Our favorite things...at the moment.

Emily:  Enjoys reading (anything she can get her hands on), playing the piano, guitar and strum stick, spending time with her cat, Libby, and our two dogs, Cessna and Cheyenne.  A new found enjoyment is computer design (photo programs, blog pages, etc.).  She could stay on the computer all day if allowed. 

Bethany-Anne:  Favorite thing to do is play outside.  Also enjoys playing board and card games with family and friends.  She can have fun doing just about anything.  She enjoys playing the piano and guitar. 

Elijah:  He wants a brother, but is beginning to be more comfortable with being the only boy living with three sisters.  He spends time during the day doing things with his sisters, but at night it's HIS time.  After everyone goes to bed, he is in his room, flipping around doing all sorts of "karate" chopping, kicking, etc.  Or, builds with legos, or plays with his G.I. Joe.  He loves to play with toy guns and swords.  He also enjoys reading and playing the piano. 

Jenalee:  Loves anything to do with dress-up/princess type things.  She loves her sisters and brother very much and enjoys spending time with them, no matter what they're doing.  She thinks she can't sleep without having at least one of them with her.  Just began piano lessons with mommy and Emily teaching her.    

We're back into the swing of things.   Half through the school year.  We're pretty much on target with our school goals.  Emily is in the 8th grade, but is taking 9th grade math, Algebra I.  Whew, that's been tough.  She'll be working on it during the summer I'm sure.  She's doing really well with all of her other courses.  She is taking a science co-op lab course with other homeschoolers in our area.  It meets once a month, and is taught by an RN.  She has studied bacteria, disection of various specimens, microscope exploration, and other things I can't remember at the moment. Science and history are her favorite subjects.  Bethany-Anne is in the 4th grade this year.  She just completed her history course, and wants to go right into the 5th grade history.  Her favorite subjects are science and language arts.  Elijah is in the 2nd grade.  He is doing so well with school.  He usually gets up early in the morning and starts his work.  Then he can have the rest of the day to do what ever he wants.  His favorite subjects are math, history, and science, but he also enjoys reading.   Jenalee is in Kindergarten this year.  However, she finished her K5 work in December, and has begun her 1st grade materials.  We're taking it slow, we only do what she feels like doing each day.  I want her to enjoy learning, not dread it.  She enjoys reading, but her favorite subjects are math and science, and of course art. 

Today I decorated two cakes while also teaching Bethany-Anne and Elijah; Emily helped Jenalee with her school.  Days like this are very hectic.  Thankfully they are few and far between.  Check out the cake pictures on our blog slide show.
