One of the most precious traditions we have
is "Daddy's Blessing". We began this just a few years ago.
It is always such a tender time as our children each wait their turn to
be blessed by their father. I have the privilege of watching this
and usually shed tears during the blessings.
Our favorite time of the year to do it is around Christmas time.. but
we have done it during other times. It is a special time for our
family so we have chosen to have it only once a year.
How we began... I found the "Daddy's Blessing" kit at a Christian
bookstore.. and just fell in love with the idea. It came with a
neat book that told the story of a man and his father's
blessings. There is a candle that also came with it.. in the
pictures below you can see it sitting next to the fireplace and
lit.
This is a tradition that we will continue and hopefully pass on to our
children. It is important for the children to hear their father
give his blessing and pray over them in this unique way. It is
also important for a father to take this time and realize how special
each one of his children is.
The pictures below were taken during Jeremiah's very first blessing..
so it was even an extra special time for us! All of the kids were
excited for him and it was neat to see them smiling as Daddy blessed
our newest little blessing... precious memories... how they linger...
how they ever flood my soul.
