February 15, 2006 - Yesterday was Great |
We celebrated Valentines Day as a
family...a tradition with us. When we sat down to our dinner
table, Steve prayed for our meal and remarked how beautiful the table
looked. He probably didn't know how much that meant to me.
I had spent a lot of time and effort preparing just the right meal for
our family. It was delicious and looked wonderful on the
table.
Speaking of delicious, we had filet mignon, potatoes anna, artichokes
and heart-shaped rolls. After dinner, we enjoyed Death by
Chocolate. It was as rich as its name suggests.
Overall, we had a fantastic day...good food, flowers, and love notes
for all of us. Since Steve has special flowers for our daughers
each year, I don't think they yearn for more. I remember going to high
school and enduring all the carnations that some girls get. My
kids don't have to deal with any of that. Isn't homeschooling
great?!?!

Thanks for your blog, Kerry!
It is the encouragement I needed today! We took my mother to a dr.s appt. yesterday which ended up being an all-day affair. The kids took things to study, but they didn't get much done. I felt discouraged at how my children were not inspired yesterday. I want to inspire them, but I get lazy and do not avail myself to the inspiration God wants to be for me.
They are inpired, however, each Valentine's Day (They're inspired more often than that!). We live in a tiny house with a table in a tiny kitchen. On Valentine's Day we pull the table into our tiny living room, light candles and decorate, and I make a special dinner. At the end of the meal, we take turns telling each other what we love about each other. It is SUCH a wonderful, affirming, fun time! I always cry (it's expected that Mom will cry), and we always laugh. It's a treasure to see those little love tanks fill up when we're telling them what wonderful, valuable unique people they are!
