MARIA SUE CHAPMAN, DAUGHTER OF STEVEN CURTIS CHAPMAN, DIES IN ACCIDENT AT FAMILY HOME
NASHVILLE, TN...5/21/08... At approximately 5pm on the afternoon of Wednesday May 21st, Maria Sue Chapman, 5 years old and the youngest daughter to Steven and Mary Beth Chapman was struck by an SUV driven by her teenage brother in the driveway of the Chapman home in Franklin, TN. Maria was rushed to Vanderbilt Childrens Hospital in Nashville, transported by LifeFlight, but died of her injuries there. Maria is one of the close knit family’s six children and one of their three adopted daughters.
More than five years ago, Chapman and his wife MaryBeth founded The Shaohannah’s Hope Ministry after bringing their first adopted daughter, Shaohannah, home from China. The ministry’s goal is to help families reduce the financial barrier of adoption, and has provided grants to over 1700 families wishing to adopt orphans from around the world.
Let's join together in prayer and sorrow for this Christian family. There are no words, only sorrow. I am grieving with them. This is so sad. please pray for everyone, but especially her brother.
I came across this at the Lighthouse Patriot Journal today, and I have to share it. Anyone else feel this way?
I am all for voting and democracy, and I certainly don’t want to live under Socialism… but have you looked into the political voting records and agendas? Are they too far off from socialism anyway?
2 Chronicles 7:14
If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.
In the spirit of my previous post about AB2943 that will make spanking in CA illegal, I am going to post this newspaper clipping that was passed to me from someone on Home Where They Belong. I received an anonymous comment saying that spanking is abuse. My reply to that comment is in this vein.
Enjoy the irony of it all.... and lament the sadness...
Click on the picture if you can't see the whole clipping.
I received this information in an email. I think some of these CA legislators have completely lost all of their minds. Totally. I believe in the power of the voting box, but PRAYER is even stronger than that!
Let's pray for these decisions. I have said this before... and I saw a trickling of the CA anti-homeschool law affect other state decisions... if this becomes law, it WILL affect every American. Period. We are deceiving ourselves if we think it won't.
Your immediate action is needed. Please contact all the committee members and your own representatives too. AB 2943 is scheduled for a hearing and vote Tuesday, April 15 in the Assembly Public Safety Committee. There are four Democrats and two Republicans on the committee. If this ratio holds firm and one Democrat votes "no" or abstains, AB 2943 would be stopped.
April 10, 2008: The legislator who wants to arrest and jail good parents who occasionally spank their children is back with a vengeance.
Assemblywoman Sally Lieber, the termed-out Democrat Speaker pro Tempore from the San Jose area, has gutted and amended her bill AB 2943, tranforming it into last year's highly-controversial bill punishing any parent who uses an “implement” to spank their children.
AB 2943 would label good, loving parents -- who occasionally use a little paddle, a ruler, a little stick, or a brush to correct their youngster's misbehavior -- as official "child abusers" in the eyes of the law.
Under AB 2943, police officers, district attorneys, juries, and child protective services will view ALL parents who spank as suspected child abusers worthy of investigation.
This bad bill would mean good parents could be arrested and spend the night in jail. Their children would be removed from the home and placed in foster care for "protection." If convicted of using an "implement" to spank their child (even if it was only one time), the parent would be ordered into "nonviolent parental education" and their children could be taken away for four years or more.
PLEASE ACT NOW
AB 2943 is scheduled for a hearing and vote Tuesday, April 15 in the Assembly Public Safety Committee. There are four Democrats and two Republicans on the committee. If this ratio holds firm and one Democrat votes "no" or abstains, AB 2943 would be stopped.
Your immediate action is needed. Please contact all the committee members and your own representatives too.
1. Contact the committee members and your own elected representatives in Sacramento
2. Bring yourself and your children to the April 15 hearing at the State Capitol. The committee members need to see and hear from good mothers and good fathers that AB 2943 would tranform into suspected child abusers. We need California moms and dads and their children to pack out the committee room!
Please rearrange your schedule, cancel other activities, put aside your fear, put on faith, and show up to the committee room on Tuesday, April 15. Be prepared to go to the microphone to say your name and why you’re opposed to AB 2943. Ten seconds of speaking is all that is needed. Yes, you can do it.

This is not an alarmist view. This is something, that if passed, will give yet another precedent for lawmakers to continue to systematically take away the rights of parents to lovingly lead their children to the Lord just so the state can further their own agenda.
This is not about child abuse. This is about the government getting their hands just a little further into our business. They want our children. They want to eliminate our freedom to act out our faith. Bills like this are only brought up to enable them to take children for their own reasons or benefit, not the family's or the child's. This is wrong. God did not intend for them to abuse their place in the government.
We are the parents. I know that means little to those who are power-hungry people, but it means everything to God. You cannot lump all parents into the same mold. America is not supposed to be a Socialist country. We are free to live out our faith, just as others of no faith are... or we should be free to.
I hate forwarded emails, and I usually delete them. However, if they are credible and important, I will keep them and share the information. Grandma had a stroke almost fifteen years ago, and I did not undestand anything about it, nor had I ever known anyone who had ever had a stroke. The older you get, the more you realize the importance of knowing about these things. :))
Blood Clots and Stroke
STROKE: Remember The 1st Three Letters.... S.T.R. If everyone can remember something this simple, we could save some folks.
They Now Have a Fourth Indicator, the Tongue.
Seriously Please read:
STROKE IDENTIFICATION: During a BBQ, a friend stumbled and took a little fall - she assured everyone that she was fine (they offered to call paramedics) ....she said she had just tripped over a brick because of her new shoes. They got her cleaned up and got her a new plate of food. While she appeared a bit shaken up, Ingrid went about enjoying herself the rest of the evening. Ingrid's husband called later telling everyone that his wife had been taken to the hospital - (at 6:00 PM Ingrid passed away.) She had suffered a stroke at the BBQ. Had they known how to identify the signs of a stroke, perhaps Ingrid would be with us today. Some don't die.... They end up in a helpless, hopeless condition instead. It only takes a minute to read this... A neurologist says that if he can get to a stroke victim within 3 hours he can totally reverse the effects of a stroke... Totally. He said the trick was getting a stroke recognized, diagnosed, and then getting the patient medically cared for within 3 hours, which is tough.
RECOGNIZING A STROKE Thank God for the sense to remember the "3" steps, STR. Read and Learn! Sometimes symptoms of a stroke are difficult to identify. Unfortunately, the lack of awareness spells disaster. The stroke victim may suffer severe brain damage when people nearby fail to recognize the symptoms of a stroke .
Now doctors say a bystander can recognize a stroke by asking three simple questions:
S * Ask the individual To SMILE
T* Ask the person To TALK and SPEAK A SIMPLE SENTENCE (Coherently) (I.e. It is sunny out today) .
R * Ask him or > Her to RAISE BOTH ARMS. If he or she has trouble with ANY ONE of these tasks, call 999/911 immediately and describe the Symptoms to the dispatcher.
New Sign of a Stroke -------- Stick out Your Tongue
NOTE: Another 'sign' of a stroke is this: Ask the person to 'stick' out his tongue.. If the tongue is 'crooked', if it goes to one side or the other, that is also an indication of a stroke.
I found the rest of this information on a site about the same email:
Diabetes 101 also has a drawn picture of a clogged artery and effects of a stroke on the brain, if you are interested.
Editors Note: Remember, a diabetic has 4 times the chances of having a stroke, as a non-diabetic.
To whoever put this together, we are sorry we can not credit you because we do not have the information, but do think this sounds like a very important message, and tests, our readers should know about.....immediately, thank you.
Since this came from an unknown source and theire are so many wild invalid "warning" emails sent around we all get suckered into every now and then, we decided to check this out at a Hoax site. We went to http://www.hoax-slayer.com/identify-stroke.htm and here is what they said, in part about this apparently well known email being sent around.
Commentary:
The procedure for identifying a stroke that is getting released in this email forward is valid.
According to information available on the American Stroke Association's website, the three questions outlined in the email are a medically viable method for a layperson to ascertain if a person is presenting with stroke symptoms.
The procedure was originally outlined in a report to the American Stroke Association's 28th International Stroke Conference.
The report states that a bystander may be able to spot someone having a stroke by giving the person a simple, quick test to see if they can smile, raise both arms and keep them up, and speak a simple sentence coherently.
Certainly, the core information in the email is worth heeding. Knowing how to conduct this simple test could indeed save a person's life. The aforementioned report explains that if bystanders can relay results of this test to an emergency dispatcher, it could speed treatment to stroke patients. Time is crucial in treating stroke.
America's National Stroke Association lists the following as common symptoms of stroke:
Sudden numbness or weakness of face, arm or leg, especially on one side of the body
Sudden confusion, trouble speaking or understanding
Sudden trouble seeing in one or both eyes
Sudden trouble walking, dizziness, loss of balance or coordination
Sudden severe headache with no known cause
Given this list of symptoms, it is easy to see how the simple three-question test could help identify a stroke.
However, there is an important point that needs to be considered. While the central information in the email is true, the absence of these symptoms does not necessarily indicate that a person is NOT having a stroke.
It could be extremely dangerous to reach the conclusion that a person did not require medical attention just because he or she could successfully carry out the three steps outlined in the test.
Editors Note: This means that the test can be helpful in diagnosis, of a stroke and the immediate need for treatment, However, complying with the test does not prove that the person has NOT had a stroke and you need to proceed as if they had, until proven differently by additional actions and means.
Please remember Robin in your prayers. She has gone back into the hospital. To put your mind at ease, please start by reading her first sweet, cheerful, faith-ful post on the matter at her blog: We Interrupt This Blog For Medical Testing….. The medical update is Update on Robin. They don't really know much yet, though.
Also, continue to remember Baby Grace (4 weeks old), on oxygen in the hospital with rsv.
And, Caleb had a great night last night. He rested quite a bit yesterday, and I think that helped so very much. Thank you for your prayers!! I am still going to be taking him to be checked out on Monday. I don't like the 'pains' he is having. I don't know if they are from the influenza or something to worry about. Please pray for complete healing in his blood and all of his organs and immune system.
Homeschool Freedom in California
The court's opinion came down in February 28. In it, CA Justice H. Walter Croskey wrote,
"Parents do not have a constitutional right to home school their children."
I also wrote up a great post about the CA ruling outlawing homeschooling. The new info is that Governor Schwarzenegger has come out stating that he will fight for a parent's right to home educate their children. *double-take*
"Every California child deserves a quality education and parents should have the right to decide what's best for their children. Parents should not be penalized for acting in the best interests of their children's education. This outrageous ruling must be overturned by the courts and if the courts don't protect parents' rights then, as elected officials, we will."
I am concerned about the way California public educators and officials interpret their capacity in enforcing the education laws they have. As though parents have no rights.
California's compulsory-education law is widely interpreted to mean the state is obliged to make sure every child is educated.
That needs to be changed, especially in light of the past year of what California public educators think is necessary to be taught to children. That is why this stand by Governor Schwarzegger is astounding to me. What do you think?
Just to add a bit to my previous post, Mike Huckabee and the HSLDA, I just read on Spunky's post that Ned Ryun actually no longer works for HSLDA. This does not lessen the importance on his stand or opinion of HSLDA's endorsement of the candidate. As a matter of fact, the information revealed by him on his blog in reference to his leaving HSLDA PAC is quite telling and only solidifies the question of the hour: Why is the HSLDA endorsing Mike Huckabee? Here is what he had to say in his post, I’m Not at HSLDA Anymore:
My web designer is on a month long honeymoon, and I’m behind on updating my blog profile. I think some people thought I was still at HSLDA. I am not at HSLDA anymore, folks, and have to say, thank God. Dissent is not allowed in Mike Farris’ world, as was demonstrated last year at PHC (a travesty, and BTW, the professors accused of not being Christians, etc. were all cleared by their churches of any wrongdoing; I could blog on that issue for awhile, and maybe I will in the future). If I was still at HSLDA blogging like I have been, I would have probably either been told to stop or risk being fired. So I hate to disappoint some who think that freedom of thought and conscience are allowed at HSDLA. I was still at HSLDA when HSLDA-PAC endorsed Huckabee, but even though I was the PAC director at the time, was not informed of the endorsement until after the fact. I actually laughed when I was informed of it. I brought up the fact that we do not endorse in primaries unless there is a clear-cut conservative vs. liberal match-up. I was told by Mike Smith, President of HSLDA, that these were extraordinary circumstances, which I heard as really meaning Smith and the HSLDA board members lacked the courage to say no to Farris. As has been clearly documented by Spunky Homeschool, HSLDA has condemned Huckabee’s anti-homeschool legislation in the past, and yet now endorses him because . . . I think HSLDA members need to ask, Is the defense of homeschooling still the priority for HSLDA, or are there other things that are priority? And really, what are membership dues being used for?
This bothers me:
"I was still at HSLDA when HSLDA-PAC endorsed Huckabee, but even though I was the PAC director at the time, was not informed of the endorsement until after the fact."
So, you decide. Does that bother you? It is all rather disturbing.
Our family does not fit into any of these categories:
Homeschoolers who belong to the HSLDA.
Homeschoolers for Huckabee.
Homeschoolers who belong to the HSLDA who support Huckabee.
As a matter of fact, when I first heard of or saw the slogan, "Homeschoolers for Huckabee", I thought, "Homeschoolers for WHO? Why are we for him?" As a homeschooler, I was kind of offended, frankly. Don't lump me in there. I don't know diddly about this guy. But, thanks to Spunky, her commenters and a little digging around, I do now.
There has been a discussion over at Home Where They Belong about this. Spunky has written 3separate articlesabout it. Now that I have read over these issues, I am more offended that homeschoolers would back Huckabee under the auspices that he "supports" homeschooling. Doesn't the fact that the liberal NEA endorses him send up red flags? I posted on HWTB a few months ago about of the directives in the The 2007 - 2008 NEA Resolutions which makes this abundantly clear,
"The National Education Association believes that home schooling programs based on parental choice cannot provide the student with a comprehensive education experience. When home schooling occurs, students enrolled must meet all state curricular requirements, including the taking and passing of assessments to ensure adequate academic progress. Home schooling should be limited to the children of the immediate family, with all expenses being borne by the parents/guardians. Instruction should be by persons who are licensed by the appropriate state education licensure agency, and a curriculum approved by the state department of education should be used."
How's that for control? Homeschoolers should be overseen by and regulated by the state, but when it comes to funding for the homeschool, well, "You're on your own, buddy!" I think this is closer to Huckabee's stance on homeschooling. That he is more for public control of education than the freedom we homeschoolers desire and *require* to educate our children.
And, someone in blog-world brought up the question of Michael Farris as Sect. of Education?? Not sure I like that idea either. Especially since HSLDA has come out in support of Huckabee. Either the HSLDA endorses candidates who work toward their common goal or they don't. I find it disconcerting and a lack in their judgment to endorse him when they, in their own Court Report, record Mike Huckabee's signing of such bills into law as an "effort to increase state regulation of home education," which is the exact opposite direction they fight to take homeschooling legislation. Their stance on homeschool regulation is that "The federal role in education is a violation of the 10th amendment of the United States Constitution which states, “The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the States, are reserved to the States respectively, or to the people.” as stated on their website. Add to that, a statement by someone who is affiliated with the HSLDA (read: A former presidential writer for George W. Bush and son of sitting U.S. Congressman Jim Ryun, Ned Ryun is the Director of the Generation Joshua program, a division of Home School Legal Defense Association. Ned also directs the HSLDA Federal Political Action Committee.) and says he thinks Huckabee is "a disaster," I think there are a lot of questions we as homeschoolers and US citizens must ask.
Many homeschoolers are not members of HSLDA. Many disagree with their religious politics. I think it is wrong to say that "homeschoolers are for Huckabee" just because the HSLDA supports them. I remember when I first heard of HSLDA. It was when the ACLU kept sticking their noses into things that really were not their issues to deal with, and the ACLJ was becoming more popular. It seemed that many Christian and moral freedoms were being questioned or taken away, and to transfer the need for homeschooling freedoms was natural. And, HSLDA has done a great job in protecting homeschool rights. One thing I do not appreciate though, is that many homeschoolers (though I was probably one myself - now I know) will tell you about HSLDA like you have to belong or you are unprotected. We were members for 1 year. When we didn't renew our membership, I remember feeling that if something happened to jeopardize our homeschooling freedoms, we would have no one. That was complete fallacy.
So, where does this "feeling" of fear like the one I experienced come from? I think what many think about HSLDA has to do with the circles they run in or read. I would venture to say that a good many of those who belong to HSLDA don't read blogs at all, and would not hear anything negative about HSLDA in the media or from their local homeschool community.
And, since it is presented as "homeschool insurance", and many of us have grown into homeschooling feeling the need to defend our choice (and considering our litigious world) that we feel like we need "insurance", so to speak. However, we do not need "homeschool insurance". We need to know our laws and our rights. We can all find those out, and if the need arises, there are other lawyers out there who can litigate homeschool cases based on established law.
I really do appreciate the Home School Legal Defense Association for being a source of information, advocating for home educators, and for standing up for homeschooling rights. I do use their site as a resource for homeschool state laws. But, we need to realize that when homeschoolers as a group start to rally behind a particular candidate just because the HSLDA endorses him - without doing any further looking - then we as a group have given that particular institution too much power. And, that, my friends, is one reason we homeschool... so the power to think and learn is in our hands and not someone else's who feels the need to tell us what decisions we should make.
Though not the only important issue, and maybe not even the MOST important issue, the issue of Education is a rights/freedom issue. Education is an important issue. History proves it out. Governments and religious organizations both know the importance of the education of its' citizens to the advancement of their agenda. As homeschool parents, we know the importance of a home education to the future of our children. It makes me wonder why the HSLDA would support a candidate who clearly legislates against the homeschooling efforts they themselves so staunchly support.
For some homeschoolers, deciding which Republican candidate to vote for isn't an issue. If you fall on the other side of the voting ticket, make sure you look completely into the Democratic candidate's records too. Some things that would affect your rights as not just a homeschooler, but as a parent are a little more obscure than a voting record. Hillary backs the Convention on the Rights of the Child, which is more than 'child-focused'. While many of the laws it creates are good for any child or family, many of them take the rights of parents and turn them over to the state. That includes homeschooling. Yes, homeschooling is considered child-endangerment. So is teaching them your religious beliefs. The Convention basically puts the child in the driver's seat, and if s/he no longer wants to comply with your parenting, s/he can appeal to the government, and be sure your child will either be taken away or you will.
Under the Constitution’s Supremacy Clause of Article VI Section.2, “all treaties made, or which shall be made, under the authority of the United States, shall be the supreme law of the land; and the judges in every state shall be bound thereby, anything in the constitution of laws of any state to the contrary notwithstanding.”
In Missouri v. Holland, (252 U.S. 416), the U.S. Supreme Court held that under the Supremacy Clause a treaty made by the President, with concurrence of two-thirds of the Senate present at the time of voting, would become the supreme law and take precedent over contrary state laws. Thus, the U.N. Convention would constitute legally binding law in all 50 states. Otherwise valid state laws pertaining to education, the family, etc., which conflict with the provisions of the treaty will be subject to invalidation.
From what I understand, any law passed by the UN cannot overstep a law already in place in the country or state, but, when I last heard, the US had no such laws to counteract the Convention's stand on homeschooling, so this law would change the current homeschooling freedoms we have in the US. Hillary intends to implement it as one of the first things she does in office. I do not know about Obama or even Edwards... or any of the Republican candidates. Hillary has always been vocal in her support of it, and though it is touted as a good thing, it is not. Take the time to read it. Read it from a parent's perspective, not as "the village trying raise the child".
I have to agree with Spunky that "we understand there are politicians and reformers whose faith rests in the power of the state and who are actively attempting to move this country away from the principles of our founding and toward socialism and a planned economy; where our children are viewed simply as workers to compete in the global economy. "
The commenters have raised very good questions and points as well at Spunky's discussion of Mike Huckabee. No matter what side of the ballot you are on, be sure to research this for yourself.
I am still unsure of who I am going to vote for. Must I interject the old adage that "you cannot trust a politician"? I think not. However, it would behoove me to vote for someone I already know I can't trust, don't you think? I wish more of us would vote our conscience, instead of considering someone's "electibility". I think we would be pleasantly surprised if we did.
I am working on a post about Mike Huckabee and why in the world Homeschoolers are supporting him. I can't, and I won't, do a better job giving you facts than Spunky did on Home Where They Belong and also at Spunky Homeschool, but I do have a couple of things to say on the subject. It bothers me the way facts have been mis-represented and also that the HSLDA would support him in light of that. (I still think there's something more there.)
If you have time, I would read both threads on her double-posts, because there are different comments on each thread. Be sure to start at the first post and then the 4 or 5 following ones. You have to know Spunky thinks this is pretty important information for homeschoolers if she came out of "blog-retirement" lol to put together such informative posts. And just at the right time too!!
Please make sure you check out these two posts on the topic:
Whether you are for or against Huckabee, get out and vote. It always irks me when people sit around and complain about the shape our country is in, but when election time comes around, they act like they don't have time or it's pointless to vote.
I also posted my To Christmas or Not To Christmas post. For those of you who celebrate Christmas, Merry Christmas! I cannot believe this is the last week in 2007. Wow. Am I getting old or is time just moving faster? And please pray for my little Hannie. She is feeling a little better but has been under the weather.
The scoop on me: Believer for 20 years; married 19 years; 8 children so far, hoping for more; live on a great hobby farm, with 7 goats, 2 dogs and 68 chickens. Oh, and 1 bathroom. That's always fun. :)
The scoop on our homeschool: Bible-first, Living Learning Moments, meaning if it happens, it's a lesson. We learn life! How long have we been homeschooling? Well, our oldest is 18. How much longer do we have to go? Well, our youngest is almost 1. We love it and wouldn't have it any other way.
Jeremiah 6:16
Thus saith the LORD, Stand ye in the ways, and see, and ask for the old paths, where is the good way, and walk therein, and ye shall find rest for your souls.
Adam walked in the Garden with God. He talked with him. God was his companion. Yet, that did not complete man. God's plan was different. Even as Adam walked with God, God saw a need in his new creation. God met that need with a woman.
Genesis 2:18 And the LORD God said, It is not good that the man should be alone; I will make him an help meet for him.
Let us turn from the current 'pop-culture-christianity' society we live in and get back to the Word.

Deuteronomy 6:1-13
1 Now these are the commandments, the statutes, and the judgments, which the LORD your God commanded to teach you, that ye might do them in the land whither ye go to possess it:
2 That thou mightest fear the LORD thy God, to keep all his statutes and his commandments, which I command thee, thou, and thy son, and thy son's son, all the days of thy life; and that thy days may be prolonged.
3 Hear therefore, O Israel, and observe to do it; that it may be well with thee, and that ye may increase mightily, as the LORD God of thy fathers hath promised thee, in the land that floweth with milk and honey.
4 Hear, O Israel: The LORD our God is one LORD:
5 And thou shalt love the LORD thy God with all thine heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy might.
6 And these words, which I command thee this day, shall be in thine heart:
7 And thou shalt teach them diligently unto thy children, and shalt talk of them when thou sittest in thine house, and when thou walkest by the way, and when thou liest down, and when thou risest up.
8 And thou shalt bind them for a sign upon thine hand, and they shall be as frontlets between thine eyes.
9 And thou shalt write them upon the posts of thy house, and on thy gates.
10 And it shall be, when the LORD thy God shall have brought thee into the land which he sware unto thy fathers, to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob, to give thee great and goodly cities, which thou buildedst not,
11 And houses full of all good things, which thou filledst not, and wells digged, which thou diggedst not, vineyards and olive trees, which thou plantedst not; when thou shalt have eaten and be full;
12 Then beware lest thou forget the LORD, which brought thee forth out of the land of Egypt, from the house of bondage.
13 Thou shalt fear the LORD thy God, and serve him, and shalt swear by his name.
1 And God spake all these words, saying,
2 I am the LORD thy God, which have brought thee out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage.
3 Thou shalt have no other gods before me.
4 Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth.
5 Thou shalt not bow down thyself to them, nor serve them: for I the LORD thy God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation of them that hate me; 6 And shewing mercy unto thousands of them that love me, and keep my commandments.
7 Thou shalt not take the name of the LORD thy God in vain; for the LORD will not hold him guiltless that taketh his name in vain.
8 Remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy. 9Six days shalt thou labour, and do all thy work: 10 But the seventh day is the sabbath of the LORD thy God: in it thou shalt not do any work, thou, nor thy son, nor thy daughter, thy manservant, nor thy maidservant, nor thy cattle, nor thy stranger that is within thy gates: 11 For in six days the LORD made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them is, and rested the seventh day: wherefore the LORD blessed the sabbath day, and hallowed it.
12 Honour thy father and thy mother: that thy days may be long upon the land which the LORD thy God giveth thee.
13 Thou shalt not kill.
14 Thou shalt not commit adultery.
15 Thou shalt not steal.
16 Thou shalt not bear false witness against thy neighbour.
17 Thou shalt not covet thy neighbour's house, thou shalt not covet thy neighbour's wife, nor his manservant, nor his maidservant, nor his ox, nor his ass, nor any thing that is thy neighbour's.
