Once upon a time, a young female kangaroo sat under a big, shady tree. She was happy as a cricket. "Hey, Hopsey!" said a young male named Bounder. "You wanna race down to the water hole and back?" Hopsey thought for a minute or two then said, "How 'bout a nap?" Bounder said yes even though he wanted to race. They didn't nap long. The sound of danger woke them up! When a kangaroo taps one of its big feet hard and fast, it is the warning of danger. Hopsey jumped to her feet, Uncle Joey was warning of danger! Seven hungry wolves were prowling around Aunt Goldy! Quickly, Aunt Goldy, Hopsey and most of the kangaroos bounded away faster then deer. Hopsey looked about, Bounder was nowhere in sight! "Where is Bounder?" she asked. Nobody knew. They bounded back. The wolves had gone away. "Look," said a joey. "Blood!" Hopsey cried out for her best friend, Bounder. No voice of Bounder was heard. "He must be dead," said Aunt Goldy. The other kangaroos agreed. They all left, but not Hopsey. She was too sad. Then a voice that sounded like Bounder's voice made her look in front of her. There, sitting in the shade of the tree was Bounder! His left leg was bleeding! "I am fine," he said. Hopsey jumped away and told the others. They all came back. Hopsey and Bounder became mates and they lived happily with their two joeys ever after.
How's everything goin' at your blogs? I am doing fine here, but my mom wouldn't let me get a pet on my blog. I'm not sure yet what animal I would like though.
" I am not bound to win, but I am bound to be true. I am not bound to succeed, but I am bound to live up to what light I have."
This was my copy work and typing lesson for today.
My math was ok and I had fun on my reading about "Sarah Witcher's Story." Sarah was a little girl about 4 years of age and one day she ran off into the forest. Guess what? Sarah was lost for lots of days!
If you want to hear the rest look in your library for " Sarah Witcher's Story" by Elizabeth Yates.
You past the gardener's shedand you just keep straight ahead -
I do so hope they've come to stay.
There's a little wood with moss in it and beetles,
And a little stream that quietly runs through;
You wouldn't think they'd dare to come merry-making there-
Well, they do.
The End
I had to write this verse of this poem for my copywork today, and I needed to practice my typing today too, so I decided to put it on my blog with a picture. For more show and tells, go to Canadagirl's blog.
I am sorry I didn't type for a long time. I was busy with my school work. How was your Easter? Mine well, it was fine. I do not mean to brag but I got a new polly pocket on Easter morning. It had a turtle, a cat and a dog.
I've just spent a bunch of time putting together a slide show of my 1dd10's lapbook. We are finally done with the unit! Here is a picture of the front of her lapbook. Click on it and you will go to her blog for the slide show!
My eight-year old dd also did one similarly, but I ran out of time to make a slide show. I'll have to do hers later .
Mountain Princess did this lesson in November or December before our computer broke down. Here are her answers:
Before: It rained all week during our camping trip.
After: While we were waiting for dad to go fishing, we saw a light flash and a big roar like a lion! "Storm's a comin'," said dad.
Before: Kaitie saw a scary sea creature at the aquarium.
After: Katie saw she was lost! "Mom!" cried Katie. Suddenly she saw a scary big fish with three sets of teeth staring right at her! "MOOOOOO-OOOM!" screamed Katie. "Right behind you, Katie," said her mom.
Before: As I entered the cave, I found the object of my search - the lost treasure chest of the Ancients.
After: I looked in the cave, I saw a light. I went to the light and saw with my very own eyes, a chest with gold! I took it to the museum and everyone cheered. The judge gave me a badge of a good looker! I felt big!
I have not been typing that much because I had to do school. I can't wait for SPRING!!! The snow here is really deep! It's hard to see out the windows, it goes over my head,(I measured it) and if I try to walk through it I turn out crawling! (otherwise it is like walking through chest-deep snow!)
Here is a picture of our house a couple of days ago.
This next one is me doing my typing lesson inside the house.
Snow isn't all bad. Look what else I can do with it:
When I saw my room when I came home from town, my top bunk was spred as neat as I left it with my pink, shiny comforter. The stuffed animals were still in the blue toy tub on the floor. The books were still stacked neatly on the shelf and my shoes were crowded in my closet just as I left them. My sister's bottom bunk was stuffed with her favorite toys at the end of her bed. Her pillows were carelessly thrown on the other end. Her shiny purple comforter was neatly laid on one end and half off of the other.
After: Alice twirled all over the place and didn't know she had hit a bee! Suddenly the bee stung her! She wailed, jumped back and clutched her sore arm. She saw people staring at her. Alice blushed, gulped and ran away to her home.
Part 2:
Character: Angel
Emotion: Fear
Angel flew back to her young chicks. Cloudy , Ina and Snow were gone! Angel screeched. Tears ran down Angel's cheeks. "Eeeeeer!" sobed Angel. Suddenly a net flew over Angel! Her eyes flew wide open, Mr. Aim had her again!
Character: Henry
Emotion: Scared.
One fine day, Henry was walking in the woods when a cry made him bite his bottom lip and swallow hard. The cry came four more times and then one loud cry that sounded like it was behind him! He bit his fingernails and trembled. Crack! A stick cracked under Henry's feet. Henry's stomach felt gooey, and his heart thumped fast.
Character: Mr. Aim
Emotion: Anger
Mr. Aim laughed to see he had Angel in his net. BANG! A huge rock slamed on his head! Mr. Aim's face grew dark red when he saw Alice and Henry flying away on Angel. "I'll have you two in my hands some day!" He growled to himself. He banged his fists on a cage and went after Angel, Alice and Henry.
