I am so proud of Amanda, that she has made it these many years, and is now graduating! What an accomplishment! Though she will continue to learn bookwork, life-work and relationships in our home, she has certainly grown into a lovely young woman, and I am so proud of her!
Please grab Amanda’s icon and blog about this contest to help spread the word so other seniors can participate. Contest ends May 31st.
Also, I know this is late in the year, but I wanted to let you know that Amanda created a Homeschool Seniors’ blog last year with a list of the ‘08 seniors, if you are interested in being on the blogroll.
I am officially on for hosting the COH. SisterLisa, I know you said you already submitted one, but it probably went into this week’s carnival, which is, by the way, being hosted at Po Moyemu–In My Opinion.
My theme is easy: “End of the School Year - Or Is It?”
So, are you busy wrapping up school?
Are you done with school?
Do you wish you were done with school?
Do you think you will never be done with school?
What are you doing for summer?
Do you take a break or do you have plans?
Are you behind and summer won’t start ’til August?
What are your favorite summer projects?
Do you do a summer reading list?
Did you take a vacation you learned new stuff on… or are you going to?
Do you think school is better with a long summer break or several a year in-between?
Do you homeschool on the road?
Do you have outside plans that will count as school? (we garden for the summer)
You can send in a submission about anything homeschooling!! Send it via Blog Carnival by going here.
I am hosting the Carnival of Homeschooling on May 27th at Walking Therein. My theme is going to be “End of the School Year - Or Is It?” Something like that. Be sure to submit your articles starting on Tuesday, May 20th for my carnival. You can submit to the other before mine too!
I got this in an email. I thought I would pass it along!

Response was so overwhelming that we are going to do it again, and for even longer!

Each day during this year’s Teacher Appreciation Week, May 5–9, plus May 12, Learning A–Z will open one of its six password-protected websites. This will allow teachers to leisurely explore all of Learning A–Z’s resources, including our newest website for differentiated instruction, Science A–Z.You will find lessons, activities, and worksheets—for FREE.
Enjoy Six Days of FREE Access
The websites will be open on the days indicated below, from midnight to midnight Central time.
There are some very special events that are happening in May!
One is a scrapbooking giveaway worth over $100! Jocelyn did a spectacular article on scrapbooking and how much fun mothers and daughters can have doing it. A friend of mine, who is a Creative Memories Consultant, has donated a great prize for one of you to win!
Something Eric and Rachel and I were wishing we had the other day was a homemade candling box! Eric was sure he heard peeps coming from the eggs he had in the bowl of water to wash off. I was sure it was the air escaping from the shell, making a hissing sound. Rachel heard peeps. If you have ever questioned this, be sure to read what Suzanne wrote about Candling Eggs posted at Chickens in the Road. She shows you how to create a candling box.
Oh, and there were no chicks in our eggs, but the deviled eggs were sure delicious!
Dora Renee' Wilkerson shows us another fun and easy thing to do. She has wonderful pictures of how to make a Kumihimo braiding on a new disk she bought. Read her Braiding post posted at Y-2K Hippie.
SeaBird has harvested the last of the orange flowers from their butterfly garden. She did see at least one butterfly flitting about during the last couple of months. Read her presentation of From the butterfly garden posted at SeaBird Chronicles.
OOhhhh, my favorite! Mexican food! I love to make enchilada sauce from scratch, so I can't wait to read about Laura Williams' Enchilada Casserole posted at Laura Williams' Musings.
You can read some of our favorite Mexican Dinner recipes on the new blog I am trying to name. So far it has been Still Deciding (Jocelyn thinks she is funny), Life on the Homestead, and now it is Walking Therein. I am just trying the names on for size. Not sure if I shouldn't just stick with Seeking Rest in the Ancient Paths or Seeking rest on the Homestead or go with a new one. What do you think?
Autumn Beck has been reading about the ease and simplicity of flats, and it got her itching for a trial run, so she presents Flat Diapers? No Pins Necessary! posted at All About Cloth Diapers. I have made my own diapers, and I know it is a learning experience, so I can't wait to check this out!!
Stacy has a refreshing smoothie recipe to help start your day with energy! Her Green Tea Berry Smoothie is posted at Teaching Diligently - Homeschool Blogger. Oh man, does it look good. We have been sick around here, and in my research, I found that several of these ingredients are good for a cleanse for health. We just bought fruit and will be trying this this afternoon! Yumm!
You'll think you really died and went to heaven when you eat this cake Abi made. It is absolutely heavenly! The bad part about it all is that good things come to an end. You won't want to come to the end of this cake.Death by Chocolate posted at lighter side.
Erica Burgan shows us a cute little something that is also A Frugal Gift Made From Scratch posted at The Sojourner. Very cute gift idea. Or for yourself, even. And you can choose the fabric!
I am so glad we finally have flowers blooming and trees budding. It seems like it took forever for Spring to arrive here. Check out the beauty of spring and Amanda's hand at photography as she presents Gorgeous! posted at My Learning Experience.
I hope you have enjoyed the carnival this week. If you would like to submit a post to next week's carnival, please do so on this blogcarnival form. Our next hostess is SisterLisa at The HomeSpun Life.

The scoop on me: Believer for 20 years; married 19 years; 8 children so far, hoping for more; live on a great hobby farm, with 7 goats, 2 dogs and 68 chickens. Oh, and 1 bathroom. That's always fun. :)
The scoop on our homeschool: Bible-first, Living Learning Moments, meaning if it happens, it's a lesson. We learn life! How long have we been homeschooling? Well, our oldest is 18. How much longer do we have to go? Well, our youngest is almost 1. We love it and wouldn't have it any other way.
Jeremiah 6:16
Thus saith the LORD, Stand ye in the ways, and see, and ask for the old paths, where is the good way, and walk therein, and ye shall find rest for your souls.
Adam walked in the Garden with God. He talked with him. God was his companion. Yet, that did not complete man. God's plan was different. Even as Adam walked with God, God saw a need in his new creation. God met that need with a woman.
Genesis 2:18 And the LORD God said, It is not good that the man should be alone; I will make him an help meet for him.
Let us turn from the current 'pop-culture-christianity' society we live in and get back to the Word.

Keep their hearts. If you don't have their hearts, take note and re-capture their hearts!
Don't let the seeds sown by the ideal of today's youth culture ruin the glorious plans God has for your child.
Satan wants him. Your child is a jewel in Christ's crown, and satan wants him. Train him as such.
You want him more. So does the Lord.

Deuteronomy 6:1-13
1 Now these are the commandments, the statutes, and the judgments, which the LORD your God commanded to teach you, that ye might do them in the land whither ye go to possess it:
2 That thou mightest fear the LORD thy God, to keep all his statutes and his commandments, which I command thee, thou, and thy son, and thy son's son, all the days of thy life; and that thy days may be prolonged.
3 Hear therefore, O Israel, and observe to do it; that it may be well with thee, and that ye may increase mightily, as the LORD God of thy fathers hath promised thee, in the land that floweth with milk and honey.
4 Hear, O Israel: The LORD our God is one LORD:
5 And thou shalt love the LORD thy God with all thine heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy might.
6 And these words, which I command thee this day, shall be in thine heart:
7 And thou shalt teach them diligently unto thy children, and shalt talk of them when thou sittest in thine house, and when thou walkest by the way, and when thou liest down, and when thou risest up.
8 And thou shalt bind them for a sign upon thine hand, and they shall be as frontlets between thine eyes.
9 And thou shalt write them upon the posts of thy house, and on thy gates.
10 And it shall be, when the LORD thy God shall have brought thee into the land which he sware unto thy fathers, to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob, to give thee great and goodly cities, which thou buildedst not,
11 And houses full of all good things, which thou filledst not, and wells digged, which thou diggedst not, vineyards and olive trees, which thou plantedst not; when thou shalt have eaten and be full;
12 Then beware lest thou forget the LORD, which brought thee forth out of the land of Egypt, from the house of bondage.
13 Thou shalt fear the LORD thy God, and serve him, and shalt swear by his name.
1 And God spake all these words, saying,
2 I am the LORD thy God, which have brought thee out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage.
3 Thou shalt have no other gods before me.
4 Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth.
5 Thou shalt not bow down thyself to them, nor serve them: for I the LORD thy God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation of them that hate me; 6 And shewing mercy unto thousands of them that love me, and keep my commandments.
7 Thou shalt not take the name of the LORD thy God in vain; for the LORD will not hold him guiltless that taketh his name in vain.
8 Remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy. 9Six days shalt thou labour, and do all thy work: 10 But the seventh day is the sabbath of the LORD thy God: in it thou shalt not do any work, thou, nor thy son, nor thy daughter, thy manservant, nor thy maidservant, nor thy cattle, nor thy stranger that is within thy gates: 11 For in six days the LORD made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them is, and rested the seventh day: wherefore the LORD blessed the sabbath day, and hallowed it.
12 Honour thy father and thy mother: that thy days may be long upon the land which the LORD thy God giveth thee.
13 Thou shalt not kill.
14 Thou shalt not commit adultery.
15 Thou shalt not steal.
16 Thou shalt not bear false witness against thy neighbour.
17 Thou shalt not covet thy neighbour's house, thou shalt not covet thy neighbour's wife, nor his manservant, nor his maidservant, nor his ox, nor his ass, nor any thing that is thy neighbour's.
7 But when ye pray, use not vain repetitions, as the heathen do:
for they think that they shall be heard for their much speaking.
8 Be not ye therefore like unto them: for your Father knoweth
what things ye have need of, before ye ask him.
9 After this manner therefore pray ye:
Our Father which art in heaven,
Hallowed be thy name.
10 Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven.
11 Give us this day our daily bread.
12 And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors.
13 And lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power,
and the glory, for ever. Amen.
