A Peculiar People

Jul. 11, 2008 - Junior Camp Family Night

Posted in July 2008

We went up to meet the girls for Junior Camp Family Night on Wednesday.  One of the families from church hosted the evening at their home.

The girls are having a blast!  We asked if they wanted to come home with us and were answered with a resounding "NO!".  They already told us that they can't wait until next year.  Hannah informed us that we will have to make any future vacation plans around the camp dates for next summer because she doesn't want to miss it.  I'm so glad that they're having a good time.

They told us that earlier in the day they had toured a dairy farm that is across from the camp.   They saw 2 two-headed calves-of course, they weren't alive anymore, but still--how cool is that!  Ever the curious home-school student, Jackie wanted to know, "If they had lived, and had 2 brains, which head would have controlled the cow?".  Two of her leaders were wowed by this question and left it for the Biochemist father to answer.  I think this made quite the impression.

We enjoyed a delicious dinner and dessert.

We watched the kids have a Bible drill on 1 John 3.

Then the kids sang the songs they've been working on this week and we had chapel service.

I'm sure the girls will come home having grown in their faith after spending a week under such Godly counsel.  It's amazing, no matter how much time you spend teaching and talking to your kids-they seem to get some messages better from others.  I'm thankful we have such awesome youth leaders in our church.  People who are willing to give so much of themselves to help these young kids grow into the kids God plans for them to be.  This week was a blessing to the girls-Thank you.
