Let Me Introduce Our Next Lamplighter Read: The Hedge of Thorns

Posted in The Hedge of Thorns by John Hatchard

The Hedge of Thorns is a true story from the 1600's, originally started by John Carroll and completed by John Hatchard. Young John could only think of his own pleasures and was wiling to do anything, even sacrifice his own dear sister, to get what he wanted. He failed to see that the hedges placed in his life were to guide and protect him. A tragic fate awaits those who try to push through those spiritual hedges of protection, but a blessing is sure for those who keep within their boundaries.

From the Original Preface:

"This little work was first published in England, and appears to be the production of a pious writer from the eighteenth century, as a relation of facts. The young man who recorded the text died before completion of his testimony. Upon finding this remarkable record, the editor appears to have had first-hand knowledge of the events surrounding this unique story."

We will be exploring character themes such as forgiveness, obedience, boundaries, and self-control.  Be sure to get your copy of this little treasure and sign the roll and join us!

Blessings!

to start this discussion! I will have a date for you soon. I do want to make sure that everyone gets their books. Let's give a little more time for word to get around!! I will be putting the icons on the sidebar, too, so if you have a blog you can grab one and spread the word about this great little treasure!

Besides the date, are there any other questions? Any ideas or thoughts you may want me to know as we get going?
blessings!
