Well Tristan's numbers looked good according to the drs. But his ANC is falling. It was 3,800 last week. In one week it fell to 900. Yikes. Which they are fine with. This is intense treatment after all. The fast falling just means it is offical Tristan cannot leave the house without a mask and not into crowds. ABSOLUTELY no being around anyone sick. 500 is the no no level.
Oh and he does have thrush so he is on pills for that for 14 days. Where he would have been a week of no meds... except his antibiotic... now we still have pills! lol go figure.
So anyways.... we are halfway.... steroids through Monday. We have the next two weeks off to rebuild counts. Tristan will go back to clinic on 3/25/08. If his counts are high enough we will go into the second half of our last phase before maintenance. Boy that brings a tear to my eye... I cannot wait for that phase.
Alyssa took some pictures before we left today.
At clinic I was SOOOOOO proud of Bubby. He was determined not to cry for accessing the port. He tried... He did cry but he was trying so hard not to. He was sooo sweet. Instead of crying after she taped it, he was saying in a crying voice, THANK YOU! THANK YOU! You had to hear the poor boy!
Here he is getting his red chemo.
You can see he is pudging a little from the steroids. He puts away twice the amount of food Justin does these days... 6 more days... 6 more days...
This is nurse Rose, she is sooooo good to Tristan.
I know it must stress her out completely to have Tristan as a patient and access and take out his port stuff. But she never gets frustrated with him. She is a saint!
And I am soooo proud of Tristan. He did not cry ONE BIT when they took it out! He wanted to. He really did not want it take out. I said well what do you want to do take it home? He said YES!.. then a few seconds later he said "I was just kidding mommy, I don't want to take it home!" He was sooo brave!
Awww. so cute about him being determined not to cry. He is very brave indeed. Praying for all of you, and looking forward to maintenance and restored health!
Hey Linda,
I come here to keep an eye on you guys so the boys and I can pray appropriately for Tristan. What a sweet little guy you have!
I've seen your mom give me the same EXACT look that Alyssa has in that picture! She really remids me of her!
All our love, lots of prayers, and virtual hugs,
Dawn (and Levi, Ethan, & Caleb)
p.s. Give our love to your mom and dad.
A place for me to gather thoughts, keep memories and gain sanity as I embark on the homeschooling journey. Also a place to update my friends and family on my son's journey with fighting a.l.l. Leukemia.
