The Drama of Eating
I have added a few more foods to my list of allergens. Every day it seems lilke i add a new one. My husband has been very supportive of me and that has helped alot. We have decided on joining Medical Alert for their service since not all my food allergins can fit on one necklace or bracelet. I have been dealing with the fear of eating. I was going all day without eating until 4pm until I was just about passing out. So now I am seeing a therapist to deal with this valid fear. It has been a struggle daily. My Dad in his widom asked me about weight watchers (i am a bit .... ok I am very overweight) so I thought about it and told him I would try a meeting. So I went and instead of feeling like I have to eat all the time I can eat the point amount and not feel so stressed about eating. My Dad is a very smart man. It has been an easier three days and I have lost almost a pound. Now if i can just get all my points eaten. LOL

Defining my Allergies
It was a rather long journey figuring out what I was allergic to. It all started at the first of the year. I ate a tuna sandwitch and my face started swelling, eyes got puffy my lips started to puff and my tounge started to swell. (btw if this even happens to you go to the hosp don't do as I did) I took a benedryl and st with my epi pen next to me. I should have used the thing... Anyway, after that it seemed everythign I ate I had an allergic reaction. At first my husband and I thought it was just my body calming down after the intial reaction. However, that was not the case because it kept getting worse. So I finially called an allergist that my holistic friend refered me to. That was the worst week of my life. I couldn't take any allergy pills so I had to be very careful about what I ate. Chips and salsa that one day cause me to break out next time wouldn't. The allergist suggested I keep a food journal after making my appointment. So I did and I marked next to the ones I had a reaction to and I wrote down brand names as well.
At appointmet he drew 7 vials of blood for a RAST test on over 40 things. All of my tests came back negative that ment that I needed to a skin test. The Doctor told me to keep a different kind of food journal. If I reacted to it paste or tape the ingrediant list into the journal. SO I did... The result of the next test and my food journal is the list you see below.

What happened in the hospital because of my allergies!
I made the hospital photo copy my allergy card the first nurse did not want to. I got a liquid trey for dinner with three things that had my allergens in it. I was taken off liquids around lunch time and I asked to speak to the dietitian before lunch. The dietitian fixed my first meal her self and my husband brought me a cooler of food I could snack on. Thirty minutes before the dinner trays came down the hall I got a room mate. They brought me a liquid dinner tray. Again it had two of my food allergies on it. I told the food lady that I could have solids she asked my nurse who said yes I could have solids. Then nurse turns and with out a thought brings me a tray off the cart. I stopped her and said I can’t eat that I have to have a special diet. I said what I needed and the lady who delivered the trays said to give her 20min she would go fix me a salad because the kitchen was closed. Well I got up and used the potty and that is when it hit me. I walked past my room mate and my face swelled my eyes itched. I quick ran out of my room and stood hunched over in the hall. My nurse looked at me and didn't say a word. I politely told her that I as having a reaction to my room mates food tray. She said go back in and sit down I’ll call your doctor. I said no I can't go back in there. Can you help me? She shrugged and walked away. I started bawling. I was itchy all over by this point and my eyes where swollen and my neck I knew was red. I asked very loudly at her back. “Where is the Nurse Manager”? The nurse manager ran into the hall and took one look at me grabbed a chair and sat me down asked me what happened. She got me a cool rag and found me a private room. I can't help but think now if I had gone into anaphylaxis I would be dead. I would have died in the hospital after they saved my life.
The day I was released the lady from the cafeteria came into my room and asked me what I wanted for lunch. I know she took it upon herself to come and ask and I thanked her.

Whoa Wait a min!!!
Ok I have been away too long. Summer is over for many and neighbor kids have started school again YEAH we have the street back! Alot has happened to me over the few months that I have not been able to blog. I have been consantly sick with allergies. Not the once everyone else has been food allergies that first make my face turns red splotchy then my lips tounge and eyes swell, I get headache then nausea and shakes then hot and cold flashes. All this going on I get lucid and sleepy. Did you think Anaphylaxis? Well yout right! Now what pray tell am I allergic to? Well, pretty much everything people eat in a day. It took two trips to an allergist and we got a few things listed. Took me 3 months to acually go (dumb move on my part). I should have gone the first month of my problems. I am allergic to so much it won't all fit on my Medical Alert tag. It has been a big adjustment not being able to grab just anything to eat. I got to the point where I dreaded food or hated to eat or just didn't eat. I am still battling the not wanting to eat. I think it has been really hard on my kids. My oldest son is frightly sensitive to me and catches me almost in tears in the kitchen. I fix them food that I want to eat and can't. That is really really hard. Well, I will catch up more later right now its 2am and I am going to bed.

The top 10 large family commets that make me ....
question the human race.
1. Its bad for the inviroment. = Ok this statement is so funny to me. Our little army puts out less garbage then the family of 5 next door and the family of 4 on the other side of us. We wear clothes totally out. We recycle all that can be recycled.
2. Oh your oldest must be glad to go to school. = Well first off I homeschool. Second well she loves her siblings and third I don't require Her to raise them.
3. Ok, does your husband know anything about womens rights? = Ok we all know that it takes two to tango!
4. When do you have ME time? =This coment deserves no coment.
5. Better you then me. = I agree better me then you!
6. Are you going to have anymore? = Hum well ask God not me.
7. Are one of THOSE religous people? = What is that supposed to mean? Is there somthing wrong with God?
8. Are you babysitting? Do you run a daycare? = Um is it thier busines? (Oh no I picked up a few in the veggie isle and I have been taking care of them for a few years now).
9. What about all those extras kids need? = Hum extras I thought that extras where just that extra.
10. How do you feed them ALL? = Well , I cook for starters and not from a bag or box. And usually they use a spoon or a fork with out help.

Allergys
Have you ever thought about those teenagers who can't have Pizza? What about the ones who can't even be around pizza? What type of functions do they go to? How many pizza partys does a church have? How many pizza partys do kids have on a whole? Somtimes I want to grb people by the shoulders and shake them. Kiersten spent most of December, January and March in tears. She missed a number of partys, youth and church things because they had pizza. I don't want people to feel sorry for it just maybe have fried chicken or hotdogs and hamburgers. How hard can that be??? Oh well just a vent thanks for listening lol.

Finally an Updated Blog
From the ends of the earth I call to you, I call as my heart grows faint; lead me to the rock that is higher than I. Psalms 61 :2
This verse has spoken to me for the last three month as I have had hardships beyond what I feel that I can handle. When money has been tight God has always made sure we have what we need. He has been a rock in the troubles of my life. At times here of late I have felt far from God detached and drowning. I am trying t pull up and out of my muck. Some one once told me that if you are not being attacked by the devil then you are complacent in your walk with God and he (the devil) doesn't have to worry about you. Well, I must be doing somthing right as I am being attacked. I have a friend who is pulling me down away from God and I am working to correct that. So please pray for me and my family as I work to correct this friendship. If I confront the person they will only reverse what I say and make me feel stupid so I am going to work on doing this with different tactics. By changing the subject of conversation and being unavialable to her.
So Please Pray for me as I climb this mountian.

4 boots 2 horse shirts and Loretta Lyn
I went to Toys r Us yesterday with Kiersten and we found two pairs of black cowgirl boots with pink hearts for 5 dollars each and then we found two horse shirts with silver sparkly manes. So today I put on Loretta Lyns song boots are made for walking and my littles girls have had a very good time dancing and prancing around in their cowgirl duds. The only thing missing are cowgirl hats. I suppose I'll be looking for those soon. Boot scootin boogie party ! :)

Just Pickin
Well it has been a bit since I have blogged and a lot has happened in our life. Gene had been taking piano lessons and he got so uptight and wound so thin when he was supposed to practice or go to lessons that Nick and I decieded that he could try again in a year. So... I took his spot. Yup you heard me right I am taking lessons what kind you ask?? Banjo. I have ALWAYS wanted to learn how to play banjo. So my second lesson is Saturday. My banjo will be here tomarrow I was hoping today but nope I am on the edge of my seat. My first lesson I used Kierstens guitar and I have been practicing with that. My fingers are raw the tips anyway. I am so excited because my first lesson I acually understood. I consider my self some what of an old dog that can't learn new tricks. I caught on just fine and I was a bit surprised to say that least. I am hoping Kat got her musical gift from me so that the next lessons will be just as easy. Maybe one day I'll play dueling banjos for my grankids.

Shopping thoughts!
Ok as I have stated in my other entry I met a friend at the store last night. The first thing I noticed was the lack of people we missed the crowd yeah. We were really happy about that. We went to the toy section because my older son gave money for the younger son to get a nerf gun he wanted. All the nerf guns where gone. I bent over and wow there were two left. They where more importantly the one that he wanted to buy for his brother. On every isle the toys where busted gone or misplaced. Most of the isles where empty. I did notice there where a ton of BRAT dolls left. I was very excited about that. I dilikes those ugly materialistic dolls. For the most part I got all I needed except for the man arcoss the street and my friend Kirra. So I will have to go back out tonight. Never fails get all of my shopping done and guess what I forget somthing. Well I have sat here to long. I knew what I was going to type but the phone rang twice the kids got in two fights one is hungry and a drink spilled all over the floor. Kaos never ends in this humble house. God Bless you all and Merry CHRISTMAS!

Grace on Christmas Music
Grace will be 3 in Febuary and she loves music. Well I put in a very old music CD with Christmas songs on it. On was button up your over coat and baby its cold outside. I know not the best ones out there but she loves those two songs. She has been going singing
Button up your overcoat,
When the wind is free,
Take good care of yourself,
You belong to me!
Eat an apple every day,
Get to bed by three,
Oh, take good care of yourself,
You belong to me!
then adding Oh oh oh oh and dances around singing.
When we went out to the grocey store we were walking out in the parking lot and she sings out BABY ITS COLD OUTSIDE. An older man who had to have been a grandpa sang to her "ive got to go away". Grace in turn yelled its cold outside. Then man laughed and looked at me and said thank you and gave her a candy cane. So of course she sang any song she remembered in the store. Jesus loves you , Happy birthday Jesus and you belong to me. This Christmas has certainly been a very different one for us.

Christmas from the mouth Maggie
Maggie who will be turning four I meet a friend of mine every month last night I met her at a 24 hour Meijer. I got out of the house and my Maggie was really upset standing at the door. She had asked me every time I went out if she can go and mean mommy always said no. So last night as she stood at the window of the door I realised that I had forgotten my friends gift. So I parked the van back in the driveway and ran in and grabbed it. Maggie looked at me and stuck her lip out and then said Mommy I have my shoes on! I melted so I took her with me. I met my friend at Meijers and ordered Maggie a decafe peppermint mocha crushed coffee drink. I know but she loves Starbucks. So as where talking and shopping Maggie tells my friend that her Birthday is after HO HO day. She went to say that it was Jesus's Birthday too. She said Jesus was going to have a Princess Cake and she was going to have a Princess Cake. She said she wanted a Princess Dress. Earlier that day Maggie had gone upstairs and then ran down screaming because something scary was in her room. I told her that tell that scary thing that Jesus said go away. So she did and then declared it gone. So she told my friend that Jesus takes the scary things for his Birthday.

Ben Stein Comments About Christmas & Age
Herewith a few confessions from my beating heart: I have no freaking clue who Nick and Jessica are. I see them on the cover of People and Us constantly when I am buying my dog biscuits and kitty litter. I often ask the checkers at the grocery stores. They never know who Nick and Jessica are either. Who are they? Will it change my life if I know who they are and why they have broken up? Why are they so important?
I don't know who Lindsay Lohan is either, and I do not care at all about Tom Cruise's wife. Am I going to be called before a Senate committee and asked if I am a subversive? Maybe, but I just have no clue who Nick and Jessica are. If this i s what it means to be no longer young. It's not so bad.
Next confession: I am a Jew, and every single one of my ancestors was Jewish. And it does not bother me even a little bit when people call those beautiful lit up, bejeweled trees Christmas trees. I don't feel threatened. I don't feel discriminated against. That's what they are: Christmas trees. It doesn't bother me a bit when people say, "Merry Christmas" to me. I don't think they are slighting me or getting ready to put me in a ghetto. In fact, I kind of like it. It shows that we are all brothers and sisters celebrating this happy time of year. It doesn't bother me at all that there is a manger scene on display at a key intersection near my beach house in Malibu . If people want a creche, it's just as fine with me as is the Menorah a few hundred yards away. I don't like getting pushed around for being a Jew, and I don't think Christians like getting pus hed around for being Christians.
I think people who believe in God are sick and tired of getting pushed around, period. I have no idea where the concept came from that America is an explicitly atheist country. I can't find it in the Constitution, and I don't like it being shoved down my throat.Or maybe I can put it another way: where did the idea come from that we should worship Nick and Jessica and we aren't allowed to worship God as we understand Him? I guess that's a sign that I'm getting old, too.
But there are a lot of us who are wondering where Nick and Jessica came from and where the America we knew went to. In light of the many jokes we send to one another for a laugh, this is a little different: This is not intended to be a joke; it's not funny, it's intended to get you thinking. Billy Graham's daughter was interviewed on the Early Show and Jane C layson asked her "How could God let something like this Happen?" (regarding Katrina) Anne Graham gave an extremely profound and insightful response. She said, "I believe God is deeply saddened by this, just as we are, but for years we've been telling God to get out of our schools, to get out of our government and to get out of our lives. And being the gentleman He is, I believe He has calmly backed out. How can we expect God to give us His blessing and His protection if we demand He leave us alone?"
In light of recent events.terrorists attack, school shootings, etc. I think it started when Madeleine Murray O'Hare (she was murdered, her body found recently) complained she didn't want prayer in our schools, and we said OK. Then someone said you better not read the Bible in school .. the Bible says thou shalt not kill, thou shalt not steal, and love your neighbor as yourself. And we said OK. Then Dr. Benjamin Spock said we shouldn't spank our children when they misbehave because their little personalities would be warped and we might damage their self-esteem. We said an expert should know what he's talking about. And we said OK. Now we're asking ourselves why our children have no conscience, why they don't know right from wrong, and why it doesn't bother them to kill strangers, their classmates, and themselves.
Probably, if we think about it long and hard enough, we can figure it out. I think it has a great deal to do with "WE REAP WHAT WE SOW." Funny how simple it is for people to trash God and then wonder why the world's going to hell.
Funny how we believe what the newspapers say, but question what the Bible says. Funny how you can send 'jokes' through e-mail and they spread like wildfire but when you start sending messages regarding the Lord, people think twice about sharing. Funny how lewd, crude, vulgar and obscene articles pass freely through cyberspace, but public discussion of God is suppressed in the school and workplace. Are you laughing?
Funny how when you forward this message, you will not send it to many on your address list because you're not sure what they believe, or what they will think of you for sending it. Funny how we can be more worried about what other people think of us than what God thinks of us. Pass it on if you think it has merit. If not then just discard it... no one will know you did. But, if you discard this thought process, don't sit back and complain about what bad shape the world is in. My Best Regards .. honestly and respectfully,
Ben Stein
