The WHO office of Western Washington sent the following message as a reminder. Remember to declare your intention to homeschool by filing your Declaration of Intent (DOI) form this fall! Declaring is an obligation of parents under the Home-based Instruction law. The DOI is to be filed with your local superintendent by Remember, only include children ages 8 and older, and only include their name, age (not date of birth), and mark the one box only if you've chosen to qualify to homeschool by working with a certificated person to supervise your studies. That's all that's required by law! Parents often make our office aware when their school district's DOI is out of compliance with the law. Some districts ask or insist for more information than required in statute. Check out our sample of the correct DOI form and our Declaration of Intent Education Packet. We suggest that you make a photocopy of your completed DOI for times when you need it to demonstrate your status as homeschoolers (for instance, to get free Puyallup Fair tickets). |
