Beginning Our Journey

Aug. 3, 2006

Two weeks down.

We hit some snags on Alyssa being frustrated because she could not do something. But she is going good. With just two things to finish up tomorrow we are finished with another week. We doubled up today because Grandma is coming swimming tomorrow.

Alyssa is frustrated with her math because she was not copying her numbers exactly right. She is a perfectionist. I think this is pretty good.

She got especially frustrated with her 2's and 3's. So we had to take those slower.

I am having a hard time fitting Hooked on Phonics in with my days. I wanted to do it daily but with the part we are on being on a cassette tape - it is hard. I only have one in the bedroom and it is just not convient.

Anyways. The kids were on the computer today and I thought this was a cute picture. Tristan likes to watch the media player but Alyssa made me turn it off for her to play NickJr. Stinkin DH who taught her to use the computer! She is always wanting to have it from me now! lol

And her Magna doodle Buffalo! lol

Saw your mom and dad tonight. They parked right beside me as I was loading up the car at Wal-Mart.

Cameron can get easily frustrated too. But she looks like she is doing very well. And you know what they say: Practice, practice, practice. Number 2 and 3 are hard ones to make. Keep up the good work.

Aug. 4, 2006 - perfect numbers

Kennady still gets very frustrated if she doesn't form her letters and numbers PERFECTLY. Landon did that too. I think it's funny, because they'll draw stick figures that really bear very little resemblance to the person they are portraying and be completely delighted with that. Then write a number two that is just slightly crooked and it's the end of their world. LOL

Blessings,
Kym

I think Alyssa did a great job! Mackenzie is the same way. If she can't get it right the first time she flips.

We were at gymnastics, she messed up a cartwheel and was in tears. I think I've finally convinced her to ask her coach for help if she needs it. At least while at gymnastics.

Mackenzie was Alyssa's age when she started those books. We skipped most of the number writing. I'd let her trace 3 and write 3 then leave the rest. I figured she got enough handwriting from HWT and we'd work on the numbers more when they popped up in that book. Plus, I think those books require too much writing anyway. How many times do you really need to write the #1 in one sitting? LOL
