My husband surprised us with a trip to YAHOO Pumpkin Farm yesterday afternoon. This was the first time for the whole family to visit a corn maze. We all had a blast.

Oct. 11, 2007 - The Fall Breeze is here!

I woke up this morning to let the dogs out, when I opened the door I was greeted by the crisp fall air. Don't you just love this time of year? I do!

Thursday, is not a typical school day for us. My husband is normally off every Thursday. He works in retail and often works Saturdays too. So we work on school in the morning. Then after lunch we spend the rest of the day as a family. What ever we don't get done we will finish up on Friday or Saturday morning. His job was one of the first reason why we started to home school. We knew that we would not be able to spend time as a family if we sent the kids to school. I also worked retail, so I do understand the crazy hours. It has only been the past 4 year that he has been blessed to work for such a wonderful company. The past 3 years he has been the general manager and has been able to take Sundays off. He is now entering the holiday season and we again are blessed with this company that he only has to work 6 days a week for 2 weeks in December. He also won a contest last month that he will be able to take the day after Thanksgiving and the day before Christmas off. This is a FIRST and a blessings. We will be able to go to Christmas Eve service as a family. I am doing the happy dance!  God is good!

I've got to go now and fix lunch! Have a great day!

Blessings,

Oct. 10, 2007 - It's Wednesday

Hump Day! I like Wednesday the best. because it is a day after Tuesday. You see, Tuesday we are going to classes @ 8 AM, home for lunch and then in the middle of the afternoon be head back out to piano. So it is a day of coming and going. Wednesday is a day of staying at home! We are more relaxed and we always get so much done. There is a great sense of accomplishment at the end of the day. My plan for the day is:

Bible: We are studying James and learning so much about ourselves.

History, Science and then each girl will go into their own studies. After I get done instructing each of them I am off the clean my home. It is been two week (we were done last week) and it needs some TLC.

Both of the dogs need a bath. Their names are: Pooh Bear (cocker spaniel) and Jessie (Jack Russell). Pooh Bear is 11 year old and Jessie is only 1. They often keep us giggling through out the day as they play together. Jessie, keeps  Pooh Bear feeling young.

I also want to spend some time today working on this blog.

Have a GREAT DAY with Our LORD,

Trina

This is Pooh Bear last year:

Oct. 9, 2007 - The Future?

My husband call tonight from work and he ask me what is it I want to do six months from now, a year from now? He is reading a book that has to do with not having regrets. I didn't have an answer for him.

I am at a place in my life where I feel like I am at blank where it comes to me. I am happy doing what I feel called by God to do. I am becoming a wife that honors my husband, someone who school the girls, someone who spends meaningful time as a family and the goals I do have are to do with the girls eduation. My thoughts are of providing them with their needs and also Lord willing their desires. Please don't get me wronge I do not want to induldge their every desire. I do want to be able to help mold them into young ladies who have a grounded sense of what God has called them to do. To know who they are and to have a passion to live. Other then that I could not answer his question.

All that I have said, has to do with my family and nothing of it has to do with just me. I am not saying that I am unselfish. At times I am very selfish (I am a only child!). I just don't have any personal goals for myself. Taking a good look at myself I see a woman who has let herself go. I am ashamed that I have let my weight get to where it is. I do need help with self disapline. If you are reading this, would you please say a prayer for me that I may become more discipline with my eating habits.

Oct. 7, 2007 - Curriculum
Posted in Curriculum

One thing that I enjoy reading in other blog's is what curriculum they use. I thought I would share:

I have used all A Beka up until this year. On Tuesday, I teach at a HS (homeschool) enrichment ministry www.timothyministry.org I have been teaching there for 5 years now. This is where my girls have been getting their Science and History from, along with other fun classes. One of the main reason we go to Timothy is the dance program they offer. Both girls have been dancing since they were 3. The dance ministry is called : For His Glory. It is a Christ centered program with out a major expense of local dance company. The girls are invited to join the Ministry Team at the age of 10. We have two more years to go. Scottlyn prays that when she is 10 she will be invited if it is God's will.

This year I made a leap and brought Science and History home. I have tried to do something that would go along with their classes at home, but nothing ever stick's. A good friend of mine introduce me to MFW. I fell in loved with it! Eurka, it is so simple and the girls are getting so much out of it. It a keeper!  The classical concept has always appealed to me. Most of all the girls enjoy the timeline's and note booking. This helps them but together what we are reading and get a better understanding. I am trying to put this in my sidebar? This blogging thing is going to be an adventure and an education
