Oct. 11, 2008 - Today

Josh had to be out of town today. We were all sad to see him gone on a Saturday. So fun was planned for the day after dealing with some tears this morning. :(

It was an absolutely beautiful fall day. Praise God.

We had a special lunch out at a noodle cafe. It was delicious and the boys lunch was free. On Saturdays children eat free and it was quite noisy. Jacob commented about that. I'm surprised he even noticed with him adding to the noise of the place!

Then we headed to the apple orchard. On the weekend, they had tractor rides around the farm. My boys are all about tractors.

Who can go to an apple orchard and not have a taste?

The boys were great helpers and thankfully none of us were stung by bees. They were thick.

Our bounty.

Next time, we all decided we needed some extra muscles to carry all the apples. A wagon would also work if a husband isn't available.

And we picked a pumpkin too. So we really did need the extra muscles. :) But we managed ok.

Good day. Fun memories. I love fall.

Oct. 8, 2008 - The Process

Ok, I just have to post a link to Rachel's blog as she writes about embracing the process. Rachel is our adoption coordinator.

Beautiful truth spoken into my weary heart.

I needed that today.

Oct. 8, 2008 - Hmmm...

I walked in to see Jacob in this position.

Hmmm...when I questioned him on what he was doing, his reply was "just sitting, Mom."

Obviously.

I think still being sick and stuck at home is making us all a little loopy.

We've got to be getting better one of these days.

Oct. 7, 2008 - Be encouraged today!

I read this on my homeschool support forum this morning. Be encouraged today if you are facing trials in your life.

"When "tribulation worketh patience; and patience, experience; and experience, hope," the Lord is honored by these growing virtues. We should never know the music of the harp if the strings were left untouched; nor enjoy the juice of the grape if it were not trodden in the winepress; nor discover the sweet perfume of cinnamon if it were not pressed and beaten; nor feel the warmth of fire if the coals were not utterly consumed. The wisdom and power of the great Workman are discovered by the trials through which His vessels of mercy are permitted to pass. Present afflictions tend also to heighten future joy. There must be shades in the picture to bring out the beauty of the lights. Could we be so supremely blessed in heaven, if we had not known the curse of sin and the sorrow of earth? Will not peace be sweeter after conflict, and rest more welcome after toil? Will not the recollection of past sufferings enhance the bliss of the glorified?" The Lord will perfect that which concerneth me! Psalm 138:8
