May. 19, 2005 - Time

The first thing you should know about life in the "empty nest" is that you still have NO TIME! Today is one of those days, and as much as I want to begin my journal, I don't have time to do it justice.

Today, I am frantically preparing a workshop that I am doing on Oklahoma History here in Tulsa, OK., working on finishing my Oklahoma History Online curriculum, finishing up calls I have to make for OCHEC, and packing to leave on Saturday for my husband's 40th high school reunion in Delaware.

While I'm on the East coast, I'll be picking up a car from my mom's estate to bring back to Oklahoma. Before I leave, I'll run up to New Jersey to visit my Aunt and cousins, then head out thru Maryland so I can eat at the Fisherman's Inn. (I haven't had good seafood since the last time I was home!)

After we get back to Broken Arrow, I'll be babysitting my six-year-old granddaughter two days a week for the summer. I'm looking forward to this as I'm going to try out some art projects from Visual Manna and science projects from Real Science 4 Kids. My chance to homeschool again! Believe it or not, you will miss it. At least with grandchildren, you can play at it and only do the fun stuff! (Unless, of course, you are like the ladies who came to me for consultation yesterday where the grandmother actually does the homeschooling!)

So I must keep this short today, as I have a lot to do. Being a "high-tech" grammy, I WILL be taking my wireless, blue-tooth computer with me on this trip, so I'll keep in touch. I'm looking forward to sharing more about life in the "empty nest."
