I guess it's about time that I updated my blog! My second week of camp was so much fun. I enjoyed the first week, but the second week was definetly the best! I was working the 4th week of camp, and not many girls come during 3rd and 4th weeks. While during 2nd week there were 25 cabins, during 4th week there were only 11. I was in Cabin 8, and I had 11 and 12 year olds.
Here's a picture of the inside of our cabin:

My co-counselor's name was Morgan, and she's super-sweet. She's one of those perpetually happy, bouncy types.
Since I had older girls, I got/had to go on the campout on Tuesday night. It actually wasn't too bad, although I would prefer to just hike up, eat and have worship, and then come back down the same night. Thankfully I wasn't on a root or rock or anything to sleep, I just would have like to have a pillow. Our hobo stew was really good; I'm still not sure why we didn't win best-tasting. We did get first in fire! In case you're wondering, hobo stew is potatoes, carrots, onion, hamburger meat, ketchup, mustard, salt, and pepper mixed up and cooked in the coals of the campfire. Each cabin makes their own, and one of the staff members goes around and taste-tests them.
Here's a picture that Ashley took the first week of hobo stew in the making:

Throughout the week, the girls collect feathers for various things: answering questions in class, winning cabin inspection, having the best-tasting hobo stew, etc. At the end of the week, one cabin on the older side and one cabin on the younger side win honor cabin. Cabin 8 had been dubbed the "lucky cabin", because they had won honor cabin every week this summer. So Morgan and I (along with many other counselors!) kept telling each other and our girls that we were going to win honor cabin. The girls basically said, ok! and started collecting feathers! The girls take 5 classes a day, and there are 2 feather questions asked in each class. Our cabin got 13 feathers on the first day for classes! We won the talent show on Thursday night, too. Also, at Frontier Adventure on Wednesday, they collect "bucks" to count toward feathers by participating in the various activities. When Morgan turned our bucks in to be counted, the staff was blown away and told her that we had the most bucks ever to be turned in!
Here's a couple of pictures from Frontier Adventure that I managed to take before my camera battery died....Morgan and one of our girls riding the "bull".

I'd like to post more pictures of my girls, but since I don't have their permission the ones where you can't see their faces and various other pictures will have to do!
Well anyway, we did win honor cabin! We actually weren't sure for a while; we thought Cabin 11 would beat us. We were all excited when they called us, though!
Okay, here are a few last pictures. These are of the Indian drama. I posted a picture of the cast last time, but this time we had a front row seat so I was able to get some good pictures of the actual drama.

My girls the second week were a blessing to me, especially during devotional time. They listened well and were eager to discuss Biblical principles. On Thursday, especially, what started out as a short devotional turned into a long, open discussion about many different spiritual things. Whenever it was time to pray, usually most or all of them would pray, and their prayers were so sweet and sincere! I'm really glad that God told me to go back for a second week of camp.
Love,
Briana

I really enjoyed camp this year too, but I do every year. Probably just because I get to be around horses because it's a horse camp!
