• Friday, January 20, 2006 - SHARE and Tell: A "Mom Birthday"

WARNING!
PITY PARTY IN PROGRESS!
READ AT YOUR OWN RISK...

So, why do mothers/wives even have birthdays?  Seriously... I've been through enough them over the years to know not to get my hopes up and think that the day could be set aside to pamper mom... but still, every year I have this little bit of hope that it will be special.  I guess today is different than last year... my hubby was away on business last year for my birthday, and this morning I did wake up to him (right before I got up to make him breakfast), and I did receive a couple of dear homemade cards from my children (and then walked down in the basement to do a load of laundry... passing by the mess left from the card-making last night).  I also have already cleaned the bathroom, livingroom and hallway.  Hey... what am I complaining about?  I mean, inbetween the one year old's crying jags (he's terribly sick), I've been getting a lot of cleaning done!

Happy Birthday to me!  a;lskdfjsa;dlkfj;aslkdjfasdlkjf

SHARE and Tell:
  • Share a "mom birthday" story for us to laugh together (no sad ones please... I want to have a good chuckle... a;sldkjf;asldkfj)
  • Then, in "honor" of this day... go clean your toilet, or someone else's for that matter, and make them feel special.
I'm off to scrub my kitchen floor!

Blessings,
Amy

(A more serious post to come later in the day... seriously...)

Sretan Rodendan! (As they might say in Croatia! That first "d" sounds like a soft "g".)
I'm sorry it's not been a good day. Drink a cup of hot chocolate!
Love,

Happy Birthday Amy!!!

I'm sorry for your b-day but did you know that today is NOT really your birthday? It is actually a few days from now when your hubby gets home...so get off your pitiful rocker and adjust your calendar dates accordingly!!! Or better yet, celebrate your b-day by taking the kiddos out for ice cream (even the poor sick one-- ice cream makes EVERYBODY happy!).

Love ya,
Marsha

Oh, happy birthday, Amy! From a fellow homeschooler. I am Diana; I have been homeschooling since 1992. I am mom to a 19 yod, a 16 yod, and a 6 yos. I have been married 26 years. I wish I could come up with a great birthday story for you, but that would require more thinking than I have time for right now, so I am off to take my 16 year old to a job.

When I get back, I need to go clean a toilet (or three) in your honor, but I need to fit that in between picking up the living room/dining room, starting a load of laundry, and getting JD's homeschooling done!

Blessings,

Diana :)

I'm sorry you're having a crudy day. maybe your hubby and the kids are just pretending they don't realize it's your birthday and maybe your hubby has something really special planned for you when he gets back - yeah that's it!
Hopefully the day will get better!

Happy Birthday Amy - God bless you beyond your wildest dreams and imaginations in this new year of your life. May you walk every closer with Him day by day and hour by hour. I know how you feel - I have been there, but last time round the Holy Spirit gently reminded me not to set unrealistic expectations of my family, and instead, what could I do on my special day to bless them, to give to them...may He do a wonderful work in you today - praying for you today on your special day! Thanks for being a blessing to me.

•Friday, January 20, 2006 - Well, I could tell you the story of my 50th birthday,

Posted by iluvtheland
but just the mention of someone that age should make you laugh and smile, as well as being thankful that you are still YOUNG, without hearing the story. For some reason, knowing that their mom is now over 50 sure makes my kids laugh.... And my sister and brother.... And even my dad, until I remind him to add 30 years onto whatever age I am and he'll find out his own age. That sobers him up real fast! LOL
My kids always made my favorite kind of cake each year for my b-day, German Chocolate. The only problem was, my favorite has been, and always will be, spice cake with cream cheese icing. I never told them until they were adults that they had somehow been misinformed.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!! And thanks for all the great encouragement you give me, and great ideas you come up with to help us all. You are a blessing, and deserve a special day.
Off to clean my toilet as I sing Happy Birthday Dear Dandelion,
Kathy

My dear mother gave herself parties! I learned from the best....

Sing your own special song.....

Ya...I'll bet you're even too young to catch that tune!

How about this one....

Celebrate, good times, come on!

I am a birthday person. I start counting down about 6mts before my day and they still never get it right. That's ok I know they all love me though. I am always a little dissappointed about my day and about 2 yrs ago I thought "do I really want to spend every birthday feeling sorry for myself?" So I made reservations for my honey and me at a restaurant, I had wanted to go to, and called a babysitter. I loved it, and it kind of made my honey rise to the occasion. So from now on I ask my honey if we can go out on my day or around it and then I make the plans.
Anyway wish I could come over and help clean your house. Happy Birthday my friend.
Blessings,
Andrea

Your comment on my last blog entry was such a pick-me-up. It is difficult for me to believe that what I write could possibly minister to someone else, or be considered "good writing." Especially someone like you. I am too lazy to post on my own blog consistently, let alone comment on others, but whenever I stop by Dandelion Seeds, God often speaks to me through what you've written. I read your recent post concerning something you wrote that greatly offended another blogger, and I want to say that I loved your response. You were tactful and didn't name names, and you were also very kind and calm. None of us wants to be in that position, but you really handled it well and brought it back to Christ. Thanks for your obedience, and for your awesome blogging ministry. It has been great to see how God is using you to bless others, including me! :-)

This is so embarassing. My mom used to make a big deal about my birthday too, so when she passed away a week after my first child was born (I promise this won't be sad) my birthdays were really empty and disappointing for a few years. One year (birthdays and PMS can be a very dangerous combination!) I felt so sorry for myself that I sat on my mom's gravesite for hours!!!! My husband was so mad at me that he picked me up and took me to my favorite restaurant followed by a moonlight walk on the beach. See why I married him? I have made a point since that low point to treat myself to something that makes me feel good (even if it's just a new candle to burn and a great movie to pop in the dvd player) and lighten up! God really has impressed it upon my heart since then to focus on my blessings and that helps immensely. HAPPY BIRTHDAY! ;D
