Matt was home from school yet again today (way I like it) and he drew me this picture of our cat Pumpkin, who was sitting on the sofa watching him. She is very leary of him.

For this weeks picture study, Chantelle will be looking at "The Boating Party" by Mary Cassatt.

Like last week, at the end of this week, I will have Chantelle colot a picture from the Dover coloring book, that looks like this painting.

Last week, Chantelle was studying Mary Cassatt's picture "Young Mother Sewing". At the end of the week, I had her color a picture from a "Color your own Mary Cassatt" by Dover picture to make it look like the painting. Here is Chantelle's picture:

There is color to the woman and child, but it is so light, that you can't see it here. The dresses also have color, but again you can't really see it here.

For the first term of the school year we are going to be studying Mary Cassatt. For this week the painting we are looking at is:

A Young Mother Sewing - 1902 - oil on canvas

Every day, Chantelle will be studying the picture, noting any details. At the end ofthe week, I take the picture away and have her describe the picture to me without looking at it. Then I will return it to her and have her color a picture from our Mary Cassatt coloring book from Dover Publications that goes with the weeks picture.
