Monday, October 27, 2008 - Rocky the Flying Squirrel Took His Last Flight
I believe I had a once-in-a-lifetime experience Sunday morning.
I had just gotten up and gone to the window, opening the curtain and hitting the on button on the dehumidifier, when I heard the boom of a transformer blowing out on the electric pole. I looked up, and saw Rocky flying out of the pole, about 6 feet due south of the pole, before he dropped to the ground. Never saw anything like that before.
Devastatingly Handsome called the electric company as we dressed in the dark and changed the breakfast plan to cold cereal. They were quick about it and power was restored as we ate our cereal. But to Mr Music's disgust, they did not haul Rocky's body away. So, Devastatingly took care of that after worship, of course, after taking advantage of the opportunity for a lecture on not getting a second chance with electricity, and taking a photo of the fallen rodent. If you scroll slowly over the photo, you can almost hear bagpipes playing a dirge for Rocky.
