I've found some fabulous blogs recently- lots of free books and unit studies are out there in blog-land. But I don't usually put those on the links page. I may have to create a new category! Homeschooling Series by Charlotte M. Mason
Both the original version and one written in modern English can be downloaded free from this website or a printed version may be purchased. In addition, summaries of the various Charlotte Mason writings are presented on the site.
Arts Edge
Arts Edge, the National Arts and Education Network, seeks to place the arts into the curriculum and advocates the creative use of technology in the classroom. On the website you’ll find tools for creating interdisciplinary curricula for integration of the arts into all your studies, plus over 400 ready-to-use lesson plans. Students can study how to develop a character for a play or learn the notes of the treble clef staff. Additional lesson include acoustical science, Chinese calligraphy, world explorers, lightening, cicadas and more.
Yale National Initiative Curricular Resources
The purpose of the Yale National Initiative is “to strengthen teaching in public schools.” On the organization’s website you can access resources from teacher institute seminars and curriculum units developed by the teacher’s institutes. The topics of these units range from Aerodynamics to Women Writers in Latin America, with plenty in between.

Sermons4Kids
Find regularly updated sermons and accompanying printables created by the hosts of this non-profit website. In addition, the site provides links to other great resources for Christian children. As an added benefit, you can sign to receive the Sermon of the Week via e-mail each week. Materials are also available in Spanish. AVKO Educational Research Foundation
The stated purpose of this organization created in 1974 is to create a system to help educators to teach poor readers and spellers. The organization has now achieved its goal and is in the process of seeking a publisher for the finished work. From the AVKO website you can purchase the Sequential Spelling curriculum, access free resources and view a list of other websites offering free resources or free sample lessons to assist you in teaching your child to read and spell. Included in the freebies is the opportunity to view a video of how this teaching method works. You will also be able to view some of the Sequential Spelling materials online, including a list for learning all 220 Dolche words created by Don McCabe, author of To Teach a Dyslexic.
