Apr. 7, 2008 - Dawn Treader

Part of the interview with Michael Flaherty. Pretty interesting. :D Information from ( http://narniaweb.com/news.asp?id=1569&dl=16764765 ) For any of you that don't know what Dawn Treader is it is another book that C.S. Lewis wrote.  :)

Michael Flaherty Talks Narnia, Dawn Treader

Walden Media marketed the Narnia movies to churches. What were the specific ethical guidelines in line when you did that?

We always go after the core audience. With Narnia, there are several core audiences: the Sci-Fi audience, the fantasy audience, the literary audience. But there is also the faith audience. We thought we should make people aware that this film based on this great book is coming out. We were very careful. Even though our expertise is in educational curriculum, it's not in developing faith curriculum. We decided faith leaders, pastors, and parents, if they wanted to teach the faith aspect, could create their own materials. We let church people know the film was coming out. We made clips available. Beyond that, in terms of how to use that or teach, we let people come up with their own ideas.

Can you give any news about when Screwtape or Dawn Treader will come out?

The first time I spoke with you, I had just received the first draft of Dawn Treader. Literally as we were speaking it was there on my desk. I hadn't even opened it up yet. I couldn't wait to read it, though, because Eustace is one of my favorite characters.

Dawn Treader is moving very well. Michael Apted, who directed Amazing Grace, is directing it. He also directed Coal Miner's Daughter and a bunch of others. He's a great director. He's the president of the Directors Guild.

Screwtape on the other hand is just a really tricky adaptation.

Peter Now and then. I'd say that he has been the one that has changed the least. He has grown a bit and his shoulder width has gotten bigger since he is turning into a young man.

The Lion the witch and the Wardrobe

He look's small in that pic. :)

And Now, :)

Let's not forget what he looked like. Well that was the last Now and Then Character. :( If you have any ideas for other info and such you want to know please let me know.

Mar. 27, 2008 - Narnia Q's and A's

Here are a few answers to questions that you probibly want to know. :) The questions and answers are from ( http://www.NarniaWeb.com ) and the pictures from ( http://www.spareoom.net )

Q: What will this movie be rated?

A: Walden Media has stated many times that their goal is to make films that the whole family can go to the theater and enjoy, and one of the ways they do that is by making only G- and PG-rated films. Also during recent interviews, crew members mentioned they are working toward getting a PG rating.

Q: How long will this movie be?

A: At this time we don't know for sure, but the El Capitan Theatre website says 160 minutes (2 hours and 40 minutes). This is likely an approximation, but the final running time will probably be right around that.

Q: How much money did it cost to make this movie?

A: It hasn't been confirmed yet, but the general estimate is around $200 million.

Q: Was Prince Caspian filmed in New Zealand like the first film?

A: The production shot in New Zealand for 5 – 6 weeks, filmed a few scenes in Poland, and finished in the Czech Republic. Post-production is currently taking place in England.

Q: Why aren’t they doing The Horse and His Boy? Isn’t that the next book in the series?

A: When Harper Collins took over the publishing, they re-ordered the series chronologically, placing The Horse and His Boy as the third book in the series, directly after The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe. But The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe was actually the first book to be published. According to Douglas Gresham, they are making the films in "the most logically consistent order for filming."

Q: Will all Narnia Books be made into movies eventually?

A: The Voyage of the Dawn Treader is scheduled for release on May 7, 2010. The Silver Chair has not been officially greenlit yet, but the filmmakers intend to make that film next, and hope to eventually produce all seven.
