~Our Children on Homeschoolblogger~
One of the primary reasons I began blogging was to have fellowship with other homeschoolers. When we first began homeschooling four years ago, we didn't have any close homeschooling friends. As I blogged and made friends, my oldest daughter wanted to join as well. I've always felt safe within the community of HSB. I like the safety features that are in place and the ability to monitor closely my daughter's blog. I've also been very appreciative of Jennifer's honesty in her blog. I've been able to trust that she is being a Christan young lady.
Over the last year, I've been disappointed in the level of blogging done by a lot of the children in the HSB community. I am not one to judge or criticize others, but there is a point where I think parents need to wise up about their children's behavior. I hate directly confronting parents, as I would, they will become defensive. So, I am going to post this and hope that their parents will see it.
If your child especially has a chat box and/or regularly participates in chatbox conversations, you perhaps might want to monitor their discussions. Also, if possible you might want to occasionally see what kind of comments your child is leaving on other blogs. Would this be a comment you would like left on your blog?
Please know that I am not saying that I or my daughter are the perfect Christian bloggers.
I make take a hit on this entry, especially in the form of anonymous comments. But I've felt the need for a while, my husband and I feel this is the best way.
In Him,
Linda

Dear Linda,
PLEASE let me know ASAP if my children are in anyway involved in the hurt you and Jennifer have experienced. I will deal with it swiftly!

I hate to hear that, but I know you are right. My daughters have come across some child wachos on "howrse" and we've been getting a real education about modern day behavior - not just in this country but across the globe. And homeschoolers aren't immune. My other blog is www.homeschoolblogger.com/smw - my kids blogs are listed as friends - just let me know if they are bad. That's how it ought to be - don't worry about my toes. They help me keep 'em curled...:-)

Hi Linda-thanks for your note-I am blessed by your friendship! I have also been a little taken aback by some of the comments I've seen written by homeschooled kids.

Even the adults here have discovered not ever conversation is one we need to be a part of and not every homescholer is a relationship we need to cultivate. I applaud you for what you have said and done here. These are words but the same is true about the HS children they play with, I was fooled that HS meant morale and that my son needed a social relationship with the HS family that lived down the block. It was a very bad decision with many consequences. So I applaud you for parenting your child!
