Advent is simply a time set apart for spiritual preparation. Those
weeks between
Thanksgiving and Christmas should prepare us for
the glorious celebration
of God's Son, Jesus Christ, coming to earth
as a man. The best sites
I have found to get started celebrating advent are:

Many of you have read
one of the books in the Jotham's Journey
trilogy. I’m sure
you enjoyed it as much as our family has the past
few years. We are always
on the edge of our seats each night when
we close the book. We
can not wait to read more!!! All three books
are quite exciting and
provide many opportunities for discussion.
We have read Jotham’s
Journey at least three times, as well as
Bartholomew’s Passage
and Tabitha’s Travels.
Below are
descriptions of each book. If you have not read any
of these books, I would
recommend reading Jotham's Journey first.
If that does not work
out for you, feel free to read them in any order.
One of the reasons I
mention these books NOW is so they will be
available in your home
as soon as Thanksgiving is over. The past
few years we have sold
out of these books and some families had to
play catch up so they
could finish in time for Christmas. Don’t wait
or you may be too late.
If you buy the entire
set, you will receive 20% off. You will be so
glad you purchased ALL
of them!

Journey
JOTHAM'S
JOURNEY
Over and over Jotham
screamed for his family, but there was no one to
hear him. They had
vanished. He was alone. Where had they gone? How
long ago had they
left? Through quick, stabbing sobs Jotham told himself,
I
must look for my family. I must search until I find them.
Thus begins
Jothams' Journey.
In one of the most
exciting Advent stories you will ever read, follow
10 year old Jotham
across Israel as he seraches for his family.
Hold
your breath when he
faces thieves, robbers, and kidnappers. Rejoice
in his encounters with
wise men, shepherds and innkeepers until at last
he finds his way to
the Savior born in Bethlehem.
BARTHOLOMEW'S
PASSAGE
Day by day through the
Advent season, you and your family can prepare
for Christmas by
reading Bartholomew's spellbinding story. Follow
him from when Roman
soldiers destroy his village and disperse his
family, through his
enslavement to a tyrannical master and his
escape with his new
friend Nathan, to his reunion with his family and
a wonderful climax in
Bethlehem. Along
the way Bartholomew meets
a new pal, Jotham,
whom many readers have grown to love in
Jotham's
Journey.
TABITHA'S
TRAVELS
The adventures of
Jotham and Bartholomew continue as their friend
Tabitha begins her own
travels. What happened to Tabitha from the time
Jotham left her until
Bartholomew met her? Where did she go when
she left Qumran, and did she ever accomplish what she set out to
do?
Tabitha's
Travels follows Jotham's
friend to places that girls aren't
supposed to go in 4
B.C. Palestine!
Never one to shy away from an
adventure or a fight,
Tabitha shows the men of her world just what a
girl can
do.
The third and final
installment of the Jotham's
Journey series,
Tabitha's
Travels ties up
all the loose ends, and lets us see
what was going on
while Jotham and Bartholomew had their
backs
turned!
Each book
includes:
-a portion of the story
for every day of Advent, including Christmas Day
-an advent calendar
schedule
-ideas for celebrating
Advent
- symbolism of the
candles
You should begin reading
on the Sunday after Thanksgiving as you
celebrate Advent this
year.
DON'T MISS THESE
FANTASTIC books.
(disclaimer #1 - there
are some rough scenes in a few parts of this book,
due to the time period
being described
disclaimer #2 - we prefer
the story in each book OVER the devotional
at the end of each
chapter!)
