Nothing very exciting to report on this ride. I was actually a bit discouraged after I was finished -- I will tell you why later.
We went to the cemetery a few blocks away and rode there -- very respectfully and quietly -- because there are a lot of turns there for me to practice. I am doing better, but I'm not very consistent. My hardest turns are the sharp ones because I feel like I'm going to tip the bike over.
We went shopping for bikes again. We are either going to give it three weeks and then make a decision about buying a new bike this summer or we may buy the used one we saw yesterday sometime this week or next, or me may just wait until next summer.
I really, really, really want that black V Star 650 (see pic in other entry below), but I'm not sure this is the time to invest in it. There are other things that may need to take priority at this time. I'm a bit discouraged about this. I was really hoping to have my own ride to practice on. Oh well. God knows best! His ways are not our ways -- and He will provide the right bike! I really believe that.
Here's what the 2003 Suzuki Intruder 800 that we looked at looks like:
I really like it. It's a nice bike -- and it only has 4000 miles on it. It also has a drive shaft instead of a chain, which makes me feel a bit more easy. (Chains break.) The seat is real nice. The bike has some serious wear on the muffler and handle bars and it's just not as shiny and new and beautiful as the V Star! But, if we can get a really good deal on this one, we might just take it. It's all in God's hands! It has a windshield. The guy who owned it before was very, very short. So I'm sure I'll be able to handle it since I am several inches taller than he was!
Now, about yesterday's ride: I freaked out leaving the cemetery. It was downhill rock to the highway, and I just couldn't make myself turn in that rock going down hill onto that highway! So, my back wheel got stuck in the rut between the rocks and the highway and there I was with my nose sticking out in the road.
Again, I'm grateful to live in a low-traffic zone with very attentive and gracious drivers. They all just went around me and when the traffic was clear, I finally took off. My husband wasn't too happy with me! But, I had to remind him about how I'm just a week old into this riding thing!
I'm sure you're all sick of hearing about my rides! I promise to get back to home schooling subjects again -- eventually. But it's vacation time and I am having FUN!
