Cicadas Invade St. Petersburg!!!
This morning the children awoke to discover a cicada had landed on a low branch of one of our trees and emerged from its nymphal shell. How cool!!! He was still hanging there right at eye-level!! We observed it for quite a while and then he flew away...

Gross, crunchy bug. We're about to get inundated with lovebugs...for real. They swarm twice a year and totally cover parts of the house and hang in the air like big clouds. And if you brush them or squish them, they stink and leave a goo on you...
But I hope you enjoy your cicadas! We have enough noise here with all the frogs and mating lizards.
