I was not employed there. (That part may have been inspired by an experience of Devastatingly Handsome the other day. He took Miss Dog Lover's watch to Wal*Mart for a new battery and the clerk was Battery-Replacing-Challenged -- she sprung the pin across the room and lost one of the screws. Devastatingly was not convinced by her saying 3 screws would be good enough and so went behind the counter himself on his hands and knees to find it. This wigged out Miss Dance and Miss Language, who knew Devastatingly had been there just a few seconds ago, looked around, could not see him anywhere (he's rather tall) and then saw him pop up behind the counter. Anyhow.)

So in comes some sort of customer, asking me to do something illegal - sell her something (I think nasturtium seeds) that 1) was not legal and 2) the store did not stock and 3) I did not work there, anyhow. I explained this to her but she wanted to bribe me. She opened her sweater vest like the guys with trenchcoats full of expensive watches and instead of pockets, it was embroidered a country-style sampler listing the things she wanted to use to bribe me. Sorry I was too lazy to stitch it up and photograph it for a blog photo, but I have a life. I look forward to the day when I can download dreams directly to my blog. Picture a lovely border and these words in the center:

Applesauce

Cookies

Chocolate Milk

I won't even go into the part about my husband telling her not to mess with me because I'm "a killer" or her and her cohort, Magnum PI, sliding out to escape on their bellies like penguins. I always thought Magnum was a good guy.

I thought I had strange dreams.
And it doesn't help anymore that they've now become prophetic. *L*

*dies laughing* Hmm.... I think I'd try negotiating for a better bribe - like a month's worth of dark chocolate or something.

Sliding like penguins would be fun! I would totally do that to escape! *sudden suspicion* Was I the person trying to bribe you?

Take a pregnancy test.

Hope you don't mind, but I borrowed your Big Read post. I think the list of books that I copied and pasted from another site is a bit different than yours. Oh well...
