I love to plan. Oddly enough, I love adventures, too, even though my family doesn't always love dealing with their stressed-out mom in the middle of them.
HSB is celebrating its one-year anniversary. I thought I'd throw up a contest in their honor and in honor of the adventurer's spirit.
Here's how it works:
Post on your blog (or find an old post) about something adventurous you and your family has done.
Post a comment here linking me to your blog so I know where to find it.
I'll select a winner at random (since adventure is a bit personal and choosing one for merit might be impossible) and post it here on May 30th.
What do you win? Since I've been pushing Geocaching lately, I thought I'd encourage the sport by giving out a free (new and unused) copy of The Complete Idiot's Guide to Geocachingand a compass. You can do a form of Geocaching with just a compass until you get your own GPS receiver (sorry, I can't afford to give away one of those *laugh*).
If you just don't think you can come up with an adventurous post of your own, feel free to post a link to someone else's post. If you're still at a lost, post an entry on your own blog advertising the contest and then leave a comment here linking me to the ad. No one ever said adventure had to be hard. :)
I posted about your contest and blogged an early-in-marriage adventure. Thanks for hosting this contest!

Our big adventure recently has been purchasing the family homestead a year ago and trying to fix it up to move out there to the country (3.5 hours away). Here is the post from one of our last family trip out there (before late stages of pregnancy and a newborn kept me from going along).

And a bit about our family and our journey to moving to the homestead.

And some might consider our recent homebirth (6th child, 2nd homebirth) an adventure.

And keeping track of my 2 yo is a bit of an adventure.

Other than this, we're rather boring. Well, not exactly. We have been camping and rapelling with my parents and sisters, but that was nearly 3 years ago.
Well I'm not sure I have time to post and leave you a link for your contest so I jsut wanted to tell you a little about my adventurous son. He's now 18. Last year he took us to a favorite spot of his called Small's Falls. It's a gorgeous hiking spot with several layers of waterfalls. The waterfalls and cliffs are 60 feet high and above. Well, he hiked up ahead of us with one of his friends. I remember getting to a spot near the first cliff and he and his friend were opposite us on the other side. I'm still not sure how they got there so quickly ahead of us except for the fact that I had two little ones hiking beside me. Anyway, as soon as We got to within sight of them, they jumped. Right off the 60 foot cliff into the water below. At about the same time my stomach jumped right up into my throat. He and a friend had been there before and had been cliff jumping several times. While he's told me about it before, it's just not quite the same as witnessing it unexpectedly.
