Who are you chosing to be your friends?

Friends are a big part of your life, and effect you more then you know.

God put friends in your life for a reason! Some build you up, and some tear you down. But what exactly does it been to use the terms: Build you up, and tear you down?

Friends that build up:

In my opinion, a friend that 'Builds you Up,' is somebody who is a true friend. They don't insult you, they tell you the truth, they are completely honest, and many more things. But what about the things that they do? Does the music they listen to effect you at all? what about the way they talk?

Friends that tear down:

You may not think that these are big deals, but they do more then you know. A friend that swears can sometimes have a big effect on you. Say you never swear. What happens when they swear around you? Do you talk to them about it, or just nod it off?

Nodding it off isn't always the best thing to do. Then, they don't get the picture and they will keep doing it, without noticing what it does. And what about the music they listen to? What if you are not allowed to listen to it? you may think it isn't a big deal because your parents aren't there, or you think that once in a while won't hurt.

But it does effect you, more than you know.

People may tell you to let those friends go. But that isn't always the best idea. If you don't tell them what's going on, they won't know what they need to work on, and it wouldn't be very fair to them. Be an influence on them! Be a friend that builds up, and talks to them about problems.

Sometimes friendships do end though, and that can be painful.

Proverbs 12:26

A righteous man is cautious in friendship,
but the way of the wicked leads them astray.

What's keeping you from God?

Have you ever had an addiction? Not drugs, but something that kept you away from God? Or does it still keep you away from God?

I have. Whether it's the computer or something else, we all have one, believe it or not. Say it's something that isn't that bad, to something that you can't tell ANYONE. And you mean nobody. Something only you and God know about. Even if it isn't that bad, should you be doing it? Is it something that has scarred you forever, or is eating at you slowly right now? And do you feel guilty for doing this, for hours, when you could be spending time with God?

I had this problem. And today I made a decision that was long in coming. I mean, I'm not saying what it was. It could be lame, it could be bad. Anyway, I was tired of doing it I took control.

Exodus 15:6:

"Your right hand, O LORD,
       was majestic in power.
       Your right hand, O LORD,
       shattered the enemy."

In this case, His right hand shattered my enemy.

I grabbed that thing and I smashed it. I took it apart, and I threw it away.

Matthew 5:29-30.

"If your right eye causes you to sin, gouge it out and throw it away.                              It is better for you to lose one part of your body than for your whole body to be thrown into hell.                                                                                                              And if your right hand causes you to sin, cut it off and throw it away. It is better for you to lose one part of your body than for your whole body to go into hell."

What is that thing that's keeping you from God? Are you ready to take a big step, and get rid of it?

Can You Believe The Unbelievable?

Can you believe the unbelievable?

Jesus gave his disciples power to drive out demons (Mark 3:14-15). But the disciples can't heal this particular boy who has an evil spirit. Why? (Matthew 17-19). The boy's father has heard of Jesus and his disciples and the many people they have healed, so he brings his son. But when he says, "If you can," he shows he doesn't really believe in Jesus.

*How does Jesus answer him (Mark 9:23)?

*What does the father ask Jesus to do (Mark 9:24)?

Read Joshua 6:1-20.

Read About It

"1 Now Jericho was tightly shut up because of the Israelites. No one went out and no one came in.

2 Then the LORD said to Joshua, "See, I have delivered Jericho into your hands, along with its king and its fighting men. 3 March around the city once with all the armed men. Do this for six days. 4 Have seven priests carry trumpets of rams' horns in front of the ark. On the seventh day, march around the city seven times, with the priests blowing the trumpets. 5 When you hear them sound a long blast on the trumpets, have all the people give a loud shout; then the wall of the city will collapse and the people will go up, every man straight in."

6 So Joshua son of Nun called the priests and said to them, "Take up the ark of the covenant of the LORD and have seven priests carry trumpets in front of it." 7 And he ordered the people, "Advance! March around the city, with the armed guard going ahead of the ark of the LORD."

8 When Joshua had spoken to the people, the seven priests carrying the seven trumpets before the LORD went forward, blowing their trumpets, and the ark of the LORD's covenant followed them. 9 The armed guard marched ahead of the priests who blew the trumpets, and the rear guard followed the ark. All this time the trumpets were sounding. 10 But Joshua had commanded the people, "Do not give a war cry, do not raise your voices, do not say a word until the day I tell you to shout. Then shout!" 11 So he had the ark of the LORD carried around the city, circling it once. Then the people returned to camp and spent the night there.

12 Joshua got up early the next morning and the priests took up the ark of the LORD. 13 The seven priests carrying the seven trumpets went forward, marching before the ark of the LORD and blowing the trumpets. The armed men went ahead of them and the rear guard followed the ark of the LORD, while the trumpets kept sounding. 14 So on the second day they marched around the city once and returned to the camp. They did this for six days.

15 On the seventh day, they got up at daybreak and marched around the city seven times in the same manner, except that on that day they circled the city seven times. 16 The seventh time around, when the priests sounded the trumpet blast, Joshua commanded the people, "Shout! For the LORD has given you the city! 17 The city and all that is in it are to be devoted [a] to the LORD. Only Rahab the prostitute [b] and all who are with her in her house shall be spared, because she hid the spies we sent. 18 But keep away from the devoted things, so that you will not bring about your own destruction by taking any of them. Otherwise you will make the camp of Israel liable to destruction and bring trouble on it. 19 All the silver and gold and the articles of bronze and iron are sacred to the LORD and must go into his treasury."

20 When the trumpets sounded, the people shouted, and at the sound of the trumpet, when the people gave a loud shout, the wall collapsed; so every man charged straight in, and they took the city."

The people living in Jericho wonder what is going on. Why in the world are 40,000 Israelite soldiers marching around their city- without saying anything? And why do the priests keep blowing trumpets? It's been the same thing every day for 6 days. On the seventh day, something new happens--the army marches around the city seven times. After the seventh time, the Israelites give a loud shout and the wall of Jericho comes crashing down.

Do you think the Israelites were a little surprised when God said they'd defeat a city by blowing trumpets and walking around the wall? They had just seen God part the Jordan River so they could easily cross on dry land. (Joshua 3:1-17). This gave them confidence. The people trusted in God, and they showed their faith by obeying God's command, It's their faith in the Lord that makes the wall of Jericho fall (Hebrews 11:30).

Experience It

Do you believe God can do anything? Think back over your life and look for ways God has helped you in ways you never thought he would. Ask family member if they have experienced amazing things God has done when doubt may have been hanging around. Ask for Jesus' help to conquer your disbelief. He will lovingly lend a hand just as he did with the father in Mark 9. Praise him for the work he's already done in your life.

End it by 2025.

So there are these really cool shirts that I've been seeing around! They are like really awesome. I didn't even know they had a specific purpose, until I bought one. On the front of the shirt, there is a peace sign. Then on the bottom (left if you are wearing it) right corner, it says '2025.' If you look closely at the peace sign, it's actually the continent of Africa. I hadn't known how popular these shirts were! Apparently, 25% of the proffits from selling these shirts goes to a company to end poverty in Africa by 2025. Isn't that cool?

Ashley Tisdale in a 2025 shirt.

You can go to mytrendytees.com to find these shirts. Search for Omni-Peace 2025.. or something like that. Or, go to Google.com to search this organization and find more ways to help. I bought mine at Fred Meyer... You don't have to buy one, but please remember to pray for them.

Prayin or donating can help:

Them

Them

Him

Them

I am not advertising for this. It may seem like it, but I'm not. I think it would be very cool to end poverty by 2025. It's a while from now, but still.

If you can not donate, then please remember these people in your prayers every day. Money helps, but prayer is the ultimate. God will heal, God will redeem. He will help.

Update

Hey guys.

Here's an update on my last post:

The girl had the abortion. Thank you So much for the prayers though.

I don't understand why people need to get abortions.

Abortion or Birth?

1. Your pregancy ends with death.

1. Your pregancy ends with giving life.

2. You will feel shame and guilt about your choice.

2. You can feel good and positive about your choice.

3. You will remember taking a life.

3. You will remember giving birth.

4. Abortion if final; you can't go back on your decision.

4. You will have plenty of time to plan your and your baby's future.

5. You will never know, or treasure your baby.

5. You can hold, name, and love your baby.

6. You will miss the opportunity to see your child develop.

6. You can have continued contact with your child.

If murder is illegal, abortion should be too.

If you don't want your child, don't punish him with your mistake! Adoption is an option. I hate abortion. It SHOULD be illegal.

Verses through pregnancy

Hey guys.

Over the past through days, my friend has been telling me about her sister that moved to New York for college.

I'm going to name them: her sister: Melonie. Melonie's roomate: Julie.

Apparently, Melonie's roomate got pregnant. She doesn't know how to deal with it, so she is having an abortion. Please pray for Julie, that God will give her guidance and wisdom through this! Please pray that she will not have an abortion.

So my friend called me just now asking me to look up some Bible verses about trusting God through hard times, and how to have wisdom. Verses of guidance. Her sister is needing them to read to Julie.

I have 13 picked out to read to her. if you have any suggestions, PLEASE share them. I think she was trying to schedule the abortion for late next week.

Erica

Proverbs 3:4-6

4 Then you will win favor and a good name
in the sight of God and man.

5 Trust in the LORD with all your heart
       and lean not on your own understanding;

6 in all your ways acknowledge him,
and he will make your paths straight.

Who do you trust?

Hey! Here's a new one:

Who do you trust?

When something happens to you, or if you are going through something, you might talk to a friend, counselor, pastor, or family member. Sure, they give you advice and make you feel somewhat better most of the time, but there is someone else who wants to talk to you, His name is Jesus. He wants to know everything that's going on in your life, and He wants to comfort you! Jesus, your comforter. Even if you don't feel better right away, you should know that He hears you. Even if it seems like He's far away, He is near you. And He loves you more than you could ever know!

I'm sure we've all had that time when we were too upset to talk to anyone. To the point where you'd get mad just because someone offered their ears. I've had times where my best friend would tell me to just talk to God because He hears and wants to comfort me. But whenever I tried, I would stop after, "Dear God..." then say, "Nevermind." and just go back to being upset. It's hard to admit you are in pain. But there is a little thing called TRUST. You can trust in God. You may have been taught that God can be trusted, but maybe you aren't really sure.

Trusting God does not mean He will tell you what's going to happen in the future. It means you know you are safe with Him--no matter what happens. You can take on life's adventures and you can meet your troubles head-on because you know God is with you. Trusting God allows you to enjoy all the surprises of life and to go through all the difficulties of life.

Read 2 Samuel 7:28:

O Sovereign LORD, you are God! Your words are trustworthy, and you have promised these good things to your servant.

This verse means that God is "Trustworthy" and He has promised good things to His "Servant" us.

Say a prayer to God. Tell Him everything that's going on in your life. Your happiness, sadness... aches... He will rescue you. Bring your hurts, bring your scars, bring the load that you carry and He will give you rest. That is out of a song called 'My Redeemer Lives.' and it is all true.

~CL~

back to His promise

Hello everyone!

So what have you all been doing? I've been busy, and BORED. But I just wanted to tell you something, one of the reasons I haven't been posting as much.

When I first started this blog, I was SO close to God one day. ONE, day. And I also felt bad that I hadn't been spending much time with Him. So I started ChristLover to talk about God. But I started to fade away. I started turning my back on God, and I didn't feel ready for this blog.

But now, after going to camp, I realize that I am ready! I've commited my life to God, and plan on commiting to this blog.

So I'm sorry I haven't been posting. I'll start posting those studies and encouraging posts again soon.

What's the real polution?

Today my dad, brothers, and I, went to see the new movie Hancock. And you know what? It was horrible! We left after the first 10 minutes! It was so full of swearing, and obscene, perverse things. I would never recommend that movie.

But it got me thinking. So much lately I hear about cars and smoke polluting the earth. But what about the real pollution? Lots of people don't think about swearing and sexual humor as pollution. Sure, it doesn't pollute the earth. But you know what it does pollute? Your heart and mind.

Everytime you swear, or watch it in a movie, it drops a little piece of garbage into your mind. And you know what happens after you get all of those little  pieces of garbage? You get a big pile. And piles turn into dumps. Pollution. Personally, I do care about the environment. I'm just not an enviromentalist. I don't freak out and say, "Go green!" I recycle, I pick up trash, I don't litter. But sadly, it's not always that way with my heart. Sometimes I take the Lord's name in vain. I try hard not to, but sometimes it just slips out. And that's the problem! Sometimes you start doing it or hearing it so much, it becomes a habbit. A part of you that you don't want there.

Even in shows and music, movies and friends that you hang out with all of the time. It gets hard.

This might be a weird entry, but it's totally true. There are 2 kinds of pollution, but we don't even realize it.

CL

PS: I found this entry in my drafts section. So I didn't really go see Hancock today, I saw it in like July.

Songs and entries! Plus prayer requests!

Hey everybody! How are you all doing? I haven't posted in a long time. I'm so sorry! I'll try to keep up now. Right now, I know that God wants me to take on this blog again.

Over the past few months, since the last time I've posted, God has been working hard in my life. I feel like He planted a spark in me that is growing into a roaring fire. I can't explain it. My best friend, Emily, is so amazing. She's been taking challenges to get closer to God, like fasting, praying and reading her Bible. It's just amazing how dedicated she is!

She encouraged me a couple of months ago to fast. It wasn't a food fast, but I fasted things that were taking up some of the valuable time that I could be spending with God. I took a 1 week challenge. Sadly, I didn't stick to it. I kept finding excuses to get on the computer and watch TV. I was fasting electronics!! I hardly survived! I'm ashamed to say that. So I am going to take that challenge again. I'm going to really shut off the TV and turn off the computer for a while. I don't know why, but lately God has really been speaking to me. I know that he has something big planned for my life. And I don't know what, but I hope I will know soon.

Part of me thinks that he is calling me to missions, but I'm only 12 years old! What could I possibly do? I know about that thing in the Bible, I'm not sure who it was, but they said, "Do not look down on me because I am young." Or something like that. I haven't told anybody in my family this yet, and I don't know when I will. But I feel like when I'm older, he might want me to go to Africa.

Anyway, I'm going to try to get closer to God this summer. Hopefully I will grow a new relationship with him that will be amazing.

SO!

I'm starting a new thing on my blog where I will take your prayer requests! If you want to comment or message me, and tell me your pray requests, I'd love to pray for you! Let me know if you want it to be kept private, or if I could post it on here so that others could also pray for you. I think that would be fun! No matter what it is, I'd love to pray for you.

Well I have to go now!

God Bless and have fun on the 4th! WOot!

Forgiveness

Hey guys! I'm sorry that I haven't posted in so long. I'm just really lazy. Anyway, I'll try to keep up on posting. So today, I'm posting about Forgiveness!

So, we all do bad things right? We have to admit it, we're not perfect. Nobody is. God is. Why is it so hard for us to forgive our friends, but some of the time, it's easier to forgive God? Say your closest friend spread a rumor about you. Would God do that? NO. That's probably why. God loves us SO amazingly much, that He would never hold a grudge. Sure everything you do is recorded in that book, but He still forgives, that is, if you ask for forgiveness. One thing that makes me a little upset though, is the Bible says that if you don't forgive others, God won't forgive you. Is that really true? If so, I don't think God could ever forgive me. There are things that people have done to me, I still haven't forgiven. So, when you are still mad at somebody, and you ask God to forgive you, will He? Anyway, it's probably easier for Him to forgive us, than for us to forgive others. He loves us like alot, and we don't love others as much as God loves us. Do we? I don't think so. So if we don't love somebody, that makes it harder. But even when you don't forgive others, God still loves you. Isn't that cool?

Anyway, what does forgiveness mean to you? What the "FOR" means, is this is basically FOR you, "GIVE" my gift to you. My gift, is that I'm not going to be mad at you, or hold a grudge. That's what it means to me. What does it mean to you?

Secular stuff

Hey Christ Lovers!

I've been thinking a lot lately about random things. Like... secular music. What's the point with it? I mean, people swear, they sing innapropriate lyrics. Why do they? Do they think it makes them look cool? Well, what's so cool about it? Swearing: When you swear, it only shows that you don't have a very big vocabulary. So when you swear, it doesn't make you look cool or smart. It only shows how stupid and un-smart you really are! Why would they think it makes them look cool? Like say, Ashley Tisdale. So many young kids have seen the High School Musical movies, and look up to her. Now look at her! She's too scared to swear in her music, so she replaces swear words with words that she still shouldn't say, but she doesn't think it's as bad. And look at the way she's dressing now? The more that kids see these things in the people that they look up to, the more they become it. So many famous people started out on Disney Channel, and turned into just a big mess. People such as Justin Timberlake, Britney Spears, Linsay Lohan. A couple of them have been caught drunk driving, been going into rehab, and so many other things! And these are people that kids look up to. Even though I'm a kid, I don't. I recently had an experiance with that. The Plain White T's was definately one of my favorite bands. THEN, I checked out their CD at the library and guess what? Swearing, and lots of, well... you know what I mean. I feel like they let me down. It's not right. Like that really popular song, "Our Time Now" that they do. The lyrics aren't innapropriate, but have you seen the video???? I don't know why these celebritys think that doing this kind of stuff makes them cool, when it actually doesn't. Like this thing with Will Smith. Apparently, he was swearing in his rap lyrics. His Grandma didn't like it, so she just told him that swearing doesn't make him look smart or cool. It only shows how unsmart he is. Ever since that, he hasn't sworn in any of his songs... at least that's what I heard. Anyway, I want to know what you think of the music industry. What do you think it's coming down to? And how will it effect young children and teens? I don't think it's going to be very pretty.

New Study-udy-udy!!!

Hard Times

Do you ever feel like you are hopeless and alone? Maybe your family and the place you live don't seem much like how awesome lives seem on TV.  Maybe you live in an unhappy home and you feel like God is so far away from you, and you feel like he can't hear you. Why does he seem so far away?  Psalm 42  tells how the writer felt when he was going through hard times.

Psalm 42:  As the deer pants for streams of water,
so my soul pants for you, O God.

2 My soul thirsts for God, for the living God.
When can I go and meet with God?

3 My tears have been my food
       day and night,
while men say to me all day long,
       "Where is your God?"

 4 These things I remember
as I pour out my soul:
how I used to go with the multitude,
leading the procession to the house of God,
with shouts of joy and thanksgiving
       among the festive throng.

5 Why are you downcast, O my soul?
       Why so disturbed within me?
       Put your hope in God,
for I will yet praise him,
       my Savior and

6 my God.
       My soul is downcast within me;
       therefore I will remember you
from the land of the Jordan,
the heights of Hermon—from Mount Mizar.

 7 Deep calls to deep
       in the roar of your waterfalls;
       all your waves and breakers
       have swept over me.

8 By day the LORD directs his love,
at night his song is with me—
a prayer to the God of my life.

9 I say to God my Rock,
       "Why have you forgotten me?
Why must I go about mourning,
       oppressed by the enemy?"

10 My bones suffer mortal agony
       as my foes taunt me,
saying to me all day long,
       "Where is your God?"

11 Why are you downcast, O my soul?
       Why so disturbed within me?
       Put your hope in God,
for I will yet praise him,
       my Savior and my God.

Notice how honest the writer is with God about how he feels (Psalm 42:9-10). Are you that honest with God? You don't have to pretend th him that things are okay, even when they aren't.

Read about it!

Read 1 kings 19:1-18. Elijah has had a long, hard day. He spent all day on mount carmel (1 kings 18:16-40). In the evening, he rebuilt the Lord's altar and offered sacrifice. Then he climbed to the top of the mountain. And finally he ran all the way to the city of Jezreel ahead of Ahab's chariot--in the rain. Sounds like an Iron-Man competition!

But now, wicked queen Jezebel says she will kill Elijah. So Elijah panics and runs for his life. He has gone through a lot and is tired out. Elijah says, "I have had enough" (1 Kings 19:4)

Then God steps in. Elijah thinks he is the only person left who worships the real God (1 Kings 19:14), but God tells him there are still 7,000 Godly people in Israel (1 Kings 19:18).

When you feel alone, sometimes you only think you're alone. Or maybe things seem bad because you are really tired, and you need a good sleep, like Elijah did.

Sometimes we ask for things that we aren't ready to recieve yet. There is a part in my Bible that I'm not so sure that I understand. It says that we will get everything we ask for, but later on in life. Not right when we want it. Does that mean we get everything thing that we want? Like do we get to be famous? Does Miley Cyrus REALLY become our best friend? God knows what is best for us. He knows us more then we know ourselves. He knows what is right for us, and He knows what isn't.
I know somebody who was going through a hard time with something. But they kept on praying about it continually and paitiently for 2 years. Eventually, God helped them out of it at the time that he knew was best. So if we are patient with God, he will eventually do what is best for us. Sometimes we pray for something, but God gives us something better.

And, sometimes we pray selfish prayers. Such as this one.

"Dear God....

I saw an awesome thing at the mall today, and I seriously want it. And you know that contest to win 100,000 thousand dollars? I want to win that too. If I do win, I'll buy a plasma screen TV, every game system in the world, and a whole new wardrobe all for myself! Man that would make my friends SOOO jealous. Well, God, have a great day! Oh, and please give me everything I ask for. AMEN!"

When, we should really be praying prayers like this:
"Dear God, I really want that thing that I saw at the mall today. So if it is your will, please bless me with it. And there is a contest to win 100,000 dollars too! I really need the extra money. If it's your will Lord, please give me these things, unless of course you have better for me.

AMEN!"

Even though a lot of us pray like prayer number 1, that doesn't mean God won't answer it. But if we pray like prayer number 2, Well, God will be more proud of us. Even though sometimes it is hard to say, "If it is your will," It does make sense. For example. God's will is what is best for all of us. So this way, we're not saying, "Give this to me now," We're saying, "If it is your will for me to have this, then your will be done." As it says in the Lord's Prayer. "Thy will be done on earth as it is in Heaven."

God knows everything. Though we may not know what will happen in the future, God will always do what's best.
