The protocol of this award is to pass it on. I have several people in mind that I think do an amazing job in their homeschool and their blog, and I will post the award in a few days.
As for what I've been up to lately. Whew. What a whirlwind!
1. Cottage school is up and running again. I have ten students this year: One Kindergartener, one 2nd grader, one 4th grader, four 6th graders, and three 11th graders. What a range! We are having great fun, though. It's a good class. My right hand helper had major surgery the first day of school, so I am learning how to do things differently and how to work with new helpers! God is good. He sent me help just in time!
2. I was up all night Friday taking my son to be an extra in the film Pendragon. He was a barbaric Saxon and thoroughly enjoyed himself. I will be posting pictures later. He filmed from 11 PM to 6 AM in the morning and loved every minute of it. I wish he could have gone back this weekend, but he went to visit his grandparents. (More on that below.)
3. The following day, I was exhausted and still had to drive six hours home from Michigan where the filming took place. Finally, we made it home, then I had to dig in doing laundry so my boys and their dad could go to Kansas to visit grandparents. Our summer had been so busy that they hadn't gotten to go to Grandma's yet. So they will miss a week of school -- but as far as I'm concerned -- that is school! They learn so much from traveling!
4. On Sunday, we had church that morning and a cook out that night, and then I was up late again doing laundry and packing everyone up to go to Kansas.
We had a bit of excitement today. I was running errands for my friend who had surgery, and my husband called thirty minutes before the post office closed and told me he forgot the twins' meds! So, I rushed to the post office and overnighted them to grandma's. Hopefully they will be okay until they get there! I just pray they really do get there on time!
Now I get to have quiet evenings at home to reflect, to miss my boys and my husband, and to be refreshed and appreciate the noise, laundry, chaos and messes a family of men brings. Ahhhh. I think I can handle the silence!
