• Friday, March 3, 2006 - A Friend Lost at HSB... Please Pray

In the midst of all the choas and trials in my life right now, the Lord has reminded me that life is so fragile... and how blessed I am at this very moment.  I just found out that Missey, a fellow Homeschoolblogger, passed away during a C-section, leaving a husband, 4 children and their new baby girl.

I cannot imagine the grief this family must be experiencing right now, as I sit here seven months pregnant listening to the on-going chatter and laughter of my own precious gifts.  I completely broke down when I read this:

Yesterday Missey went in to get her stress test that she's been getting every 2 weeks.  The test showed that Missey was loosing amniotic fluid and that she had lost enough of it for  it to be alarming. That's when they decided to go ahead and take the baby.

After they lifted the baby from her body, some of the amniotic fluid got into her blood stream and caused a blood clot, which is what caused her death. She never came out of surgery. Her mil said that this only Happens 1 in 200,000.

She said that the girls are holding up OK. She said that they all slept, no clung, together in their bed last night. The oldest got up at one point and asked if little Nathan could also sleep with them, so they moved him into the bed with the 3 girls. She said that Tom is just in a daze. He has gone to the hospital this morning to be able to feed the baby.

Tom and Missey had chosen a name for the baby, but after Missey passed on they decided to name the baby Melissa Kate.

I couldn't help but break down when I went to Missey's blog and read some of her previous posts since joining HSB:
There has been a fund setup for the family (she had no insurance) and an address to send cards and notes of encouragement to as well (if you have children, this might be a wonderful opportunity for them to encourage these children).  All this information is found on a wonderful tribute HSB set up.  Pattycake has also posted Missey's obituary on her blog, as well as the song, I Can Only Imagine... reminding us that she is with our Father in Heaven.

Please keep Missey's husband, children and newborn (as well as family and friends) in your prayers for strength and peace.

In Him,
Amy

Amy,
I too, cannot believe that Missey is gone~I am on the BasicallyBeechick group and although I am new there, I have been to Missey's blog many times...she posted the very day she passed away..I read your requests to pray for Candace and Emily on my blog and need to update my blog soon, too..I have prayed for both of them and will continue to do so and am lifting up Missey's family in prayer.
What a legacy she leaves behind..I pray her children will know how much she loved them and that memories of her will carry them through..So sweet that her baby girl is named after her..
Praying,
Lynne

Dear Amy, I just hopped over here to ask if you guys know if your baby is a boy or girl yet. Then I read this post. How utterly tragical! I'm so sad for that family. I'll be checking back for the address. Thank you for keeping us up to date.

Love,
Drewe Llyn
(P.S. I said a prayer for your financial situation today.)

Dear Amy,

i am so sorry to hear that Missey is gone. Praying with you for her, her family, and all those who miss her.

Lord, only You know the reason little Melissa has no mama
To cuddle and hold her close
Only You know why the four sweet ones at home are all alone
and how a man is walking about in a daze
because You called Missey home
too soon for them, too soon for all who knew her,
who miss her,
who wish Your book of life had extended years
for a friend so dear.
So in the midst of their deep deep sorrow,
Lord, show us tomorrow.
Rain Your love into our broken hearts,
The cleansing river of Your great love,
Sweep us away with You,
for a glimpse of a better time hereafter,
That we may have the strength to go on,
To live for the sake of the children,
To live for the sake of the father,
To live because we believe in Your ultimate goodness
To live because we trust in Your higher plans.
O Lord, fill our shattered minds with Your peace and Your comfort,
That we may weep and stop, weep and gather our loved ones,
Cherish those we have left with us,
Lest one day we realize too late,
There is no more time to love,
Because our times are all in Your hands.
O Lord, walk with us through the valley of the shadow of death,
Watch over Missey's family dear Lord
May Your peace be with us all.
Thank You Lord.
In Jesus' Name, Amen

Blessings from

My heart is hurting for this family. Only the LORD can heal such sorrow, only He can uphold them, only He can provide a place for her in His Kingdom. I pray that the family will turn to Him in and He will heal them. Thanks for the update.

•Friday, March 3, 2006 - December Retreat

Posted by Pattycake
I wanted to thank you for bringing her "December Retreat" post to my attention. What a blessing that she was able to take that whole month to just enjoy her family. Maybe we should all just take a day -- or a week -- or a month -- and JUST ENJOY OUR FAMILIES.

I couldn't make it through the entire December Retreat post. I'm so glad her children had that time for some extra memories of their wonderful mother. I'm glad you linked to the post, though. What a reminder...we don't know when our time on this earth will end...we need to make those warm, loving family memories while we can.

I am at a loss for words... only to be reminded that Missey is now with the Lord... shedding not a tear... but rejoicing for eternity!!!!!!!

My thoughts and prayers will be with Tom and his family. Praying God will bring them all the comfort and peace only He can bring.

It is my prayer that Tom will reach out and turn to family and friends during this time.

This is a new chapter for all... Missey... Tom and the children. Each experiencing something new... unfamiliar... and unexpected. Through this loss "Joy"...
"Goodness"... "Love"... "Compassion"... God's Awesome Blessings
will come forth... Thank You Jesus †

Thank you Amy for begin there for the families... sharing these families with us. I pray we will all come together for one another... lifting up those around us in prayer. Being the voice for those that need Brothers and Sisters In Christ... in agreement for their families.

Wishing you a "Beautifully Blessed" weekend...
