March 3, 2006 - Doing the Right Thing |
There is only one form of political
strategy in which I have any confidence, and that is to try to do the
right thing - and sometimes be able to succeed.

Calvin Coolidge is one of the "coolest" presidents I have studied
(pardon the pun). It has been a few years since I studied him,
but I remember him being an upright man who strives to do the right
thing. When I read this quote, I thought it summed up the focus
in his life.
It is also a fantastic goal for our young people as they train to be
leaders of the future. I plan to read this to my kids today and
see what they have to say about it.

We are TJed-ers too! We are in core stage, so I usually tell people we are unschoolers with a classical bend. :) My kids are under 5, so we don't get to discuss Dante yet!
Mentoring at this age is setting example. It's showing a child respect, so they know how to respect other. It's letting them think for themselves, so they won't stop thinking. It's allowing them to follow their curiosity, so that the burning desire to learn never dies, just gets stronger. It going along side them for the journey- and loving every minute of it! |
