Parade magazine wants our vote

Posted in Opinion

Parade magazine has posted a poll online about homeschooling and teacher credentials.

Before you vote, keep this quote in mind.

“Some of the worst teachers I’ve ever seen are highly certified. Look at our public schools. They’re full of certified teachers. What kind of magic is that accomplishing? But I can take you to the best teachers I’ve ever seen, and most of them are uncertified.... We don’t have evidence at all that what we do in schools of education makes much difference in teacher competence.”
—Dr. Donald Ericksen, UCLA

Should parents need teaching credentials to home-school their kids?

...And should a magazine aspire to speak with authority about an issue with which they have limited experience?

According the poll, most people don't think hs parents need credentials. If however, the weirdos that seem to be trying to take over the country ever do get their way to make such outrageous regulations, I think a lot us will be outlaws!
I'm so happy I live in the south, we're much more constitutionally minded here. That's not to say folks in the north are not, it just seems to me that the more liberal, restrictive government types come out of Cali and the north.
