Jul. 27, 2005 - Hi from Iowa

Posted by nance53w

Hi Nancy - I saw your comment on my blog - Iowa Comeschooling at
www.homeschoolblogger.com/coloradohomeschoollighthouse
Yes - I was an Air Force wife and lived in Colorado Springs for about 3 years. I loved living there. Our rented home's living room looked out on Pikes Peak and I absolutely loved it. I couldn't grow anything in a garden was the only drawback to Colorado. And in looking at my garden, I almost wish nothing would grow here since it's overrun with weeds, LOL.

My oldest, now 32, and his brother, now 31, started school there and were in grades K and 1 when we moved back to Iowa. My third son was born in Colorado Springs about 6 months before moving. None of these boys were homeschooled, but I now have a 10 year old ds who has been homeschooled since K - not since birth as he did go to the school district's preschool and pre-K program before I quit work to homeschool.

I think I set my blog to now tell me when I have comments posted, but that was just in the last day or so, so I went looking to see if I had missed any and there were actually several comments. I'm so glad my blog is read by someone. And is helpful to some people as well.

It's nice to see there's a strong homeschool community in Colorado Springs. I was last there about 3 years ago on vacation and stopped at the Focus on the Family location. Colorado Springs has changed soooooooo much since I lived there up to 1980.
