180 days down! Woohoo! And Got my TOS magazine today.

Ok. We officially logged in 180 days into the homeschool tracker today! Yippee! But I have 2 more weeks of scheduled preK stuff. I had extra days for field trips etc. But I want to finish out my sonlight weeks. I cannot miss something good! I have stuff planned for our summer too. But a light schedule. Some Bible, reading aloud to mommy, and a few odds and ends workbooks.  Nothing horrid but enough to keep us in the homeschool mindset. And things I want to finish up before we start her Kindergarten.

This has been a really great first year of homeschooling. I am very proud of Alyssa. She has blossomed so much over the past year. I remember thinking - oh my Gosh not another cut and paste page. How can she cut! Her fingers barely hold the scissors! And now she buzzes through them and they are her favorite pages! I remember thinking she is NEVER going to learn her lowercase letters! And racking my online friends to how to get her to know them. Just let her read and see them over and over in day to day life. She will learn them, Stefanie advised me. Told me not to worry about it just let it happen. Yeah right! I need drills, I want practice for her.... lo and behold... It happened! She just learned them on her own

I remember picking up a Sonlight catalog and having no clue what I was looking at. Now a year into homeschooling and I am explaining the ropes to newbies I feel so invigorated! Hear me roar! ::::Beating chest::::::

And I feel like I am stepping up into a new title. I am going to be homeschooling Kindergarten! the Moment of truth. Will my dd get on the big yellow bus like all the people in the secular world think she should!? Will I REALLY keep her home (where she belongs!?)  Before she was just in preschool. She was not really, not going to school. I would find out how "nice" it is to put the kids off to school. Have my freedom... NO WAY! Inlaws can start talking now. I am REALLY going to be NOt putting her in school! I did NOT go to Kindergarten Orientation! Woo hoo! I am official!

Got my TOS magazine today. Man I love and hate that magazine! I hate that it takes soooo long to read. I hate that I cannot lightly fluff through it. Just browse and go to sleep. I hate that! I hate that I have to pour into every article and CANNOT skim. It is just too good. The article from JenIG as usual - did not disappoint me. It was great! There is a SUPER article from Ken Ham! I really really want my dh to read it. The only problem is it is really long. I do not think he will read one that long. But on the other hand. It is soooooooooo good! Every bit of it is something I needed/wanted to read! Awesome article. I LOVE that magazine so much! Thank you TOS for giving me such a great resource. I am only to the readers comments section and I have been reading it all day!

Why can't I ever just take a break with no worries?

I always have plans to take breaks from school but when I do it really bugs me! lol I just itch to do more to get ahead again. I love being ahead of schedule. I think I thrive on it.

I got my Math U See blocks for Christmas. I am so excited!!! I can't wait to order her primer stuff. I am making myself wait because I plan on it being the K stuff. She has enough for now. I have to limit or I would be overwelming her.

My mom also got me a Gift Certificate to Sonlight. That was really cool of her.

I got some Pampered Chef kids things and recipe book. I love to cook with Alyssa and ... Tristan is ok to cook with, so this is a great gift.

Down with one week!

Well we completed one week of school! Only 35 more to go!!! Actually right now it doesn't seem so long.  I am having so much fun with this. There are a few forceful moments. She is just so stubborn and HATES the songs on the HWT cd.  But I think with time she will learn to take the good and bad... right?

Questions I have been pondering

So I know in PA you get evaluated. Here are my questions. Kids in public schools have subjects they are great at and ones they just do not grasp. (Like me and spelling!) What if your kids just dont get something? Do you get in trouble? What if on standardized tests they do poorly? What if they are failing a subject? Do they say you are unfit to homeschool? Do you guys honestly stick in the bad grades and papers as well as the good for the school to see?

Sonlight users - I THINK I am going to combine cores for Alyssa and Tristan. Although I really would like to start with Alyssa. I will wait if I have to. How do you fit in time for more than one core? It seems like all I would be doing is reading ALL DAY LONG. And then math and other subjects added. The only reason I think to combine the cores is time management. How is it really like doing more than one core at a time?

Just stopping by to say hi!

Well I finally put away the last box of things from our move. The homeschool cupboard is full but not organized anymore. I needed the box off the floor so I  just put it all in there. Sigh... Another day.

I can't wait. September is when I offically start preschooling my daughter. She will be 4. I have all summer to get things organized. I have put off schooling for our move. It just seems more official in Sept. I can't decide when I will start though. I am thinking earliest allowed in PA because the sooner the more summer fun things we can do. I will have to figure out when the school year is able to start in PA. No it does not matter now, but I would like to practice :)

Today was a very draining day to put it lightly. So this post is not very interesting. Just thought I would stop by and say hi. So hi!

How does someone get started in PA Homeschooling?

I was reading all of my printed out articles last night before I went to bed and thought about how I know NOTHING about starting out homeschooling. Well I am learning but I am going to owe a LOT to friends. How can I help someone when I am still learning myself? I figured I would blog all my journeys. That way once I am finished and through all the PA hoops I come against, I can put my blog entries in more of a sequence to them. Edit out some, add some and make a real step by step guide to what one has to do. Every step of the way. That way I can help someone clueless like me.

So this is post #1 of my journey. For now I am waiting, praying, blogging and reading all I can. As I find things I think needs blogged on getting started, I will put it in this catagory.

Hopefully I can get a nice guide going here.
