Today is the Big Day!

Today is the day! Today is the day! I've waited a whole year and it's finally here! Alphameticasmicdociousogger! Oh, my. Do you know, I was trying to find a word that fit, and my brain automatically triggered some meaningless twaddle to express some unknown emotion supposedly classified as 'joy' but.....pardon me. This is so unlike myself....

I am blessed with a generous family! My wonderful, devoted, sel-sacrificing, simply spiffing parents gave me my favorite "holdable" gift--books! Ever heard of H. Rider Haggard? King Solomon's Mines, Pearl Maiden, The Brethren, or Lysbeth? Those are written by him and he is a fabulous writer! Anyhow, I had PM and TB and my parents gave me Lysbeth! They also gave me Christy by Catherine Marshall, my sweet brother gave me Jason and the Argonauts retold by Felicity Brooks and a handmade card with a special message just from him. :+) As did my caring sister, again with a handmade card. My parents also gave me an embossed leather journal, as I had spoken of my wish to write in a "official" old-fashioned diary--it was beautiful! My grandparents, great-grandparents and great-aunt/uncle also gave me gift cards for Target, Borders and cash--which I haven't spent half of yet! Thank you, Lord, for my family!

Now, I would like to express most sincere thanks for the wonderful friends and friendships I have here at HSB--I am SO very grateful for you all, and for the warmth, encouragement, comfort and inspiration you have given me! God Bless You All!

My plans for this year are:

1. Continue to grow and serve the Lord more fully.

2. Keep a record of all the movies that I watch in a year, and judge my screen time from that!

3. Cultivate my relationships with family, siblings and friends.

4. Be able to offer God something at the end of this year of my life.

How exciting and wonderful, my sweet young friend! Happy birthday to you! I wish we could come over for wine chicken and cakes and teas and have a true British spread with all of the fine arts around us, just like in the olden days (pinkies extended of course). Alas....sigh. I am so far away. How sad that we cannot gather all of the littles around us (and Mommy too - she is the queen after all!) and listen to delightful classical music, particularly ones with strings and air....perhaps gazing at a nice fat Renoir up in the corner as we dine on dainty sandwiches - we need LOTS of food before the grand wine chicken, salad and sugar bread dinner - I have a porky babe within that you will someday hold and fawn over, and she - this hefty child - loves FOOD. She kicks and wriggles and fusses and whimpers until I shovel down boatloads of her favorites. Oh, you know...bananas, avocados, yogurt, cottage cheese, hot teas of any kind, and the special occasional treat - dark, dark, oh-so-dark, chocolate. She is an eater indeed and let me tell you, that could be a scary sight once she is born. I fear she may weigh 25 lbs upon her grand entry into the world - a regular Christmas turkey, if you will. But I digress - this is about YOUR lovely birthday, not little Miss Piggy's. And I wish you the grandest, loveliest, most wonderful, fair day in all the land...something as fair and delightful as even you are.

So, to a beautiful princess on her special day - may you have the happiest one yet.
