The Dixon Blogoversary Party
Monday, March 17, 2008

The image “http://aponderingheart.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2008/03/blog-2.PNG” cannot be displayed, because it contains errors.

This week I celebrate my 2nd Blogoversary. The girls and I all celebrate 2 years of blogging this week!  Amanda, Jocelyn, and Rachel celebrate theirs too! I cannot believe I’ve been blogging for two years. I don't know if it seems like a short time I have blogged or a REALL-LLLLY long time, but I have loved meeting great friends and learning so many things.

We have been so blessed to have been given the opportunity to meet many bloggers. Some of my very best friends are ones I have never even met, surprisingly enough!  We are looking forward to meeting many more. As a matter of fact, when we travel down to Texas and New Mexico, I hope to meet several of you! :)

Seeking Rest in the Ancient Paths Homeschool blog

Blogging To Learn

Blogging in the Dixon household takes on a new meaning, because we don't just use it to share our lives, but our girls got their blogs for very specific reasons to use in their learning, and boy has it been quite the learning! It has opened up doors for writing opportunities for all of us, business opportunities and, of course, relating to different people from different walks of life is (or should be) a humbling and maturing experience.

xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

EVERYONE is invited!!!

So, welcome to the party, and we are happy to have some really cool door prizes for you to win!

Door Prizes:

All four of us will be giving away a TOS Magazine subscription along with some other prizes.

Did you get that? 4 subscriptions to The Old Schoolhouse Magazine! When Jocelyn held her Family Photo Contest, I read of several of my friends who really wanted a subscription. I would really like to give you one!
And, you can even choose the hard copy or the digital now!

5. Party!

xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Jocelyn said this, and I cannot say it any better: "This is going to be fun. Can’t wait to celebrate with y’all! I want to thank all my blog friends who have remained faithful readers and commenters of my… interest… life and articles. I truly treasure your friendships!"

blessings!

We each have our own icons linked to our blogs, so grab whichever icon you want to.

They are all pretty neat-o; I have such talented girls!! :) And boys!

Tuesday, March 18, 2008 - Blogging *has* been awesome for all of us~

Posted by JacqueDixonSoulRestES

We have grown together and learned so much about each other. We have faced things together, learned html together, worked on blogs and projects together, and edited, edited, edited together!! :))
"Letting your child get a blog" is not the same as blogging with your children. I think that has been the difference. We blog together. I know their friends, and they know mine. We read each others' blogs and comments and talk about friends and happenings. It is a family affair. :)

Jessica~ I am glad you are enjoying my blog. :) And I liked your comment on Rachel's blog, that she looks like me. It's funny the different stages children go theough that they resemble their parents or siblings! It is a true compliment to me that she and I look alike! Thank you!

SisterLisa... Yes, you can use it towards her HOWTA. I highly recommend it! I LOVE it! It is a lot of a little book. Did you know she has some of it available online to download for free? Like 70 pp or something?
I think I had to re-read parts of her book about three times before I got it. That is not to say anything about her book; it is wonderful! I had to re-shape my thinking and get out of my way of thinking as far as teaching. I think someone who has young children or has not homeschooled long won't have that issue at all. I love it; it has so much info in it!

Blessings~

Haha, I didn't see that poem until just now when I checked my email. I guess Paul just doesn't listen. :P

I like this part:

We hope you have fun
with your LAN pc games.
Be sure to pick a good partner
so you aren't put to shame.

Paul made sure that didn't happen. He teamed with Jaime and stuck me with my brother who had never played a shooting game before. He kept jumping into space and dying so then Paul and Jaime just ganged up on me. :P

Anyway, it was a fun time. I was sorry only a small portion of your family was theren. :)

The scoop on me: Believer for 20 years; married 19 years; 8 children so far, hoping for more; live on a great hobby farm, with 7 goats, 2 dogs and 68 chickens. Oh, and 1 bathroom. That's always fun. :) The scoop on our homeschool: Bible-first, Living Learning Moments, meaning if it happens, it's a lesson. We learn life! How long have we been homeschooling? Well, our oldest is 18. How much longer do we have to go? Well, our youngest is almost 1. We love it and wouldn't have it any other way.

Jeremiah 6:16
Thus saith the LORD, Stand ye in the ways, and see, and ask for the old paths, where is the good way, and walk therein, and ye shall find rest for your souls.
But they said, We will not walk therein.

HOMESCHOOLING
~Resources for Homeschoolers~

Keep their hearts. If you don't have their hearts, take note and re-capture their hearts!
Don't let the seeds sown by the ideal of today's youth culture ruin the glorious plans God has for your child.
Satan wants him. Your child is a jewel in Christ's crown, and satan wants him.
Train him as such.
You want him more. So does the Lord.

Deuteronomy 6:1-13

1 Now these are the commandments, the statutes, and the judgments, which the LORD your God commanded to teach you, that ye might do them in the land whither ye go to possess it:
2 That thou mightest fear the LORD thy God, to keep all his statutes and his commandments, which I command thee, thou, and thy son, and thy son's son, all the days of thy life; and that thy days may be prolonged.
3 Hear therefore, O Israel, and observe to do it; that it may be well with thee, and that ye may increase mightily, as the LORD God of thy fathers hath promised thee, in the land that floweth with milk and honey.
4 Hear, O Israel: The LORD our God is one LORD:
5 And thou shalt love the LORD thy God with all thine heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy might.
6 And these words, which I command thee this day, shall be in thine heart:
7 And thou shalt teach them diligently unto thy children, and shalt talk of them when thou sittest in thine house, and when thou walkest by the way, and when thou liest down, and when thou risest up.
8 And thou shalt bind them for a sign upon thine hand, and they shall be as frontlets between thine eyes.
9 And thou shalt write them upon the posts of thy house, and on thy gates.
10 And it shall be, when the LORD thy God shall have brought thee into the land which he sware unto thy fathers, to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob, to give thee great and goodly cities, which thou buildedst not,
11 And houses full of all good things, which thou filledst not, and wells digged, which thou diggedst not, vineyards and olive trees, which thou plantedst not; when thou shalt have eaten and be full;
12 Then beware lest thou forget the LORD, which brought thee forth out of the land of Egypt, from the house of bondage.
13 Thou shalt fear the LORD thy God, and serve him, and shalt swear by his name.

Exodus 20:1-17 The Ten Commandments

1 And God spake all these words, saying,
2 I am the LORD thy God, which have brought thee out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage.
3 Thou shalt have no other gods before me.
4 Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth.
5 Thou shalt not bow down thyself to them, nor serve them: for I the LORD thy God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation of them that hate me; 6 And shewing mercy unto thousands of them that love me, and keep my commandments.
7 Thou shalt not take the name of the LORD thy God in vain; for the LORD will not hold him guiltless that taketh his name in vain.
8 Remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy. 9Six days shalt thou labour, and do all thy work: 10 But the seventh day is the sabbath of the LORD thy God: in it thou shalt not do any work, thou, nor thy son, nor thy daughter, thy manservant, nor thy maidservant, nor thy cattle, nor thy stranger that is within thy gates: 11 For in six days the LORD made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them is, and rested the seventh day: wherefore the LORD blessed the sabbath day, and hallowed it.
12 Honour thy father and thy mother: that thy days may be long upon the land which the LORD thy God giveth thee.
13 Thou shalt not kill.
14 Thou shalt not commit adultery.
15 Thou shalt not steal.
16 Thou shalt not bear false witness against thy neighbour.
17 Thou shalt not covet thy neighbour's house, thou shalt not covet thy neighbour's wife, nor his manservant, nor his maidservant, nor his ox, nor his ass, nor any thing that is thy neighbour's.

Matthew 6:7-13
The Lord's Prayer

7 But when ye pray, use not vain repetitions, as the heathen do: for they think that they shall be heard for their much speaking.
8 Be not ye therefore like unto them: for your Father knoweth what things ye have need of, before ye ask him.
9 After this manner therefore pray ye: Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name.
10 Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven.
11 Give us this day our daily bread.
12 And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors.
13 And lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.
